My guess is that within the game there is a logarithm that favors less frequent players
I’m not too sure about this. I got both 1KV & VM on my first tries, Eyes after about 5-8, Tarabah on 12, and Anarchy after about 30-40. I raid quite often.
By comparison, it took me close to 100 runs for the WotM shader & ship.

Could it be that at the time of the anarchy raid you played more time?
-
Tbh…I’ve been fairly constant in my playtime.
-
can I ask you please do you have active hours here?
-
Yes. I play pretty much daily
-
to us it seems a constant. When a player plays a lot on destiny he is the last to get it. when a player does not enter destiny i instead, he plays something else for a while and then after a while he enters the raid, he quickly obtains the exotic. You may be an exception that confirms the rule. Keep in mind that you have done a lot of raids to get anarchy anyway. We are on the general average of doing 30 raids for each exotic. Then there are people who take it at 15 and others at 80. You will understand that it is not a very meritocratic method.

Or…hear me out….this is just the random nature of RNG-related rewards.

they could actually increase (1% -2%) the drop rate with each failed obtain. Or they could insert a rule that if at 30 completion you didn't get it, you have a 100% safe drop

There already is (reported by Bungie) an algorithm to increase the odds weekly to get VM, Eyes, and 1kv on runs where they aren’t obtained. With 1kv, I believe that caps at 50-60%. With Eyes, that cap can go to 100% with enough unlooted clears. Bungie (to my knowledge) hasn’t said anything about the VM increase/guarantee
