Time travel has always been a power of the Vex within the network. Back during D1 days this was the reason for why they will win over any other army of darkness (read original: Fallen, Cabal, Hive, and Vex). As for the simulations? It looks like the original theory is the correct one: The vex simulations can kill us and once they bypass the door? It's game over. We are venturing forth to shut down and prolong the nature of Atheon, Time's Conflux.
Atheon never died
D1 vex lore: If you do not shut down the vex conflux then all they need to do is build a new one, sacrifice (if that is indeed what they are doing) to it and rebuild. This explained how they got the gate shut and locked for the black garden and why we ventured back in. It's just replacing a cog in a wheel and using the same signature to rebuild the big bad robot.
They specifically talk about both it and atheon as never before seen threats, and that atheon has always been active and is behind what's going on.
The old meme says it best honestly: What if, by venturing into the Vault of Glass and defeating Atheon we started the chain of events to today? Is that why there are so many unique missions and strikes and enemies coming back? Did we break time itself in and partially out? Was Atheon a bigger handler then we gave credit? The answer was always yes. Back during D1, we literally had no other theory as to how enemies were coming back completely. Fact is, if the vex found ANY way to do what the Red Legion did to the Traveler? We would have a really.... REALLY... • At the end you say we have no theory why enemies kept coming back, if you mean repeat strikes bungie call them specific moments in time that can be replayed

  •
if you mean repeat strikes
I mean any mission during any number of occasions that played into the sci-fi aspect of Destiny.
Back during D1 days this was the reason for why they will win over any other army of darkness (read original: Fallen, Cabal, Hive, and Vex).
Untrue, during the Taken war Oryx had sent a Echo to the Vault which he had made Taken of all the Vex, if we wouldn't have intervened the Vex would have (and this was their immutable fate) been fully taken by Oryx from the inside out (the entire collective) as the ones we fought were Taken Vex from the future This is because we had defeated Atheon and the Gatekeeper too, which basically destroyed any ways of defense the Vex had over manipulating time inside by use of Oracles (no Oracles = no expunging Oryx's Echo and Taken from the Vault of Glass and from time/reality itself)
Untrue, during the Taken war Oryx had sent a Echo to the Vault which he had made Taken of all the Vex
Timeline: Crota sends Vex into Hive Throne World. Oryx takes Quria and vex. Goblin is presented to Savathun. Oryx, after finding Crotas killers, is within range of the Vault. Oryx takes the weapons in the vault. We go in and encounter Taken Vex (part of a quest if I recall correctly. Possibly mission). All of what I said? Is pre Taken King. Taken King revamped everything and D2 added in the plot holes.

  • Vex can not time travel, they travel across timelines. It's a big difference Only in the vault were they able to learn the secrets of limited time travel, but they were unable to bring that power outside the vault

  • Travelling across timelines is time travelling, travelling across world lines isn’t though
Vex can not time travel, they travel across timelines. It's a big difference
Incorrect. A Fallen servitor can be rebuilt and not brought back to life. The subversion of distance towards the past to restore a matrix is exactly what the Vex do. That is Time Travel.
Only in the vault were they able to learn the secrets of limited time travel
The vex are the ones who will win this overall. They are time travelers. Please note the actual definition of time traveler: Time being the adjective to describe the noun of travel. This is how the Undying Mind kept coming back. The same can be done of any Vex with knowledge of the process. The question you have is simple: Then why aren't they all back? Answer: The vex were going for another plan. One which didn't amount to death at the hands of a lightbearing guardian which they can't simulate. We scared the machines basically into realizing that one, two, or three guardians= disasters for their plans. Yet they can't simulate us. Probably the one noise effect I wanted to hear: A vex goblin groaning in anticipation of death.

oh, le sigh. Very well. Fun definition time: Time Travel- the action of traveling through time into the past or the future. Point A is on earth, day, week, month, hour, minute. Point A is also on earth. Different day. Same all the others. What changed? The distance of a day. "Wait, what? No. It's time. One day passed." And what is a measurement of time? Seconds? hours? Minute? Only those? Perhaps we are going on linear terms like one sol (one sun up to sun down). "Yeah. Those." "So what changed then?" "Oh. Oh, now my head hurts." "Time is not just the wheels of a clock data. It's also all of the location data. Any metric which changes is best described as distance. Because of one measurement of a day? Is merely a rotation of the planet as we monitor the suns light." "Hey, Mr. You're really smart!" "Thanks. But honestly? It's passed down knowledge. So pass it on." Come on Super. You're more knowledgeable than this! I know it!

  • Yeah so anyway the Vex travel across timelines, that's why Elsie is actually from a different timelines and not the future.

  •
Yeah so anyway the Vex travel across timelines, that's why Elsie is actually from a different timelines and not the future.
The two elsie's in our timeline are already confirmed. One is on Europa and the other is an LGBT who is a guy now.

  • Thing is they say the Vex can time travel but as drifter says if they could really do so they would have already won And from what we have seen they have the capacity to control space and time within their own constructs (VoG, infinite forest, and the vex network can do so) it seems there are limits to what they can do, its either they can only do a limited form of it and time travel within their structures or simply just never choose to do so

  •
Thing is they say the Vex can time travel but as drifter says if they could really do so they would have already won
You still don't understand what the Vex mean by winning: Converting or wiping out that which can't be converted. They can't simulate lightbearers. This leads them to search for new plans until one works. The Undying Mind pretty much confirmed the black garden heart was a blight of pure darkness with the power to bring those dead back. We killed it. They used a temporal loop to try and bring back the undying mind. We killed it then. They moved on to another plan.

  • The vex have already defined winning as being the last race alive as per the future simulation where osiris said in CoO that there is no living being and that their ultimate goal is to be the last. If they chose to they could have killed off humans much earlier, you are going off assumptions im going off what the guy who studied the vex for centuries said in CoO

  • Enemies keep coming back because you can’t have a space looter shooter without enemies.

  •
Enemies keep coming back because you can’t have a space looter shooter without enemies.
It’s sad because this right here is the truth, no matter how much writing/lore they create along the way (because none of this was pre-determined before D2) they gotta do what they gotta do the keep the ball rolling lol

  • Why is that sad? You can’t really even have a game where you fight things without things to fight. That’s just how games work lmao.

  • No, haha. You can’t even call it lazy when they’re giving people exactly what they’re asking for.
