As much as I enjoy getting my keister handed to me by hunters in Guardian Games(NOT!), there are certain areas of the event that could do with an improvement, such as:
1. Add an event-exclusive activity
This is a no-brainer. Crimson Days had one, Solstice has one, Festival of the Lost has one. Doing the good ole gambit, crucible, strikes and the such is fine for the regular grind, but not for an event like this.
2. Add event-exclusive farmable/grindable legendary weapons
Like Festival and The Dawning, we had the opportunity to grind for exclusive legendary weapons such as the Glacioclasm, Braytech Werewolf, and the likes. I know we've had Heir Apparent and the Catalyst, but that's a one-time thing and you're done! There's no incentive in that department to keep playing.
3. Replacing population-based competition mechanics with skill-based ones
Any competition mechanic based on player and class population is bound to be immensely biased one way or another, as we're seeing right now, where the hunters are wiping the floor with the rest of the two classes and have basically won.
A skill-based competition would be more in spirit with the event Guardian Games is trying to emulate, ie. the Olympic Games such as;
- 3v3v3 clash-style Crucible where 3 fireteams of each class duke it out in the pursuit of most kills with a time or kill-based cap to end the match.
- 3v3v3 Time-trial Strikes where 3 fireteams compete for the shortest completion time and most points at the end, or something of the like.
That's all from me for now.
