Yes he did, when he was an infant. A ghost saw light in him and saved him, bringing hope to the group of refugees.
-
That is an unfounded theory, not fact.
-
It’s in lore. It might be fact or I might be thinking that the child and Shin Malphur are the same person.
-
I say unfounded because it was never stated or even vaguely suggested that Shin Malphur was that child. Yeah, not stated in lore.
-
How do you think shin had the light when he was a kid? Its not like you are born with more light than the others. This is not naruto.
-
He didn't though.
-
He...did? Jaren wards ghost saw the light in him, and that is how he became a guardian even though he was alive. So, he is the kid of confessions of hope, or he just had more light than other people because.
-
He had a Spark, same as all the dead people who became Guardians. Potential, not the real thing. Like how potential energy isn't kinetic energy until put in motion.
-
He had a spark BECAUSE of the ghost that revived him before. If you only needed a spark to become a guardian, then eris morn would have become a guardian before she died.
-
That's lame. I suppose every Guardian had a Ghost before death, before which they had another Ghost, and so on into infinity. You are making a terrible argument here.
-
Some have, and some dont. And i say some, because most of us were dead. Look at uldren, for example. His ghost didnt had any guardians before he died, and he looked everywhere. Shinobu as well. Eris morn as well. By your logic, they should have become guardians while they still were alive, but since that didnt happen...
-
Not by my logic. I sense a lack of effective communication here. My point is: Those selected by the Traveler have Sparks, right? These serve basically as beacons, marking those suitable for being a Guardian. Maybe. We all know they aren't all good. But it would seem that most people aren't fit for being a Risen until they die, so that they lose their memories and have a fresh start. I don't mean that if anyone dies he'll have a Spark. We can see that, especially when you consider how many bodies Ghost passed over. However, there might be exceptions to that rule, like Shin Malphur. Not everyone, but a very tiny amount of people might not need the initial resurrection. I hope this clears things up.
-
And my counterpoint to that is: All other time a person became a guardian, they were needed to be there. However, there is one exception that doesnt make sense. Shin malphur. So, its a question of believing that there just exist a small group of people that doesnt need to die, that we only know one of, or believing that he died when he was a child and that spark is what made him a guardian. That second option beimg real in the lore.

Edited by Slayer of Worms: 4/1/2021 2:53:37 PMThe lore never explicitly states that, though. This means that either way we don't know and can't know until Bungie draws a line connecting Shin Malphur to either of the options, which would mean that the safest logical standpoint is being neutral.
