It has nothing to do with ammo economy. The problem lies in the weapon itself. This is why Destiny 1 went to shit, is players like you complaining about special ammo.

The game is currently being ruined because of the oversaturated special ammo economy. Destiny 1 failed its economy because it was implemented incorrectly. There can be a balance between the current economy and the D1 economy. I like specials, they’re fun as hell, but they’re also too prevalent for them to be called “special”.

Destiny 1's ammo economy was fine. Players just got butthurt that shotguns and snipers had more than 2 shots, this is why metas like No Land Beyond and Sidearms had started, then people complained about sidearm ammo. But you know what the real problem was? It was the weapon. Felwinters is pretty much abused mainly because of its intrinsic being Shot Package and it arguably having the two best perk combinations, and yet it gets two shots, so you're saying that by reducing the amount of special ammo that is dropped (which is usually one shot on average) will fix this? No. The problem is the weapon.

I don’t want a nerf to specials because they should be strong. The ammo is the problem. I don’t want it to disappear, but I don’t want there to be a plethora as we do now. There’s a balance and we need to find it. Something has to be done.

Did you not read anything I just said?

You’re pointing out that felwinters is strong. You then go on to say that the problem will be the weapon. This implies that the problem will always be the weapon, when another strong weapon will always appear. This means that the problem is not the weapon, rather the ammo that enables it. Something has to be done.

You're half right. Yes Felwinters is very strong, however most special ammo weapons, have two shots on spawn and receive 1 extra shot on pickup, this so called "plethora" isn't a bad thing, this is a high risk high reward scenario as if you die with your ammo, you go back to two shots, this encourages saving your ammo a majority of the time in Playlists such as Clash, Rumble, Supremacy and Control. If you want to make your ammo count, you're not just going to willy nilly use it so you don't have any left, you're usually going to end up using it with a sniper or god forbid a shotgun.

This doesn’t promote saving at all. You get two shots no matter what, even if you die. There is zero incentive to save your ammo.
