NO!!!we’re not doing this again. Year 1 of destiny 2 was the slowest most stagnant state of pvp in destiny’s franchise history. Going backwards like that would only kill crucible even more. And guess what it still wouldn’t stop the complaining. If it became all primaries with barely any special ammo, The consistent group of people who are terrible at PvP and cry nerf on everything would soon beg for a nerf on all abilities that kill them, next it would be on any primary weapon that kills too fast in close range or kills too fast at long range and it keeps going in a viscous cycle. Until nothing feels viable let alone strong. You know why I know this? It’s because it’s exactly how crucible ended up at the end of Destiny 1’s life cycle. Everything was garbage to the point where sidearms were considering “OvErPoWeReD”. And they transferred that same model to the start of destiny 2 but made it worse.

  • Game is dying man. Keep up this way and you will have the field you want, just be playing all by yourself.

  • Idk about that, ttk for weapons was about 2 seconds! The ttk we have on weapons now are less than a second. If specials were moved back to heavy, side arms, smg’s would take over the close range. If snipers were removed, bows and scouts suddenly become viable. So many weapons become viable if specials are moved back to heavy with weapons having a ttk of less than a second.

  • I don’t want them moved back, I just want the special weapons to have some down sides. As of right now there are barely any.

  • Destiny 2 had no specials up until a week before forsaken. And before that pvp was the most balanced it had ever been. Not slow whatsoever, so to have special toned down wouldnt even be close to the state y1 was in.

Overall playtime in the crucible and D2 as a whole was at its lowest point ever in year 1. The overall TTK among all weapon types was mind numbingly slow with the vast majority of all primaries having over a 1.23 second OPTIMAL time to kill. The pace of games were slow and boring and often went to time instead of the max score. And the vast majority of the player base demanded a change to what it is now. This game does not need to go backwards. The majority of the player base does not want to go backwards.

  • I for one enjoyed Destiny's PvP after the go fast update, which does up the ttk of weapons and speed of guardians. The ttk has not changed substantially since then. It just promoted actual gunplay and strategy, even the best strategy can now be countered with special, and so can most supers.

  • A. He never said anything about making it primarys only. B. He never said use special boxs. C. He only suggested that it be looked at and Evaluated. I saw a highly favored comment in another thread (30+ upvotes suggesting that special only drop on primary kills. This would keep primary and special weapons both being used. Your counter-argument falls short based on the fact you try to cover so many things at once and assume things the OP has not said. I do agree *special boxes and primary only metas/loadouts are not the way to go* but I cannot support the way the special ammo economy sits right now. right now people can run around with felwinters and never run out the whole game and never touch their "Primary" weapon. You don't have to worry about double primaries or special crates coming back because bungie, especially Joe Blackburn, knows how bad it went. I genuinely think he's going to bring crucible back to a good state in due time.

But creating special weapon off of a primary weapon kill isn’t a terrible idea either.

  • I genuinely think that it would work too. I can imagine weapon mods for special drops too. Slap a specific mod on a primary and you can get an extra bullet for your hard work.

Chill he didn’t say anything about D1 lol. Limiting special ammo doesn’t mean removing it or using crates.
No one ever said year 1, but go off
Going backwards and Limiting special ammo would turn it into a situation like Year 1 I thought I made that crystal clear in my reply.

  • Limiting special ammo doesn’t mean removing it altogether. Stop throwing a hissy fit because you might need to use a primary for once in your little monkey life

  • Letting it run rampant and outlive its purpose is worse. Something has to be done.

  •
Letting it run rampant and outlive its purpose is worse. Something has to be done.
Let’s be real here special weapons have been rung in a little bit snipers got a nerf to zoom levels factoring in the archetype and scope usage, fusion rifles other than bastion and jotunn barely get any playtime, and shotguns that aren’t felwinters (which is getting Nerfed by the way), chaperone, duality, or astral feel horrible to use. Bungie consistently buffing the ttk and weapon feel of most primary archetypes over the years such as smgs sidearms and hand cannons is and will keep primary usage to its effectiveness. One thing that also dictates special weapons being favored is the size of the maps. If bungie made / brought back combined arms maps and put them in rotation more prevalently you’d see an immediate decrease in most special weapons that aren’t a sniper. However with most maps being catered to tight lines and close to mid range engagements we’ll continue to see an upward trend in shotguns, nade launchers and fusions because that’s what is most effective. The big problem is that bungie will never be able to please everyone. That simple quick fix solution would be to have maps and game modes in the directory dedicated to banning special weapons that function more or less the same as some of the other quick play game modes. And vice Vera when it comes to mayhem and a game mode that is the antithesis to mayhem on a constant rotation. I’m not snapping at you in particular just giving you my honest feedback from playing PvP heavily over the past 5 and a half years.

  • Slugs are definitely in great spot (they do feel horrible if you cant hit yr HS) or i dont understand what you meant imho limiting ammo for ONLY two bullets on pickup no matter amount of scavs would not break up game dynamic as for today CQ maps amplify special usage and developing new (bigger maps) take time which i assume Bungie dont have too much since they pushing things more into the future lately. To be said i hated D1 box system coz there is nothing worst to loose freshly picked ammo but running only with virtually unlimited special weapon ammo is equally dumb tho special ammo is not glaring problem rn but it will be on chopping block some day in the future

  • I’m not advocating a special weapon nerf, hence why I’m targeting special ammo and it’s oversaturation. Special weapons are fine, to an extent. I don’t find many, if any, to need nerfed or changed. Maps pertaining to, for example, shotgun play may be true, but even on sniper friendly maps the same is also true. However, this topic of maps is a different argument, aside from this post.
