:: Trials of Osiris :: (( Reworked ))

In light of trials currently being canceled until further notice; I’d like to make some suggestions for what I think [u]Might[/u] improve the experience, & encourage new & lesser skilled players to jump into the playlist & earn their way to flawless. [i]Unofficial Concepts & should be received as such[/i] [u][b]CARD SYSTEM[/b][/u]: • Trials of Osiris no longer functions as a card based system. [u][b]POINT SYSTEM[/b][/u]: • Trials now functions from a point based system. • Reach a score of 1,000 to go flawless • Access the lighthouse when your score reaches 1,000 • Claiming your loot will reset your score back to 0 • Players will be unable to join matchmaking until their flawless rewards have been claimed • Matches won award 100 points • Matches lost award 50 points • Trials Scoreboard refreshes, at the start/end of each week. [u][b]MATCHMAKING SKILL TIER SYSTEM[/b][/u]: • Resetting your score increases your skill tier by +1 • Resetting your score at tier +1 increases to tier +2 • Resetting your score at tier +2 increases to tier +3 • You only match against equal tier players. • You can only earn tier +3 for that week • Each flawless reset awards loot from the chest • Lower tier players that teamup with higher tier players, will be placed in the higher tier matchmaking As you climb higher through each tier, your loses become less rewarding, & can result in point depletion while in tier +3. • “[u]Tier 1[/u]” rewards 50 points for each loss until your score reaches 300. When defeated You’ll never sink below 300. Wins will always award score 100 points. Defeats deducts 0 score points. • “[u]Tier 2[/u]” no score points will be awarded upon defeat. Wins will always award 100 score points. 50 score points will be deducted upon defeat. • “[u]Tier 3[/u]” No score points will be awarded upon defeat. Wins will always award 100 score points. 100 score points will be deducted upon defeat. [u][b]SAINT-14 PASSAGE SYSTEM[/b][/u]: • [u]Mercy[/u] forgives 1 loss & deducts 0 score points • [u]Ferocity[/u] grants an additional 100 on your 3rd win • [u]Confidence[/u] grants an additional flawless reward • [u]Wealth[/u] Increases your flawless tokens from 150 to 260 • [u]Wisdom[/u] rewards more XP, scaling as you win matches [u][b]SAINT-14 BOUNTY SYSTEM[/b][/u]: • Bounties award 1 weekly weapon • Bounties award 1 weekly armor • Bounties award tokens [u][b]LOOT SYSTEM[/b][/u]: • Score points of 300 award 1st loot drop • Score points of 500 award 2nd loot drop • Score points of 700 award 3rd loot drop • Score points of 1,000 award the lighthouse • Score points reset to 0, at the end of the week • Score Points Start at 0, at the start of the week • Matches won award 5 tokens • Matches lost award 1 token • Each game win or loss will have an accumulative chance to drop weekly trials loot. Trials loot will only drop, if you’ve previously unlocked it. [u][b]GUARANTEED FLAWLESS CHEST REWARDS[/b][/u]: • 1 Adept weapon • 1 Adept weapon mod • 1 Masterworked high stat armor piece • 15,000 Glimmer • 200 Legendary Shards • 15 Enhancement cores • 5 Enhancement prisms • 1 Ascendent shard • 150 Tokens • Emblems [i](Certain items listed may only be awarded through multiple flawless completions)[/i] [u][b]POSSIBLE FLAWLESS CHEST REWARDS[/b][/u]: • Exotic sparrow • Exotic ship • Shaders • Transmat effect • Exotic emotes • Exotic ghost • Legendary finisher • Weapon ornaments [i](All In | Mercurial Affliction | Blind Fury | Eye of Osiris | Heavens Vigil | Vigil for Saint-14) [/i] [i](Certain items listed may only be awarded through multiple flawless completions)[/i] [u][b]SYSTEM EXPLOIT CONCERNS[/b][/u]: • “[u]Jumping off the maps[/u]” Punishable by applying a 20 minute account restriction if a common pattern is repeated, via jumping off the map, or killing yourself. No points are award for the individual player in question. Multiples infractions will result in a playlist ban for 24 hours. • “[u]Leaving or Disconnecting[/u]” If your account shows a pattern of multi infractions, much like other game modes (gambit in particular) you’ll face a warning, which will lead to a playlist ban. More aggressive actions will be taken, if your account persists. No points will be award to your account. • “[u]AFK farming[/u]” Standing idle in game will get you removed from the playlist & sent into orbit. You will not be award any points or loot. Repeated offenses will get you banned for the week. • “[u]Win trading[/u]” Systematic flaw, currently being corrected by [u]Bungie[/u] • “[u]Cheaters[/u]” New accounts cannot enter trials matchmaking until a 72 hour bypass. In addition, your account will have to meet the current seasonal soft cap requirement. Furthermore; Trials will no longer be accessible for free to play accounts. Players will need to own “Shadowkeep” or “Beyond light” in order to access the playlist.     • I just don't understand why any PvP mode has to be this complicated. Or as complicated as trials is now for that matter. All of the talk about trials is about how to hand out weapons and not about the actual playing of the mode. Just the whole climate around it is a recipe for disaster. The top trending thread is basically a defense of win trading. What kind of bizarro world of PvP is this? I guess you're right though, the only way to fix it is to have it so that playtime leads to "flawless" but probably shouldn't call it that.

      • I think honestly it does need a rework I think because of the way you guys handled the weapon and mod system with the whole sun setting it put everything behind and this is now needing a huge changes well and trials honestly has been a broken mechanic for a long time because you guys reward strong players and yet make it harder for new people coming to the game to excel not with just weapons with mods as well I mean it's a whole broken system that needs to be reworked I understand rewarding in game players but in all means you're giving them weapons and extra advantage with mods as well making it not just one time harder but two to three times harder for new players to get to that point so it doesn't make any sense I mean all in all it's asinine in backwards basically if your first you're okay everything else is just considered meat money anything you're taken from the new players it's just they are just free meat 2in game players it doesn't make any sense you say you want people that come back and play Destiny but yet you don't reward new players or people coming back to the game trying to get caught up so yeah you come in and you make a quick Buck by adding new mods new content briefly but yet you're not seeing the whole picture so yes it does need a complete rework and it's about damn time

      • it isnt the card based system that is the problem it is the cheating, poor per match rewards, bad bounty rewards, the horrible token system, and the dog shit matchmaking. this does not fix any of those issue and actualy makes some of those issues worse all the while ruining the purpose for trials and ruining the prestige flawless players used to have (back in d1 that is in d2 its a differnet story but ill ignore that for now) instead of giving an incentive to get better at pvp going flawless with this would mean next to nothing

        • This is an absolutely TERRIBLE rework that undermines the point of Trials and competitive endgame PVP. We already have a casual point basee pvp playlist. If you don't like the competitive nature of Trials, don't ruin it for people who do.

            • I like this idea but it does sound like a prolonged survival game mode. I think what needs to happen is when an account goes flawless, they get put into the flawless servers and play other flawless players.. account based, letting the less try-hards a shot at going flawless for the first time.

                • Card based mm is 100% the way to go and has worked for trials since D1 taken king. The only problem trials has is a lack of rewards for those that cant reach lighthouse. D1 had more loot throughout the card.

                  • I like it. My one concern is this takes out the aspirational part of an aspirational activity. I think killing tier 3 off and making tier 2 a little more punishing for losses with the ability to reroll your adepts for hitting the point total is smart. Rewards continued play and makes that tier 2 the sweat fest while encouraging your average player to dip their toe for the guarantee of eventually getting that sweet trials loot through the tier 1 slog. Anyone who wants to complain that the system would encourage throwing...what's new?

                      • Trials doesn’t need a massive rework like what you are suggesting and although I would most likely never play past 3 flawless runs, I’m not a fan of locking trials at that point. My solution: 1. Remove card based matchmaking 2. Make all passages free and available instantly 3. Change token/bounty system -Remove tokens and daily bounties -Add 5-7 weekly bounties that reward weekly gear 4. Disable light advantage and add light requirement (~10 light below powerful cap) 5. Put trials behind paywall (current yearly dlc+season pass req) 6. Rework adept weapons/mods -Allow adept mods to be equipped on any weapon -Add celerity as an intrinsic perk for adepts -Allow a choice of perks in the final slot of adepts 7. Join in-progress stays enabled but only on the character that got disconnected 8. x/6 lobby info is hidden to help prevent attempts to match against friends 9. Going flawless (account based) forces you into “flawless matchmaking” until reset. -“Flawless matchmaking” consists of 3 seperate matchmaking pools: 1x, 2x, 3x+ weekly flawless runs -The matchmaking is chosen based on the player in the highest flawless tier

                        • I like it, but there should be a reward for those that go flawless. You shouldn't be able to lose your way to the same loot as someone who didn't lose a single game. After all the definition of the word is without flaw, either flawless should have an additional loot pool to incentivize going flawless or you might as well remove the wording entirely, in which case it loses half of what makes Trials, Trials. I recommend a video by Kujay about Trials 2.0, worth a watch. Even if you don't agree completely, he at least has some really good ideas to help fix Trials without removing what Trials is.

                          • I might reduce the points for a loss to say 10-25 but make it so you *could* hit 50 on a loss. Like awards points based off rounds won in the loss, how many kills you got etc. Or a scaling system. 10 points for each round won, 25 points let’s say for winning overall, and 25 points for performance points available to both sides. So if you win 5-0, guaranteed 75 points before performance bonuses (whatever they may be), while the other ram get 0 plus performance bonuses (so if they just jump off the map they’ll get 0 points). With the system a team that loses say 5-2 would get 20 points for rounds won, and also points for how well they performed (ie doing better than expected against a far more skilled team). Just an idea that would make it more worthwhile for teams to try harder (aka maybe lessen the amount of people who say “handouts” and whatever else catchphrase) Like the ideas anyways!

                              • Id scale the flawless material rewards back a bit. Already getting a masterworked armor that could be sharded for the same things. Also tier 3 would be flat out punishing if you went on a 2 loss streak. Id make it either 50 point drop or have it scale per loss. Doesn't look half bad to me though.

                                      • Turn it into a matchmade pve horde mode, as with the horrible peer to peer arrangement of this game any attempt at a 'competitive' pvp mode is a poor attempt, a pve horde mode will have higher player engagement and won't promote hacking/cheating. Reach a certain wave level for flawless chests and have a chance to spawn a strong champion at higher wave levels that can drop the adept level gear. To keep the pvp crowd happy Increase the rewards for the daily 'competitive' playlists and put unique and adept loot in those matches even bring back the crucibke token system for the glory playlists and have worthwhile gear purchasable with a hundred tokens or 300 for adept gear

                                        • Easy solution without changing much. 1. SBMM 2. After flawless you get put into a pool with other flawless players for that week. 3. Ban recov/paid carry accounts. Easy, done! By the end of the weekend the scrubs should have a shot.
