The difference between the catalysts when they first released in warmind to the catalysts now is astounding. Before we just got old perks or a stat increase but now we are getting fundamental changes to the weapons when they get one like brand new perks. Some old catalysts have become or still are useless in the current sand box and I feel like they could make some major changes. Here are some weapons I feel could use a face lift:
Mida multi tool - I mean this is a no brainer. It already has almost max reload base so what is the need for outlaw? Ever since the reload cap change it basically got worse too. Maybe they could increase the synergy with mini tool by giving it another enhancement perk or just make it feel snappier with snapshot or QuickDraw.
Vigilance wing - I never understood why this weapon got full auto. On low rpm guns I don’t think full auto really has a place. This is a weapon designed for pvp and teammates dying so we could expand on this by giving a stronger version of celerity with more bonuses.
Skyburners oath - yeah this weapon is already bottom of the barrel when it comes to good guns and I feel like a range bump is just not enough to make it good. We’ve seen before that catalysts can revive dead weapons like trinity ghoul so I feel like there is some potential here but I feel like it needs a complete rework first.
Borealis - since the change to its animation the reload masterwork is now redundant. I definitely think it should have anti barrier base in the weapon while activating ionic return after stunning a barrier champion. A mag increase and deeper pockets could also further this gun’s potential in gm activities with match game too.
Cold heart and Prometheus lens - these trace rifles are in dire need of help anyway and the catalysts currently are clearly not helping them. I’m not quite sure what direction to take them but cold heart could possibly have a mag increase with the ability to ramp up in damage even further and maybe give it a damage increase to those effected by stasis. Prometheus could apply burn damage to targets that grows in damage the longer the weapon it’s kept firing making it into a monster in ad clear and potential powerhouse when it comes to majors or ultras.
Wardcliff coil - I think many people actually agree when I say the catalyst on this gun makes it worse than base. Tracking is nice but in pve scenarios I would sometimes shoot in a massive group just for all shots to go into one target. I feel like there could be a better catalyst here maybe increasing its damage in some way.
Colony - well this weapon is interesting as it literally sees no use anymore as all pve heavies outgun it and all pvp heavies kill more effectively. Deeper pockets just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe something like chain reaction or maybe even loaded question’s perk could increase the fun factor and possibly make it viable.
Leviathan’s breath - this came out recently but missed the mark as a quiver increase isn’t enough to save it. It definitely needs a draw time decrease or even possibly a bonus to damage when perfect drawed on top of the quiver bonus.
Most other catalysts are in a good spot but I feel like we can make mediocre exotics into something great just by giving it a good catalyst. I know we can change them as it’s been done before to huckleberry, please do it to these guns!
