Summon your power, d20+d8= 16+ 3=19
Difficulty was 15, you summon your magic, successfully. The game aspect is tailored around you with rolls providing dramatic changes in the story (check pass/fails.)

perhaps, but I use a relaxed format that allows users to participate when they can. Frankly if users don't want to participate, meh? I'll just try something else later

Seeing as a single mistake from me was enough to completely turn people off, I just don't want what happened to me to happen to you.
Speaker literally wrote the RP Commandments.
This is why people should participate and learn about how we do things before just jumping in trying to be the next uber popular guy.
You new kids don't even know anything about us. -blam!-ing hell.
I know these people are a bit rough and childish sometimes, but I'm not worried, turning people Off has everything to do with personal attitude, not necessarily the quality of the RP. Collaboration is always key, I tried Roleplaying a long time ago... not that long actually, and I was a power-tripping douche that was always getting into arguments over my non-cooperation. It labeled me as being kind of dodgy. So I had to change my attitude from getting my way to collaborating... and peoples attitudes towards me changed, slowly at first. but better once I established I was just trying to have fun with the forums like everyone. It got even better when I befriended more users- including some that I never would've even imagined collaborating with.
I get the sense that a mistake you made got called out and it escalated- I know that feeling. Trust me when I say the impact of your RP is not in it's mechanics, or "rules" but in how you play it and the level of meaningful collaboration and collective storytelling. It's like a stageplay in typed words. Try to mend bridges and collaborate more, if I'm totally off base, forgive me.
What would warrant doing that?
Also, the system that determines if an action succeeds feels needlessly complicated. I usually make an occasional action fail every now and then.
