Basically, I think Bungie should apply the “whisper formula” to all lost sectors in the game.
1. Make lost sectors meaningful.
Designate a specific exotic weapon for each lost sector.
2. Make lost sectors lore friendly.
Give each lost sector an aesthetic overhaul to match their designated exotic weapon.
3. Make lost sectors challenging.
Implement a 20 minute timer for each lost sector. In a perfect world, Bungie would add jumping puzzles and strategically placed enemy spawn locations. This will force players to explore different builds and allot their time responsibly.
4. Make lost sectors farmable.
Implement "tiered loot." First completion of the lost sector rewards the designated exotic weapon. Second completion of the lost sector rewards the designated exotic weapon's catalyst. Both drops are guaranteed, this way players can enjoy the weapons before they get nerfed or "vaulted."
5. Make lost sectors exciting.
Continuing with the idea of "tiered loot," a hidden puzzle will unlock once a player obtains both the base weapon and catalyst for that specific lost sector. In a perfect world, the reward for completing this secret puzzle will be an exotic ship with the same aesthetics as the exotic weapon rewarded in that specific lost sector.
6. Don't forget about legendary lost sectors!
So far, rotating legendary lost sectors have been a huge success for players seeking to obtain exotic armor. If everything mentioned above is magically made official by Bungie, then we should continue to rotate legendary lost sectors each week. This will give players who already have the base weapon, catalyst, and secret ship for each lost sector a reason to continue grinding them again each week.
p.s. I apologize in advance if my ideas are... "unpopular" or "impossible" to implement by the developers. However, I just really miss the feeling of helping blueberries with their first "whisper run" each week. This used to be my weekly ritual and eventually evolved into my own personal "endgame." Whisper of the Worm is what made me fall in love with Destiny in the first place, so it would mean the world to me if something "similar" was added to the game. Right now, Destiny just feels... empty. To me, at least.

Timers? Just no. Tired of that.
-
This community has been trained to hate timers because most of the playerbase doesn't understand it's the best way to prevent players from sitting back and sniping everything
-
Good stuff, except stuff the timer. I always thought it was a poor excuse for challenge. They could however, provide an upgraded reward for finishing with in a designated time. That is a more positive way to use that metric, imo.
-
Bugger Timers!
-
Don’t
-
2 RepliesLegendary lost sectors already exist. Adding lore and reworking all of them imo is wasted dev time compared to a new activity, especially considering that you would only get the exotic weapon once.

Edited by CookieNiki: 2/1/2021 9:27:47 PMYou lost me at "Implement a 20 minute timer". I'm totally against any kind of timers in games. I like everything else, though.

This would be cool!
Sorry, all out of salt.
Dude they can’t even come up with new content for the seasons and you think they are going to completely revamp lost sectors. You aren’t even being reasonable, this is a request that needs to be routed through the Make a Wish Foundation because that’s the only way it’s ever going to happen.
-
Jumping puzzles??. I thought we shot at things in Destiny, not spent ages hopping to and from from one platform to another... That’s another type of game entirely.. It’s.. Err... Platforming?.
-
Lost sectors are way too easy for such a formula. Not a bad idea for future lost sector design but people can farm these things in a few minutes without difficulty and putting an exotic in each one would just flood the game with exotics, making the ones we have even less valuable. Not a bad idea, just a bad reward lol. Maybe like specific legendary gear? Or, better, specific types of gear. Need a class item? Run this lost sector specifically. That'd be kinda neat.
-
I don't see the likelihood of missions like Whisper, Zero Hour, or Harbringer being applied to all lost sectors, or at least the current ones tbh. It would require heavily overhauling the current lost sectors, either by expanding them or making new locations branch from them entirely. As much as people like to rag on Bungie for laziness, that'd be a tall order even if they weren't lazy. On top of that, there would be little replayability once you've obtained the weapon and catalyst since they're guaranteed drops. If you want to encourage a grind, then they'd either need to be a drop chance, give exotics random rolls again, or tie catalyst objectives to the lost sector; I don't think many players would enjoy at least 2/3 of those. Now, you could probably still get away with the idea of other exotic loot like Sparrows, Ships, or perhaps even exclusive ornaments, but unfortunately weapons on their own aren't worth the grind and many of the weapons catalysts in game already have an appropriate source drop. Right now it might be better to just expand the idea of legendary lost sectors to the remaining lost sectors in the game besides the Cosmodrome, Europa, and soon to be the Moon.

No on the Timers. Pass.

You had me sold until you mentioned the time, sorry but no thanks. I don’t enjoy being timed in anything, its not really adding anything for a challenge and I cant enjoy the scenery if I have to speed run through everything. You guys always complain about how you want more content but adding a time limit on anything takes away from that content lol. Why kill everything in the way when you can go invisible and skip everything? Why bother using your favorite weapons when you are forced to use the strongest pve meta setup in order to steamroll? I also don’t like the grind part of what you said. Why would You want to rerun the same exact mission over and over again? I had to do zero hour so many freaking times to complete the catalyst, It was not challenging, it was boring. The first time ever completing it was a thrill but after the second completion, I instantly started feeling burned out. By the time I finally completed the catalyst, I ended up hating the mission more than simply having good memories of it. I seriously don’t understand why you guys love banging your head on the same wall over and over again. Im the type thats always trying to find new walls to bang my head into (not literally). Lost sectors should give a guaranteed specific exotic upon the first completion, bungie could add a different route for the catalyst which would also be a one time run and then call it a day. In a perfect world, thats exactly what should happen, imagine of we had a new exotic to unlock on a new sector every week or every 2 weeks? Obviously bungie goes the lazy way and makes you guys run chores over and over again. This is why I cant even raid anymore

TheShadowBungie is no more... - old
Making content meaningful like the lost sectors have been asked for-for 4 years. It took 4 years just to get what they did with them in BL. Rumor has it that destiny's life span ends in 3 years. I guess you are sol. -
Realistically I don't think this is ever going to happen. It's a monumental amount of work (there are currently 38 Lost Sectors in the game, for reference.) What I think is probably going to happen is Bungie continuing to expand on the Legend and Master Lost Sector system already in place (and they already kinda are by adding the Moon Lost Sectors next season.) It sucks that Whisper is gone and you can't run people through it anymore. I feel like the closest thing to that currently is the Hawkmoon mission. It isn't as long or as hard but I think there are people out there struggling with it.

11 RepliesYour ideas are fine. The problem is Bungle has moved most of their staff to Matter, and the only people working on Density is the part time weekend Janitor and his 4 iRoombas. They had a 5th iRoomba, but it got prompted to Director of Q&A for Matter.

1 ReplyNope. The more we can burn timer activities from history, the better! They are abused to make something "difficult" without letting people use build variety, enjoy the map design, etc. I think they would take away from the other things you mentioned.

2 RepliesTimers suck period.

The timer is dogshit

Dont put the timers. They suck. They are an artificial way to make you play quicker.
