Old ttk:
6 crit 2 body for a 0.93 ttk.
60/450 × (8-1) = 0.9333.
New ttk:
6 crit 2 body for a 0.84
60/500 x (8-1) = 0.84
Reasoning:
As a hierarchy for auto rifles, archetypes should have a slower ttk in favor of range.
With 450s, they offered a little more range than 600s, but drastically slower ttk and overall dps to the point where any that becomes a reward is essentially junk.
A weapon that kills slower than pulses with less range is AWFUL.
By improving their rpm, we directly tackle one of their biggest problems while still leaving room for tuning.
The reason why I don't ask for a damage buff instead of an rpm buff is because increasing their damage too much will have them replace 600s.
1 less bullet in PvP means a 32 meter weapon killing at 0.80 which is NOT what I want because that's a direct replacement of 600s 8 crit and 1 body for a 0.80.
If you are skeptical about the value of them being changed to 500s...just know I was one of the people in the early stages of forsaken who thought changing 110s into 120s was the right thing to do and look at the game now (I didn't ask them to give them 40 damn meters though).
My point is, a SMALL change in rpm can make some weapons go from bottom of a tier liest to at least mid tier on just that alone.
450s as a base weapon are actually really solid.
They have good range, good recoil control and dish out solid flinch.
But their lackluster ttk shrouds these good points and makes them look insignificant.
By them improving it's weakest aspect, it's better qualities come into play more often and can be taken advantage of much more.
My example is, again, 120s.
They have always had ridiculously high damage, obnoxious flinch and the ability to kill long outside of their intended range (they've got around 23 points of damage to still secure a 3 tap).
With a boost in range, their ability to secure these shots became more consistent, but with an rpm improvement they now ALSO do it faster.
Faster means better teamshotting, better 1v1 duels, better forgiveness for missed shots (which is important on slow firing weapons) and better flinch stacking.
Hopefully you guys understand the point I'm trying to make.
I do realize on paper this may look pretty insignificant so I can understand not being convinced this will help, but I can assure you they will AT THE VERY LEAST, no longer be a weapon that feels worthless in pvp.

I would rather have the damage buff to 30 a crit but keep the body damage the same. 450s were iconic in d1 and they were good in the early days of d1. The precision frame weapons should be able to have a good ttk if you land crits. The adaptive frame should be the forgiving archtype. The lightweights are more mobile and use movement to operate well. I really don't see a place for 360 autos. They never really had a place, didn't exist in d1 and are just worse scouts or pulse rifles in d2. Buffing 450s wouldn't break the meta. 600s are more forgiving because they fire faster so if one bullet misses you still have a whole bunch of other ones rapidly coming out. You just can't look at ttk. 720s have a .77 ttk. But when was the last time you saw someone use one? I never see them. 600s have a .8 ttk. They're not breaking the game. I want to see both types have a .8 ttk but have different styles of using them. 600s if you like the more aggressive playstyle with a high fire rate. A missed crit that gives you a body is still a .9 ttk. Not as good of a range or recoil as a 450 but still good. 450s if you have a more passive precision based play style. Has better range but fires slower and requires you to land crits. If you miss a crit but get a body it's going to be not as forgiving.

Edited by mikeyrox1234: 1/2/2021 10:33:42 PMAgreed but remove 360’s All Weapon Types should have 3 Archetypes... No need to have 360’s, 450’s(500’s), 600’s, AND 720’s... Or get rid of 600’s so we have a more diverse RPM spread.

Buffing 360s would be nice, still love with my max range halfdan
-
I love how we th community have to tell the pvp sandbox team how to balance pvp. Good post I hope these changes happen.

You dont remember but 450 Autos were THE best weapon in Destiny. Fact. Not now though. Maybe again in the future. How did they go though from best to worst when they have always been 450? That alone blows a hole in your ideas the size of a battleship. just sayin

I don’t know what kind of buff wearing mask of bakris adds, but it actually makes 450s fun again. I have an old arc FWC “the number” 450 I have been using with this setup and been loving it. Buff them to this level, and they would be viable again imo. ✌🏼

That would be big brain move

' as a hierarchy'.. So you're a group all by yourself.

450's just don't need to exist its slow without the power a 360 has or the speed a 600 has. Either make them a 600 with more vertical recoil (precision frame) or a 720 with more effective range. 360 450 600 720. 500 wouldn't change anything it would be an inferior version of a 600. 720s in my opinion would be a far better change since it has moderate damage just not the fire rate. You are not going to get a .84 raising the fire rate a bit and if it stays unchanged then just do the real solution. Nerf handcannons. Its the only thing invalidating guns always has been since thr days of Luna/NF.

I'm fine with this, but don't touch 360s. My age old bond is life.

Edited by Erijian: 1/3/2021 2:18:30 AM450 Auto Rifles should not kill faster than 140 Hand Cannons. Just use a 600 if you want that. Also not sure if you noticed but "Precision Frame" weapons are normally the slowest, or second slowest, in killing TTK-wise in their respective weapon class to reflect how easy they are to use.

Bump.

This makes too Much sense. It will never happen.

Edited by Ice Bear Mike: 1/2/2021 10:47:34 PMRemove 450s and 720s SMGs fill the gap of 720s and 450s are garbage But I’d see why you wouldn’t want to get rid of 720s

Bump, or 500+!!!

I’d be down for this. This would be a welcome change. I just hope they’d retain their naturally smooth recoil.
