You had me right up until connection based matchmaking for casuals. Wrong.
I define a casual mode as being at my skill level and not above it. Casual fir a try hard and casual for a casual are two different things.
I don’t need to be pitted against the lords of the crucible just to complete my weeklies. This is a fundamental problem in the community. If you’re wondering why casuals despise the crucible it’s because there is no entry point.
On connection based matchmaking my first crucible experience could literally be against one of the greatest in the game.
And all that will do will ensure I never return again.

All you have to do is implement qp (the casual playlist) as I pure casual pvp environment for everyone. Remove anything that stat records or has quest/weapon progression in it. Once you do this, most won’t care as much, or go off to comp or something similar to get better at pvp.

So true. I stated it more than once. My best time in crucible as a below average PvP player was during SBMM time. Every game was a fight but it was still fun as I was able to win games, sometimes landing under the top three. Games were much more balanced. I had to fight hard but I got rewarded with sometimes losing, sometimes winning, most of the time fun. Since last season and this one as well it was again every single game matched vs Unbroken/Flawless players who simply eradicate/d me. Every single game. Every single game last/worst player. As a casual soccer/basketball/football/baseball/tennis/take whatever you want player I expect to play against other players of similar skill level. And not each and every game against some pro level players who of course will defeat me in every single game. And in no real life activity/sport any top player would ask for being matched against amateur/hobby casuals. Only in games. For obvious reasons. It's so transpicuous why good/top players including Youtubers/Streamers are asking for being constantly supplied with cannon fodder. No Master in Psychology required for their motivation. Destiny will in future be a game without Crucible and it will save me from a lot of negative emotions. Side note. I was wondering whether it's even the hidden agenda from Bungie. I tend to believe some parts of the game by purpose foster malicious joy and spitefulness among players. Hate and anger instead of good and positive feelings. Anyway. Take care and Merry Christmas!

Gamers nowadays don’t want to put the time into getting better at something. They just expect instant gratification. Not to polish and hone their skill (talking about any game). If they find it tough or “impossible” they want to throw in the towel immediately.
such a shame

Gamers nowadays don’t want to put the time into getting better at something.
So, kinda like you? I don't see you running many "Master" activities (although you do seem to want that Necrotic Grip), or attempting the raid on day one. I don't do a lot of top-tier content myself, but I do try to get better, and sure don't call out other players for not wanting to get better...unless, of course, they are hypocrites like you.

Edited by Its CombaT: 12/15/2020 5:05:32 PMLmao, what a dumb comment. 1st, I wasn’t around for day one raid. 2nd, Yes you are correct I haven’t done many masters, not because I find them hard but usually because I’m playing PvP or helping someone else out with something. 3rd, My comment was directed towards the PvP side of the game. Annnddd seeing how you don’t play PvP in this game. I would go on the assumption you don’t play any kind of FPS multiplayer.
such a shame

Exactly - regular pvpers just want easy kills against casuals and newbs - instant gratification right? Imagine actually having to play against someone as good or better than they are...? Or telling a newb to “get gud” while you yourself have peaked as a casual stomper and can’t compete against others if your same skill level...

Ok boomer.

What it needs to be is connection based with some skill based elements thrown in. Some protection for lower skilled whilst prioritising good connection. Nothing worse than being the victim of poor connection as opposed to a better player. Also although "git gud" isn't really as simple as it sounds, it really is the point of playing a game. You need to improve at the game to perform well.

Let’s look at connection based matchmaking for what it is - an excuse to stomp casuals and newbs...because under sbmm you wouldn’t have the pleasure...
-
Casuals and noobs make up the majority of the player base. Therefore the pool of players at the higher ranks is far lower and is more spread across the globe. Therefore when the matchmaking doesnt prioritise connection, the top tier players match other top tier players. While on paper this sounds fair, this means the matchmaking only factors in skill level, meaning that there are less people who will have good connections and people can cheese their way to the top by purposely having a bad connection. The reason you may not have had many connection problems if you are nearer the bottom of the skill bracket is because there are far more players for you to match with so connection issues are going to be far less severe whereas for the top tier they are going to be constantly facing the same laggy opponents due to there being noone else for them to match with. Therefore it is a fairer and better experience for all to have connection based matchmaking as it is fair for all players as they all have a fighting chance. A good player can be beaten by a bad player and also beat a bad player but in most cases a laggy opponent will win against their opponents not due to actually outplaying them but due to the fact they had an unfair advantage. At least when you die to a player with good connection you can be sure they deserved to kill you there due to them using their skill and not due to them getting lucky from a poor connection.

There are no connection problems lol it’s just an excuse for an easy stomp - I love this pvp community! “Get gud” Okay how? Get good enough to stomp newbs That’s it? Yup No thanksssss....
-
Wow ok so blatantly being ignorant and ignoring my entire comment. As you said you are at the low end of the bracket so its likely you wouldnt have seeing as there are many more bots than good players. I consider myself to be an above average player and I can assure you when this game is sbmm focused it is a laggy mess. But clearly your just going to ignore what I say anyway and seeing as your arguement is that you dont want to improve, you want the difficulty lowered to fit you when you likely only play crucible 3 times the entire week for that pinnacle reward. As someone who doesnt play the mode, doesnt enjoy the mode, has no motivation to improve in the mode; why should it be catered to you?
-
Just admit it - your crucible victories are a lie and your stats are padded with newbs who only go in once a month lol You really should be proud...and those connection “issues” were sooooo bad - so glad I can be mercied so often now instead! FIXED! Are you hearing yourself?
-
All my crucible victories are a lie? I have gotten legend 4 seasons in a row which is sbmm, I have 96 flawlesses in which I ahve faced and beaten many 2kd stacked teams with 150+ flawlesses. I play pvp because I enjoy, not because Im forced to. And I started out as a 0.79kd bot who got carried in trials of the nine. I practised. I improved. I put in the time to learn the mechanics of the game and got better. I have seen both ends of the spectrum and can assure you that with sbmm this game can be extremely laggy. I have played extremely laggy trials games and have been frustrated not because they beat me but because they had the advantage of them lagging which made them practically unkillable. So Im sorry that this game FEELS like its unfair to you and that you dont have your little safe space where noone who can actually operate a controller/mnk can hurt you but at least you only have to suffer through it 3 games a week so that the matchmaking connection quality can be better overall.
-
Edited by SILLABYSS: 12/16/2020 12:50:35 AMAnd how much of those stats are against newbs and casuals- probably thousands... Look if you enjoy pvp that’s great but there is no conceivable way I should be playing the likes of you - with almost a hundred flawless passages- when I get my three matches in a week... That’s insane... You should be playing against other flawless players - but not you! You just want an easy stomp...admit it, you’ll feel better...
-
The actual FACT is that everybody will peak at THEIR max skill level. Not everybody can, or will be, pvp GODS. Even so they should still be able to play crucible and enjoy it by not getting stomped by people much better than they are. The attitude of people on this forum is that a person needs to either “get gud” or get off!!
-
Git gud?
-
If you wanna get good in a broken neglected game mode then that’s your problem- personally I have much better things to do...like, anything... Some of us don’t want to get good - maybe just deal with that...
-
Difference is the games not broken LOL you just refuse to learn how to play it properly. For example, TTK of weapons, identifying what your enemy is using in an engagement , how to counter it, playing cover, using the correct build to your Advantage on the map, knowing what distance to use each gun from to play at its max potential. And way more. There are a few things that need to be touched upon in the game like arbalest and sniper flinch in general but if you cba to learn how to play the game properly then that’s on you😊 git guddd
-
There is no entry point - you start and your fodder for try hards who think having kill stats against newbs makes them great - it doesn’t the by the way...
-
Doesn’t matter about a god damn entry point if your playing 0.7s every game your not going to ever get better because they all need enough play the same ... which then becomes like PvE 🤣 do you think all these players that are very good at certain activities were like it straight away? No it’s called practice and by having a decent it makes you play better.
-
No thanks - I want just as casual an experience as you do. That means playing with people at my skill level - not with someone who has 70 flawless runs - if you disagree with that then it’s clear you’re just looking for an easy stomp - because if you did care about actually being good at all, you would always want to be playing better...against those of at least your skill level... Get it?
-
To me it doesn’t bother me whether it’s SBmm or Cbmm because I will be fine either way? The thing that’s funny is everyone that’s crying thinks everyone there against is good when really there’s no that many people that really are that good 😂

I just won’t play it - problem solved. I want a casual experience- a few games a week - no ambition to get better or be a pro- so why am I matched up against unbroken and flawless players? You have strikes - you have nightfalls- you have raids. Three tiers and all accessible to different skill sets. Then you have crucible- no entry point and pitted against the best in the world on your first match. If getting good and finding skill was really your motivation then you wouldn’t WANT to play against casuals like me... But you do - because you’re really not that good - and you like to pretend you are by stacking your stats against Newbs and casuals.. Right...
