@kollin4 same here. Just received this warning and it is not my connection.
Dec 3, 2020
I logged in to Destiny today and received a message from Bungie warning of restrictions for poor network connectivity. Yesterday in game, I kept receiving the error message 'contacting Destiny servers' but didn't know why. Occasionally booted to orbit from the tower for no reason.
- Not experiencing connection errors with any other service
- I use a wired Ethernet connection with 100Mb down and 40Mb up
- I have played Destiny since the Beta release and never received this message
- I ran speed tests on the PS5 and with the ISP and both confirm this connection speed (close to the maximum), with 7ms ping
My connection is good and there must be some other cause - more likely with Bungie, Sony or the ISP. The PS5 is new, perhaps there is a fault with the console, but no other issues are apparent. Streaming services run without issue.
I followed the link Bungie provided at Bunie.net/restrictions to the Playstation support site and Sony had this message:
"You may experience somewhat slower or delayed game downloads because we're working with ISPs to manage download traffic. We believe it's important to do our part to address internet stability concerns as an unprecedented number of people are staying home and practising social distancing. We appreciate the support and understanding from our community."
Could this be the cause of connection issues? Bungie is needlessly restricting Playstation players for a Sony issue?
Despite being a loyal player the last 6 years, Bungie falsely accuse me of poor network connection without properly investigating the cause. My enjoyment of the game has been affected by these issues which are not at my end and Bungie add insult to injury by threatening restrictions? Where is the incentive to keep playing? I do not manipulate the network. The problem has always been that Bungie do not provide dedicated servers.
Bungie, please investigate and acknowledge there is a wider problem and not individual users.

I received a two week matchmaking ban for the same issue. My connection is fine. It's a Bungie or Playstation issue. Either way it really sucks. Now I'll miss out on Iron Banner next week.

I may have found the cause. On PS5 should enable the power save setting to allow turning on from network. No longer see messages about LAN cable being disconnected. Also stopped using rest mode. Always shutdown console.

That sucks. You should appeal. Bungie needs to realise there are other causes.

That really sucks, It's weird that it keeps happening for you on PlayStation though. For me this only affects me on PC, I have an Xbox thankfully that can run it fine, but when I go for PC this happens.
