Stasis has definitely put an emphasis on primary play.
Seriously. I have gotten more primary kills than ever before and I'm finding myself in far more situations where a primary is the better choice. I just got a We Ran Out of Medals with only Ace of Spades. No shotgun or heavy kills at all.
Say what you want about stasis, but it paired with the primary changes have managed to put an emphasis on primaries without nerfing specials or the ammo economy.
This is an incredible change and I'm loving this sandbox far more than any previous one.

Edited by Lord Ignatius: 12/1/2020 8:02:41 PMAt least someone has eyes. All the anti stasis posts is people saying it eliminates gun skill or encourages special. It was broken for a few weeks and the warlock was strong though hit hard but still far better than Dawnblade and striker metas.

It's in a nice place while people still settle into what they want to use. Pulse rifles are good (No time is a monster), Hand Cannons all feel viable now, Side Arms are scary, Auto are Autos.

I 100% agree with you stasis is actually making people self conscious about pushing a lane or choke point without thinking. I’ve been enjoying pairing sweet business or no time to explain with ice fall mantle.

1 ReplyCan you do that without using Ace, Thorn or any Hand Cannon? Just curious because of how Ace functions would make it possible for anyone to get we ran out of medals depending on their competition.

I don’t think it’s stasis. I think it has to do with them buffing hand cannons and needing auto rifles.

1 ReplyPlus people that group up (butt buddies) and team shoot get punished by the Duskfield grenade. I wasn’t a fan of Stasis at first, but I’m slowly starting to enjoy it.

Of course the primary gunplay works sincy you can innately counter spacials and supers and you have home advantage, but the sandbox is still not that well balanced even if I too do enjoy the primary play a bit more. Imo the icewall grenades need a bit of a look at, easily the most lethal and safe one shot potential in game.

2 RepliesDisagree. The current sandbox promotes death balling around the map with shotguns or laning with primaries. I still find it very easy to snipe with my twilight oath, but the amount of people living in spawn with pulses or just mindlessly sprinting (and titan sliding) around with shotguns in groups is just terrible. IMO: Slowing down primary ttk, nerfing snipers and introducing some crazy movement options with titan slide and bakris but not tuning shotguns to compensate was a HUGE mistake. Also, the sniper nerf was well warranted but not having any high handling low zoom options that aren’t sunset is just stupid. I want to be able to sacrifice aim assist for a wider FoV and fast handling but bungie only wants snipers to play the long range clunky roll, which 120 hand cannons fit better anyway... And finally, the PvP map rotation is absolute garbage. Twilight gap? Anomaly? Wormhaven? Why are these even in 6v6 rotation...

3 RepliesPeople HAVE to respect these abilities and rushing has definitely taken a hit due to them. Sniping AA also took out most of the trash sniper users. I do enjoy this meta. Lots of primary play and plenty of guns still are viable. 600 RPMs didn’t get destroyed. High impact Pulses can 2 burst. 120s are ridiculously strong. 140s are crisp and got decent range. 180s are also decent. 150 scouts on the larger maps are a problem. Sub machine guns are useless. Sidearms still melt. High impact fusions still melt from decent range. Etc etc etc

1 ReplyConsidering Destiny PvP is there to chill and play rather than being a competitive, I'm fine with stasis in pvp. Althoughy experience hasnt been the same as you. I see ability spams, ice crystals going up and down, sure there is gunplay but no more than before if not a little less due to people want to run stasis and use the abilities which is fair since its new. I use status as much as I can until I actually need to do damage with my super and not freeze my target

Hate stasis. I’m at 3100 in comp and haven’t hated it as much. Only the four stacked teams of eye mask titans was worse. Running at you with over shielded and roaming supers. Now it’s all freeze and slow making movements and gun fights often determined by been frozen.

This is a great sandbox, not purely because of stasis though. A lot more primaries just became viable.

Very true. I love how Stasis is a strong counter to non aerial ape antics and create alot of cool primary battle situations like shooting through openings in Stasis crystals or through dusl field grenades.

1 ReplyI just think the freezing is a little too much. Sure maybe in your super but for nades/melee it should just slow you. That's punishing enough without having little to no way of countering. (Minus jumping)

7 RepliesPrimary gunskill does not count when someone is slowed or frozen. Primary gunskill does not factor in when you are shooting somebody who is frozen or lost in the sauce with a handling debuff
