An odd figure walks boldly along the road that his companions had taken before him. His skin was gold and his skin was ash, divided down the middle and yet connected.
He wore a mantle of gold and its weight was both upon his soul and his shoulders. For the mantle on his soul was stifling and liberating, giving new freedom to the lord of duality and giving bondage to him who put the mantle on. The burden was worth it, and he understood this, more so than the wizard who sought to understand it or the warrior who could not now be cared to wonder at it.
Lord Vivec journeyed with spear in hand down the road.
Chain 2
The Witch runs to the treeline, then something is tossed out of the woods, landing in the road before her, and she comes to a complete stop.
-
I continue running to catch up to the witch, but for a moment I slow, surprised by the action. I tilt my head to the side and try to see what the object was.
-
It appears to be the head of a horse, and in the shadow of the trees you can see three pairs of pale eyes staring back...
-
"Well, that's disconcerting..." I raise my spear and advance slowly, trying to see what is hidden.
-
Perception pls!
-
Uh oh, nat 1!
-
The creature appears blurry, almost as if your eyes refuse to focus upon it. The witch takes a step back and the eyes shift back to her in unison, then you hear a series of clicks that almost sound like laughter...
-
"Witch! Whatever it is that is in the bush, you will find me more merciful. Surrender to me now, and we will have strength in numbers as well as mercy."
-
The witch turns to you, terror in her eyes, and as she opens her mouth to speak the creature strikes! Large and thin with a gray, vaguely feline body. The creature is mostly hairless with patches of long fur, and lashing tendrils along its spine. It has three sets of pale eyes and six exaggerated limbs ending with curved talons. The Nightmare tears into the Witch, smiling with rows of needle like teeth!
-
"Oh! That's not right..." I turn to the defenders behind me and wave my arm, motioning for them to get back. "Go! I'll take care of this, get somewhere safe!"
-
You turn back as a great ball of blue flame engulfs the Nightmare! When it clears, the creature and the witch are gone. Then you notice her leaning against a nearby tree, bloody, but still breathing. The travelers take this opportunity to take cover within the wagons and the larger man with the bow approaches, looking around cautiously. "Thanks for your help, friend."
-
As you travel down the old brick road, you hear rustling in the brush around you...
-
I stop and plant my spear in the ground. I then turn to the bush and cross my arms. "Who are what are you? I can hear you quite well, whatever you are."
-
A sickly pale man slowly crawls out of a nearby bush. As he does so, you hear more rustling behind you...
-
I begin moving up the road to try and keep the man and whatever is making the noise from flanking me. "Who are you, sir? You seem sick, I don't suppose you'd let me help you?"
-
You get a better look at the man, his red eyes and long sharp claws, and the fangs he reveals as he hisses... then something leaps out of the bushes to your left! (Because I completely forgot to specify directions, so is left now!)
-
"I take it you aren't here to join my little pilgrimage." I begin to back up as I point my spear towards the man and look at what has emerged from the bushes.
-
A bunny sprints between you two as the vampire lunges!
Would you like to do your own rolls or shall I?
-
Sorry for such a late reply! I can roll for myself if that works for you.
As he lunges I will take a step back and lunge with my spear, trying to hit him with his own momentum. 24 to hit!
-
You succeed, stabbing the vampire through its shoulder!
-
With my spear lodged in the vampire's shoulder, I try to use the leverage to push it down to the ground and pin it.
-
You do so, it struggles and claws at your spear helplessly!
I have rolled three 1s in a row, lol
-
This thing must have angered someone in heaven to have such bad rolls...
I keep pushing down on the spear to keep it down, then I raise my left hand and prepare a blast of magic as arcane mist flits about my fingertips. I then will let fly the blast at the prone vampire if all goes well. A 10.
I'm working on making a 5e sheet for "Vivec" , so I don't have to rely on "magic blast" for my descriptive power.
-
The vampire struggles and dodges the attack, then reaches out and claws at your chest! (15 for 7 damage!)
-
I pull back, trying to get out of the range of its claws as bring the spear back, then jab at my for twice. 17 for 6 damage and 15 for 9!
