Dunemarchers Vs Synthoceps for Burning Maul Titan

Which do you think are better, overall for that Subclass tree? Also, regarding Synthoceps, what exactly do they, and don’t they affect? Asking because I’m trying to decide which subclass I’m going to focus on in Shadowkeep(Between Burning Maul and Banner Shield)and I’m trying to learn as much as I can about the exotics that best go with each of them. Any other suggestions for useful Exotics for this Subclass tree?

  • I know Dunemarchers are very popular for pvp, but for pve it can be pretty underwhelming in certain content. Normal strikes or Gambit really let them shine, but there's just other exotics that can excel more than Dunemarchers like Insurmountable Skullfort, Peregrine Greaves, Doom Fang Pauldrons, Heart of Inmost Light, Phoenix Cradle, Helm of Saint-14, and Synthoceps in general or stuff like master difficulty content. With the buff to the range of the linear actuator perk from 12 to 20 meters has made them very solid in pvp and low-end pve content, but they really hinder you in the higher-end content. If they could tweak it to stack or work with melee buffs like Roaring Flames on Burning Maul or Knockout on bottom tree Striker they'd be a high tier exotic all around. Like for Burning Maul if you throw your hammer and get 3 or more kills with linear actuator it immediately procs Roaring Flames x3. Then the melee itself is stronger and the chain lightning is also buffed from the Roaring Flames perk. So linear actuator benefiting the subclass and vice versa (which Bungie can separately tweak for pve and pvp for balance). Another minor problem I have with them is every other melee based super on Titans proc linear actuator. Striker and Sentinel shield proc the perk, but the light/spin attack on Burning Maul doesn't which is really weird since it looks and feels like a melee attack.
