three damn weeks, three weeks I've been looking for a 1060 helmet, this is bs, I don't enjoy doing every useless pinnacle activities for 3 weeks straight just to raise my power from 1059.8 to 1060, you can't justify this, I did gos more than 40 times, got the title 3 or 4 months ago, and last week was the first time my warlock got the gos helmet, if their algorithm is working as intended well their algorithm sucks dick

Helm was flawless in trials 3 weeks ago on dead cliffs...

Oh it’s definitely working as intended. As long as you don’t get everything you need, you’ll keep playing. Bungie has no incentive at all to change the system.

Edited by TwinStripeUK: 7/16/2020 8:42:38 AMI've spent three weeks actually trying to get a pinnacle drop higher than what I already have in that slot (I've been 1052 for just over a month with half my gear at 1053)! My 3 'higher drops' for the week at the prismatic recaster also drop at (and sometimes BELOW) my current light level. Everything else drops at (or below) softcap INCLUDING the last three exotics I've picked up. And this is all in a game where the only real 'goal' is to get to max level (as indicated by the 'bounty grind' structure of the season passes). So here's the homework assignment that I dearly wish Bungie would read: 'If the only 'point' in playing your game is to carry on levelling until you reach max level, but you actually make it impossible to keep levelling until you reach max level, is there actually any point in playing your game?' What if, im just spitballin’ here, we were to offer you an out, a way to escape this tedious system? It just could just cost you something, nothing too big of course, it would be a fraction of the cost of the game itself, a “micro-transaction” if you will. It certainly wouldnt be pay to win, just pay to skip the RNG

You are doing something wrong. Pinnacles drop one or two points above your average equipment power. If your gear is all 1052 and 1053 then your average will be 1052 and the drop should be at 1054. You can see what your average is by looking in collections and adding 20 to the number you can pull gear from collections at. Your light includes your artefact bonus so don’t get confused by that. TIP : Use umbral engrams to fill holes then get your +2s. ALWAYS fill a hole if it will make your average go up before getting the next boost. Typically Save +1s for RNG efforts. If getting higher is important to you you should do GOS on all 3 characters every week.

I know what it 'should' do, it's just not doing it - the drops are (as I said in the post) either at, or below my current level. All of my armour is 1053, and my weapons are 1052, so I should be getting drops within the 1053 (low) to 1054 (high) range, with the prismatic recaster alone providing at least one +2 and three +1 drops per week. Instead, the highest drops I'm getting are all 1053, and thanks Bungie's patented NRRNG, those are all for armour slots which are already at that level. In fact, last week the 'Means to an End' quest gave me a 1053 drop and my first three umbrals for the week (which should all have been +1, dropped at 1050, 1050 and 1049. My clan engrams all dropped at 1052, the three exotics I got last week all dropped at 1050. Incidentally, you can also check your average light level by just hovering over the level in the character tab, where it shows the gear and artefact levels separately, you don't need to do all that 'collections and math nonsense'. The only thing I'm doing wrong is holding out that this will ever change, because it certainly won't while Bungie refuse to address it and other people keep refusing to acknowledge that the problem exists.
-
You are wrong. Hovering over artefact shows only equipped gear. Apologies for trying to help you.
-
Did I say 'hover over the artefact'? Hover over where it shows your level - you'll see the base gear level listed. That's twice now that you've 'tried to help me' by not reading the post in the first place - please don't try again...
-
You are right I meant your level not the artefact. Just humour me and check what number you get when hovering over collections after putting a low level piece of gear on. Your level shows equiped gear and your collections show your best gear minus 20. They will be different if you don’t have your best gear equipped.

As much as I understand people having several time in a row the same pinacle drop, I think that it's normal (on a mathematical point of view with pure RNG ), that if you need only one last item, this one is going to take much more time to drop (the helmet in you case). But I get that it can be exasperating !

I know right? Is beyond ridiculous
