Revert back to the D1 system of reputation instead of tokens
I think everyone is a little tired of having to turn in a bunch of tokens for legendaries, especially for vanguard, gunsmith, and crucible. Gambit doesn’t even have them so you’re forced to play gambit for drops.
Making rank ups reputation-based would eliminate the tedious process of turning in tokens and would open up new possibilities.
For example, the rank up system could be implemented with a new consumable that gives you a huge amount of reputation for tokens. However, there could also be a rotating inventory of randomly rolled legendaries for each vendor, so instead of getting random rewards you could choose a weapon with the roll that you want. You could even have another set of weapons that are masterworked random rolls (or can be curated) as well.
In addition to that it would also be a good idea to add increasing levels of rewards for each rank-up, sort of like glory, infamy, valor, and even like the Seraph bunkers. Higher ranks drop masterwork materials, higher tiers of powerful rewards, and even pinnacles too. This would of course reset each season.
This would be a huge boon (no pun intended) to the playlist activities, which barely have any replayability after getting your pinnacle and powerful from them each week and of course the slogging bounty completion. And, it also might revitalize patrols too if they awarded vanguard reputation, but that’s another topic for another time.
TL;DR: The reputations system from D1 is vastly superior to the current one, and could be expanded upon to breathe new life into the playlist activities with an engaging rewards system
