Destiny 2

Discuss all things Destiny 2.

The Beginning of the End...

TL/DR: Skip to the final paragraphs and discuss my idea! Many veteran Destiny players are leaving the game, a substantial amount of whom likely for good. As a D1 veteran myself, I acknowledge the unceremonious decline in Destiny 2’s content quality. Lately, many prominent community members have been advocating for a return to DLC content like that which existed in Destiny 1. As years go by since content releases were orchestrated in that manner, players — myself included — tend to forget how frustrating and frankly boring that system became mere weeks after content releases. However, it would be an understatement to suggest the system we find ourselves in today (Bi-monthly Seasonal Content) is in any way superior to the drought-rich days of early-to-mid Destiny 1. In addition to lack of engaging and rewarding content is server and network related issues that have only been exacerbated by the reintroduction of the apex PvP activity Trials of Osiris. Even in Trials, an activity meant to bolster Destiny’s PvP community, has been massacred by cheaters (predominantly PC issue) and a reward system that has led many non-god tier players to abandon the game mode. I am a 1.64KD player and I count myself among the latter. It is important to remember that back in 2014, the Destiny franchise launched with the backing of one of the most powerful electronic entertainment companies in the world, Activision, and an astronomical $550M budget because of that. With the fairly recent divorce between Bungie and Activision, we must remember that we, and Bungie, are now charting a path for this game alone. This is not an excuse or a redeeming explanation, but a fact me must accept moving forward. While I am now overwhelmingly disappointed by Destiny 2, a game which I have played religiously for 6 years, I have the utmost confidence that Bungie can and will turn the tide. Moving Forward : Here are a couple additions/modifications I think would provide all players incentive to log in: • Abandon the token system that plagues EVERY vendor in Destiny. Specifically, make tower vendors sell each item in their loot pool as they did in Destiny 1, with weekly perk rotation. Tower vendor bounties should be available with the express purpose of providing Guardians a chance at loot sold from those vendors from past expansions, alongside XP. For example, consider you’re in TTK Destiny 1: Lord Shaxx is only selling weapons from the The Taken King Expansion those ugly blue/green guns). Upon completing his bounties, Guardians will have a chance at receiving iconic weapons from previous expansions like the Longbow Synthesis Sniper, even TFWPKY Hand Cannon. • All new exotics should be locked behind activity completion, and World Drop exotics should have a DRASTICALLY lowered drop rate outside of higher level activities like Nightfalls, Trials of Osiris, Raids and maybe Valor +1/ Glory +2 Rank Resets. • Abandon the PvE Champion system: it’s pointless, makes no sense, and only serves to increase encounter difficulty. • Nightfall difficulty should be determined by the following and the following alone: unique, rotating challenges that slightly alter the course of a strike. For instance, Adept and Hero level nightfalls will remains the same, while Legend and Master level Nightfalls will, in addition to higher light requirements, have a unique objective that differs from the normal strike: discovering a different route to the boss room or throwing orbs at a hidden target somewhere along the strike. • Nightfall exclusive loot like the Mindbender’s Ambition and the DFA Hand Cannon should be entirely unique, somewhat like pinnacle/ritual weapons though slightly less powerful. Be it a unique fire rate or entirely new weapon design. • Bring back Venus. I F***ing love Venus. This would be entirely new but awesome: • Every week, Banshee-44 should sell weapon configurations. For 100’000 glimmer a piece, the player can purchase a weapon frame (not like Ada-1’s frames, rather solely cosmetic frames). Banshee would then have you go out into the world in search of further components to that frame. The components should not be pre-determined, meaning you can apply any combination of weapon components you find while playing Destiny’s activities. + Barrel + Sight + Stock + Magazine + Trigger System (Fire Rate) For instance, Public Event chests should randomly provide one of those components upon completion, and Heroic Public Events reward Legendary/Exotic tier components. Take these components to Banshee, and by the following reset, the guardian will have a brand-new customized weapon. Because these weapons can be built from Common, Rare, Legendary, and Exotic components, they should be given an entirely new colour scheme in the Character Screen — Red or Platinum. One more thing: These customized weapons will be ‘enchantable’ somewhat like the Enchanting system in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Individual vendors, i.e. Zavala will sell damage-increasing perks like Rampage, Ana Bray will sell reload related perks like Outlaw, and Eris Morn will provide bizzare perks like Clown Cartridge because she’s literally insane. All which can be applied to your weapon. I’m apologize, this is a rediculously kong forum post. Rather than shit on game mechanics everybody and Bungie knows don’t work or should be changed, let’s give Bungie some ideas that aren’t totally far fetched or impossible for Bungie to integrate. Tell me your ideas in the comments!!

Quick ? Do you believe you will see any of that? Look at the only "new" weapons this season. Know what is wrong with them? They suck. the perk pools of them are not good. The handcannon look at that. It is a 180 with 8 rounds? Here is the thing. I think this has purpose to it. What if in their efforts to get players to chase mods so they can make explosive orbs to shoot.....instead of shooting enemies. What if their desire is to make sure weapons don't matter. I know you would laugh at that but hey they have people grinding nightfalls right now for upgrade materials....seriously. Now move the clock forward to fall. Let's say the next season is much like this one isn't that a tough thing to think but we really know it is likely. The tiny bit of weapons are also just not good. Here we are going into the fall with the weapon reset and all those old GREAT weapons are no longer viable...despite them telling you they will be come on we were there. We remember how it went. Can't upgrade it..back to the vault.....and eventually deleted. All the good weapons are gone and bungie has everyone trying to shoot a ball rolling off the edge of the ledge....again. The only way this doesn't go this way in my opinion is if this mess we are in has already been abandoned and they really are going to try to swing the ship yet again in another direction because what I have outlined here is what I believe the current direction is all about.

    • Many good ideas. Bungie doesn’t think this hard about their game.
