Naming and shaming

Is it worth naming the accounts that have been cheating/hacking so that the community know and record it? I haven't encountered any, but I haven't been taking part in trials.

  • Naming and shaming is against the Code of Conduct Policy on bungie.net, as it can create a witch-hunt mentality against someone who may not actually be guilty of what they're being accused of. If you suspect cheating or another reportable offense, please use the in-game report system. For those who want to take the extra step or are unable to report them in-game, you may use the manual tool here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=13967 Please keep in mind that before using this tool, you are positive of the person's wrongdoing. Misuse of this tool can result in disciplinary action against your account.

  • You can name and shame an account that doesn't exist and you'll be banned from the forums lmao.

  • I should mention when writing this I had not fully read the guidelines. I thought that with multiple documented evidence e.g. shooting through walls, an accurate report could be made against cheaters/hackers and make it easier to clean up the PvP scene. I did realise after, that a witch-hunt mentality, false reports and harassment could happen. I never agree with publicly outing someone, with some exceptions. I just thought that this would help relieve pressure and remove the people causing problems.

  • No. Bungie is very clear on their stance when it comes to name shaming.
