Unfortunately your assessment is correct. Bungie can help in changing the cross save account when it is enabled between the existing linked accounts. What Bungie can't do is add or remove accounts to player's profiles. So yes, you will have to disable cross save, unlink the test Xbox account, then add the correct Xbox account and then wait 90 days to re-enable cross save. There is just no way around it.

Thank you for the quick response. I mean, I understand that the 90 day wait period is to prevent fraud, but they should at least be able to help by lifting the 90 day wait period for situations like this, especially if I am able to verify my account info. I wish they had a direct support email or something as well, this is a terrible situation. I just purchased the destiny 2 upgrade bundle on my ps4 (I paid full price for ALL the dlc on my xbox acct, however I no longer have my xbox anymore) as a customer, I feel underwhelmed by the lack of support. Many companies, both larger and smaller than bungie, have a customer support email or chat.

Wrong. Anyone can type anything on the screen to try and circumvent the cooldown. While you may very well be truthful, bugie has now way of knowing who is being legit and who isnt. Unfortunately due to dishonest players, everyone has to sit with the cooldown rule

Feel free to read Bungie’s policy on cross-save, and deactivation of cross-save. There are no exceptions to the 90 day lockout policy, regardless of why cross-save is deactivated. https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=48099
