Should change your name to BitterBadger
Should change your name to BitterBadger
You're the edgy gamer chick that's touting a game world that was created by Uncle Ed as a vessel to hold his childhood stories, it's Disney D&D with overly familiar parts of Greyhawk slapped on it to appease the masses. You need more Dark Sun and Planescape (or even Eberron) in your gaming diet. Who am I kidding? You've been holding out on us and have your own pocket of the Ravenloft plane carved out. BitterBadger moniker is accurate and not disputed. 🎯

My groups pretty much stick to homebrew worlds, which are essentially childhood stories given their own setting! I've read a few rumors and theories that Wizards is planning a Dark Sun thing in the future. I've worked a bit on my own sort of setting. Grimdark, some horror, less magic, more technology, plagues, a Cold War between kingdoms, and a bit of colonial expansion and exploration on the edges of the map.

I somehow doubt your childhood stories are Disney stories, Secret of Nimh sbd Dragonslayer notwithstanding. Magic saturation of the world is my big beef with FR. Greyhawk used to be like that but got dialed back and seemed more like Dark Ages Europe some time after the From the Ashes boxed set. It certainly felt darker than FR material that was circulating at the sane time. I prefer the Grimdark feel too, and have played that way before people put a name to it. That's probably because I'm a big fan of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and its Europe, but not quite, Old World setting. I'm fine with some magic rich/weird world settings, I loved the handful of Stormbringer sessions I played in. But my heart is really in the Grimdark feel of WFRP & DCC or the Sword & Sorcery/Sword & Sandals stuff that makes up Lankhmar and Conan gaming. Dark Sun is long overdue for some love from WotC.
