Buffing the neutral game would be more interesting. The subclass was pretty bad even before the Daybreak changes. The super was the only thing that made even worth considering.
Here are some potential changes that could make the tree better in general.
-New focus of the subclass would be to set as many enemies on fire as possible. Every ability can set enemies alight. Burn damage would be minimal in PvP (2-3 per tick), but much higher in PvE. Burns can stack up to 5 times, but each ability only applies one (except Flame Jet). Burn effects last for 4 seconds (one tick every 0.4 seconds).
-New Melee Ability: Flame Jet: Press and hold the melee button to release a continuous stream of fire from your hand, which ignites enemies. Doing this gradually uses up melee energy, but can only be activated when energy is full.
[This ability can be held for up to three seconds, and applies one burn for each second it is touching an enemy.]
-Oxidize: Charge your grenade to apply a burn effect to it, allowing it to ignite enemies.
-Wildfire: Killing an ignited enemy restores energy for all abilities. Ignited enemies explode upon death, igniting nearby enemies. Daybreak kills extend its duration and Daybreak projectiles ignite enemies.
-Phoenix Dive (rework): Hold crouch to slam to the ground and release a blast of fire (cooldown is now 25 seconds outside of super), which can ignite enemies. During Daybreak, this blast is MUCH more powerful.
These changes would give this skill tree a much-needed neutral game buff, while also preserving some of the things that make the super so good.

Some interesting ideas, though I rather like the healing Phoenix Dive currently provides instead. Considering I can recover all of my health in the time it takes me to just cast a Rift by using it, and it's only on about a 5 second cooldown instead of a 30 or so cooldown. Personally I'd rather the activation time of Phoenix Dive was cut in half, or it gave a weak overshield when in use (as soon as you tap the hotkey) to make it a more reliable ability to use when taking fire.

When you say phoenix dive you aren’t jumping in your description so it sounds like it must be done on the ground

Nice ideas. To add, they also need to make Eye of another World mark targets like OEM! Warlocks have nothing to "see through walls" Mean while Titans and hunters running around with wallhack armour and supers.

Sanguine Alchemy would like to say hello

That’s actually a couple of interesting ideas.

Buffing the neutral game requires work, reverting the nerfs is the fastest way for lazy bungie boys
