Sunbreaker Build- Bottom Tree Hammers

Bottom Tree Sunbreaker Exotic: Pheonix Cradle (legs) Polaris Lance (Energy Scout) Mods: Ashes to Assets (preferably Enhanced or stacked) Discipline Mod, Breach Resonator, Solar Plexus, Molten Overload 100 Discipline
Before anyone says anything, no, Jotunn and Prometheus Lens doesn't work with this build, neither does Sunshot or Monarque. None of those weapons apply a burn. Sunshot is explosive damage, Monarque is poison, and Jotunn and Lens are AOE DoT damage. The only weapon that applies burn with how the Bottom Tree Hammers wants to register what a 'burn' is Polaris Lance.
Basically... anyone who mains hammer Titan probably knows how to do this. But... for those that don't know, when you get a solar ability kill on Bottom Tree Hammer Titan, you create a Sunspot. Standing in a Sunspot regens your grenade and melee energy quickly, and gives you increased damage for everything by 20% as long as you have the Sun Warrior buff. If you have the Sun Warrior buff- there is a chance any kill you get with a weapon will spawn a Sun Spot. Which it doesn't say on the perk but it does. So you can make loads of Sunspots right? To make that easier, Polaris Lance's Perfect Fifth perk causes burn damage that is coded like the Sunbreaker's bottom Melee ability, allowing it to create Sun Spots as long as the target dies to the burn or dies while the burn affect is applied. (it sounds hard, but in practice, it's rather easy to do) So the ability to create Sunspots on demand, always have 20% more damage... Having Pheonix Cradle on buffs the duration of Sunspots, and allows teammates to pass through them to gain the Sun Warrior buff as well. Helping your team while helping yourself. I'm not sure, because no one in my clan plays Hammer Titan so I could not test, if you have multiple Bottom Tree Hammer Titans, you might be able to chain the Sunspot generation between everyone. Having 100 Discipline with the help of your armor and mods shortens that cool down of your grenade to the point you blink and it's back via normal cool down or while in a Sunspot. Allowing you to help make Sunspots easily, as well take advantage of Molten Overload. Breach Resonator helps when your team runs weapons with shield piercing mods or perks so it's more of a passive mod that you just steal their hard work. Giving you grenade and melee energy from their kills. Solar Plexus is mostly there to help your Melee hit harder if you feel like punching something. These two mods are temporary for this season only, but- the build will work without the two mods even after the season ends. It's just a nice little bonus to have. Ashes to Assets is... self explanatory. If you've got all these grenades... start throwing them for super energy. You'll have a super in no time. Since everyone jumped on the hammer throwing build for middle tree at the start, I figured now was a good time to remind people that this existed as well. The build is decent for solo play, mainly cause you can have constant burn damage, easy ad clear- specially with the Polaris Catalyst, equipping a shotgun helps take care of anything that gets close- specially with 20% damage from Sun Warrior. If you're putting Sunspots down everywhere, odds are someone will run through it for a damage buff, or you're making the floor lava for AI to run through and die. Is this better than just running Helm of Saint 14 and a Bubble? Depends on your play style. If you don't like being a Bubble Dispenser, this isn't a bad option to go with, specially if your team already has a bubble Titan. Will this work in PvP? ... you're a brave man if you want to try.

  • While I like Phoenix Cradle, Ashen Wake is the best exotic for Siegebreaker. Not only is it fun but it is top tier for Sunspot generation.

  • I have a Bottom Tree build as well: Max Discipline A Fine Memorial with Demolitionist Every Machine Gun mod, including the bonus super energy mod Molten Overload and Disruptor Spike Enhanced Ashes to Asset, Bomber, one of three Armament mods, and a Minor Resist Class Item Ashen Wake I throw a sticky grenade, which detonates instantly, so I can hit the floor or wall next to an enemy and still kill them (it works a lot like Mountaintop). I stand in the Sunspot and use a Rally Barricade for protection and a shooting platform. The grenade kill reloads my MG, gives me Super energy, and makes a Sunspot, which, alongside my Barricade, refills my grenade again. I get MG kills for a bit and, when it's time to move forward, another grenade goes out to make another Sunspot. If I'm fighting Hive, Fallen, or Taken, each kill also gives me MG ammo. If I face something that my grenade and MG can't handle, I grenade it to Disrupt it and then lay into it with something like Merciless, Lord of Wolves, Izanagi. etc...

  • its even better when you have this guy on you team running this loadoutand you are running heart of inmost light. you can stand in a sunspot and just whip nades everywhere. like 3-6 nades per sunspot depending on your load out, I like to run double perpetuation so I can stand in the sunspot and pop barricades to get my nades recharge time to be near instant!

  • Regarding you mentioning that there’s only a chance that a sunspot will spawn on kill, I’m pretty sure each enemy of different tiers are worth so much credit towards dropping a sunspot. I think it’s four red bars for one sunspot, and I wanna say killing a single yellow bar drops one. Not sure about orange bars.

    • Does the burn from Jötunn trigger the sunspots as well?

        • Must give this a try. Been running Hallowfire Heart with Molten Overload and Disruptor Spike on it and Solar Plexus on the class mod. The key is to maximise super regen so you get the maximum out of Hallowfire Heart's improved ability regen. Also fun with brawler and grenadier buffs.

        • I've used bottom tree sunbreaker as a whole more than the entirety of the striker class and I think it is by far one of the most under rated skill trees. Even before the buff it got this season (I think it was this season?) it was already quite potent in pve and at times in PvP. The buffs definitely make it way better than it used to be though. The only problem I have with it currently is that kills that generate sunspots due to sun warrior being active and not because of an ability, will actually not work with Phoenix cradle. Maybe they fixed that as I haven't played with the cradle in a bit, but last I checked it didn't work properly. Oh also, I think Polaris lance is still glitches on the perfect 5th so everyone that wants to try out this build, make sure to not shoot until after the explosive shot detonates, otherwise it will turn into smoke like a group of people in a well of radiance and a hungry thundercrash titan.

        • Damn, the "No one in my clan plays Titan" hit me hard. My last raid group I ran around with for a few months was devoid of Titans, except for me. But yes, sun spots for everyone. Also, it buffs the damage of bombardier bombs and the warlock rift chestpiece arc shockwave thingy. It buffs all outgoing damage. Basically, sunspots are awesome, burn the world and do it with friends is what this build is.

          • It isn't a random chance for sunspots to spawn on enemy kill. While you have sun warrior, killing enemies racks up points. When you reach 4 points, the enemy that brought you to 4 points creates a sunspot at their corpse. Standard enemies count as 1 point, orange bars count as 2 points, and bosses/yellow bars and guardians count for all 4 points.

            • I love seeing what builds others create. It's solid, I'll grant you that. I'm curious myself how Two Sunbreaker's Sunspots interact with that exotic on...

            • So what you're saying in short is this could break PvP and needs adjusting accordingly? As Frankie Boyle used to say from time to time "Good luck with that"
