For many, fomo has nothing to do with money.
Its about time and feeling rushed to get in or be left behind and miss out on a game changing reward.

It's just another part of the game that will always be gone once it's gone, leaving you wondering "this turd won't last, why am I even playing it?“.
-
Exactly! $10 is nothing. It's the idea that we're paying for something and have to play within a certain time frame or we never get to play it, because it is then taken away.
-
$10 is still sort of the problem. The content/cost ratio is so off compared to full production content (proper game material). You just end up with a weaker product overall for a short term gain. Burns the game out and that's all she wrote. History is not going to be kind to this generation of games.

I hope history is very harsh to this generation of games. It deserves it. Profits over quality. Anything they can do to monetize even at the expense of putting out a complete and full game. Pretty much all the mobile phone tactics made it's way to consoles and PC. I hate the philosophy of that development. Let's make things take so long for the player hat they'll feel the need to buy something and ease the pain. I wouldn't shed a tear if some of these AAA companies disappear after the inevitable game crash.

Short term* profits. Always keep that in mind. Plenty of people went out of business this generation.

Wow, some of those numbers past the 30s is pretty rough. To some of those at the bottom $1 is huge.
