Let's get more on your thoughts. We're actively collecting feedback to give to the team, and I'd love to get a roundup of not only reaction, but general feedback of what you desired for the Final Assault activity leading up to it. What would have made the Final Assault more interesting or engaging to you as a player?

They have 4ish years of player feedback about what players want but seem dumbfounded that people are unhappy with an over hyped event that saw a current event get . . . a boss reskin 🤦 Bungie knows exactly what would have made final assault engaging but either lack the talent to pull it off or lack the interest to care. But hey . . . keep sending back that feedback . . . yawn.

Guys... all you did was change the shape of the thing I shoot at during the final encounter. That's it. I mean... you really can't think of something... more... creative?

  • I could go into much greater detail into this. There is a lot of pros to this I enjoyed. To keep it short I’ll sum it up. Story: A Ikora bounties: C+ Vex invasions: A Vex offensive: B Vex final assault: C It’s a pass. The big part was the fumble at the end. And that is mainly due to missed opportunities. Here is somethings I would of included or changed for the final assault assuming budget constraints. - The story needed to be emphasized that Ikora’s portal created was meant to highjack the vex portal in the garden to pull in the Undying mind. - Tower cosmetics, festival of the lost just ended and the tower feels really empty after the decorations were removed. Moving some Tower NPCs down to Ikora’s area to simulate the coordinated effort in the final assault would of assist with player immersion. - Community goal, or lack of. This is a missed opportunity. Calus’s mars challenge was a huge success in my opinion. The players had a goal and they crushed that goal in a very short amount of time. Let’s see if it can be done again. Make a goal number of how many times the undying mind has to be taken down and post it somewhere in the game, map preferred. Have it update on reset daily. This will drive the community. - Final assault, ok a few things here. Undying mind during the final assault needed to be more of the focus. Start the encounter vs the boss. Running the events before this runs deep into stagnation territory. Same boss stage and same boss mechanics are fine. Some changes are needed though. We are at the end of the season now. Season artifacts are maxed out and we all have a favourite build utilizing new mods, armour, abilities, exotics, & weapons. We are set to annihilate things. No challenge means no fun. Needed something that would show new light players what a raid boss encounter might be like less the coordinated mechanics. As well as giving the guardians an opportunity to really cut loose with their amassed power. Something worthy of an end of a chapter. - Rewards, this alone is something that should be discussed out side of this event as a whole. Here is what I would have of done though. Seasonal armour & weapon drops are fine. Increase drops to be in proportion to a single encounter vs 3 of course. The emblem is good, always a nice touch. This though should given more value though. Only reward to players that participate. What’s the difference from now? It would be how the the community challenge factors in. Once the goal has been met, is there a reason to keep doing it? Nope, story is complete, so is the event. This would add in a scarcity to the reward, thus increasing its value. Then the real reward would come “if” the community challenge is met. Then the Vanguard rewards the guardians with an arrangement with Tess and get 5000 bright dust. That allows the player to buy one maybe two things from the store before the items are gone from the season. I hope this helps.

  • A reason to play it ... and no, the title isn't a reason. I have zero interest in competing with my fireteam for kills - using inferior weapons - so the title was out of the conversation from the start. What other reason is there to play it? Same trash loot everyone's deleted a million times before it released? Seriously. You guys actually thought this was good enough? Or do you just not care anymore?

  • Here’s what they could have done: Alternative 1: create 3 rotating bosses for the Vex Offensive (1 one of them being the Undying Mind) each with its own mechanics (reusing from events on Nessus, like activating a plate to lower the shield and/or to destroy oracles to lower the Shield). That way the event doesn’t have to be such a big deal in the roadmap. Story wise Ikora can pinpoint the location of the mind during a week an loose it after that and it’s not able to pinpoint it again until two more weeks (like the curse on the dreaming city). Alternative 2: do what you did in the roadmap but in the final assault, the last chest has a higher chance of dropping curated weapons/masterworked armor/mods. That serves as an incentive to keep doing the activity looking for that specific armor/weapon/mod. You can even give Ikora a weekly bounty that will garante a certain armor/mod/ascendant shards/enhanced prism Alternative 3: combine the two with the Undying Mind having the only chance to drop those curated weapons/Masterwork armor/mods/materials. Separate the modes like the nightmare hunts and give the Undying a higher light requirement like 900. Those are my thoughts. Hope it helps.

A farmable imago loop. Or something aaaanything new. Exclusive weapon, piece of armor etc. I feel that would of been enough to replay this final assault.

Copy-pasting from a thread I posted. I think that Vex Offensive: Final Assault shows the failure of seasonal activities. Menagerie was an amazing addition to the game. The culmination of everything learned through the Annual Pass. I was hoping that after the success that was Menagerie, the Season Pass would bring us equally as fun or even better activities. Vex Offensive has proven me wrong, though. Vex Offensive is a dumbed down version of Menagerie, which itself was already a dumbed down version of a raid. Vex Offensive is little more than a 6-man strike. The same thing over and over again on repeat, with the one added benefit of being able to “craft” a few meh weapons. (No specials? No heavies?) Hearing that we were going to fight the Undying Mind again, I got a little excited. I loved the Undying Mind strike in D1, and maybe with the Undying Mind we’d get something different in the Vex Offensive. The result, though? Vex Offensive has remained completely unchanged, only now we’re getting shot at by a Hydra boss instead of a Minotaur boss. And the worst part of it all? Instead of building upon the Vex Offensive and making it better over time, it’s going away forever in less than 3 weeks. That begs the question: if seasonal activities are always going to go away at the end of the season, what incentive does Bungie have to make them fun and interesting beyond the first few runs? It’ll be trashed after a few months anyways, so no point in pouring your heart and soul into it. We won’t be getting any sort of update to the Vex Offensive to take it from something meh to something great like we got with Prison of Elders in D1, because Vex Offensive isn’t permanent. I hope that in the same way that Bungie learned from the Annual Pass to give us Menagerie, they learn from this Season Pass and realize that temporary content is not fun content, and that instead of giving us trash activities that will be gone in a few months, they should be giving us fun activities that can be expanded upon over time. And none of this “evolving world” BS, please. Destiny 1 gave us an evolving world without removing any activities. During House of Wolves we could find HoW Fallen majors on patrol. But once TTK came around, we started running into Taken all over the place. The release of Rise of Iron didn’t result in the loss of the normal Cosmodrome map. (Although given the Risk Runner quest, apparently our world has DEVOLVED back to before the Siva Splicers messed up the Cosmodrome.) /rant I love this game, been playing since The Dark Below, but this ain’t it.

  • I was so pissed of at the Forge season (all of the stupid repetitive shit to even open a Forge) that I stopped playing Destiny 2 for awhile and played Dragon's Dogma. Then I played Borderlands 3 until Shadowkeep. I hear the menagerie was good but I had to take a break or else I would have quit for good. Shadowkeep is alright but the seasonal content is lazy. It's worse than the Forges as far as I'm concerned. If it wasn't for Shadowkeep, which is kind of bare bones so far, I think I would have given up on D2.

  • When I saw vex offensive initially I was hoping for a raid-like activity that'd have some infinite forest like qualities. Maybe some cool new weapons a randomly generated dungeon we go into completing unique vex objectives and leading up to a final encounter. Something similar with unique changes for final assault and maybe some cool exotics or at least ideas that were fun and unique but man you guys really missed the mark. What 4 weapons? 6 including the auto and the lmg from the season pass once they're able to drop and a set of armor that usually have worse stats than the ones you've probably already gotten from the duplicates on the pass? If this is seriously the bar set for premium content then you guys might as well kiss your customers goodbye. Hell I've already given up and the only thing I'm playing for right now is to finish up my undying title so I can wear it proudly to profess that Bundev's greed (much like the vex) is undying. 🙃

  • The only thing I could’ve really recommended was changing the boss’ mechanics and/or a new black garden area that the activity takes place in. Maybe even the triumphant return of Imago Loop. That’s really all I got.

  • Put the new boss fight in an area we’ve already been in but haven’t done VO in. Make the boss harder to kill not easier to kill. Recycle a Vog mechanic of needing a relic bearer to kill the boss like Atheon. Make the vex gate behind Ikora light up and have an appearance of being functional. Small cut scene of Ikora and Vu vu slaying out. Reward from activity pinnacle exotic class item. Community loses their minds. How did this or something similarly simple not happen?! What the actual...

  • Honestly I don’t know what I expected but what we got wasn’t it. At least a different map with a harder boss at the end. You spend a whole season hyping up the “Final Assault” and I won’t lie using the word “final” adds a essence of finality - like we are going to fully end or destroy something, but it was a boss that there are “thousands” of (I’m guessing to increase playability). Additionally seeing the portal in the tower made me believe it would have something to do with the tower? Or at least have it launch from the tower to a new map with a considerably more difficult boss than the normal Vex offensive guy, or have the Vex invade the tower. Some sort of disaster. Maybe that will come but honestly I didn’t understand that. The roadmap and the team at bungie overhyped it for what it was - I’m sorry that’s just how I felt. I rushed home to play it and ended up doing it 3 times just to do the triumph and will never look at it again, and it’s not memorable to me other than being disappointing. You have pulled out some amazing things in the year I’ve been playing - I love the new dungeon and loved Zero Hour quest, because they’re so different and carefully thought out. The Vex Offensive was alright but the Final Assult was just a bit of a slap in the face as it was just a switch of a boss in the same thing we have been doing for weeks. The message is clear here - please continue to create and do what you do best, but stop reskinning things and calling them new. It’s bothersome and boring and the game is so bloody good I just don’t want to feel like I’m sick of something 3 hours after it releases because I’ve already done it before for weeks on end trying to prepare for something hard and “final”. I love the work you do but this one was just a bit like you didn’t care about what you were releasing you just wanted a hype and not to actually please players.

Can you guys stop collecting feedback, and get to work?? I find it so funny that Eververse is updated every reset, as far as inventory. But when a gun is bugged, questline won't complete, etc...its always "we will fix this at the beginning of NEXT SEASON".

  • Final Assault I expected something different. I was expecting a black garden type of strike comparable to a 950 nightfall. Barrier and Overload Champions included. Making it worth the effort would have been having a pinnacle reward at the end at the very least. As for the Undying mind capable of moving through time itself? I was expecting vault of glass kind of mechanics. i.e. use of a shield to deflect and time eraser beam. You're approaching the end of the season and as I see it. Adding one more source of pinnacle to replace the haunted forest wouldn't have been so bad. Final Assault felt so disappointing. I was expecting something more challenging. There has also been a lack of progression with the stories also. Which itself is another matter entirely.

Maybe not having past bosses lazily copy-pasted and relabeled as 'new content.' I mean the death messages weren't even changed from Pagori? I mean if you're going to recycle content, at least make some attempt to give it a face lift. - angry cause I care.

  • I'm sure you guys are taking a lot of abuse of unrealistic expectations and if anyone is really honest about this the community is partially to blame. 1. Everyone expected a major move in some of the side lore. Is Ishtar coming back, Saint 14, etc... so everyone was hoping for something bit. This is mostly the community fault. 2. Even if it didn't move side lore the way it was presented with having world-changing events and progressing storylines we would still have expected a new map or something. Remember, when Zero-Hour started.... that was new and different. Something along those lines would have still been awesome. 3. Bare minimum..... go ahead and reskin the boss. We can handle that and it might be slightly disappointing compared to 1 or 2 but, we can handle it on one condition. New mechanics or much more difficult and/or some unique drop chance. I know it wasn't a complete reskin..... but it's pretty close and very disappointing. If none of the above three could have happened then it should have been "new boss" coming on the road map. No one would have complained.
