Balancing the game? Here's why every incarnation fails...

So yeah, let's put these AMAZING weapons and armor pieces into the game. How do you get one, you ask? Well, you have to play a specific mode, jump through hoops that only 10% of the community is good enough to jump through, while defeating other players that already have this awesome gear. How do they have it already, the game has been updated for 2 days, and I literally just turned my game on for the first time this week. (good job casual, I need something to shoot at) The game has an obvious class separation. On one hand you have players that will dedicate their entire life until they get something that makes the game easier. On the Other hand, you have people that have no chance to complete certain aspects of the game, due to the first class of people impeding their progress. Would this work if the FIRST group helped the second group? Absolutely. Is this something that is expected to happen? LOL no. From the DEVS sure, but the first group will make IRL sacrifices to get that exploitable gear and exploit it. Skipping meals, calling out sick, getting their friends to call out sick, making lies to their friends and family to avoid missing out on getting that gear. I don't know what the aim is in this sort of game development, but over the course of nearly 6 years, this game has created a plethora of people that would rather ruin their IRL to make progress in a video game. I have heard and seen stories of people dying playing MMORPG games, and I have not yet heard anything about Destiny doing such things, but there is a HUGE following of players that simply cannot play the game the way that it is designed, because only a small percentage of players control all the other aspects of the game. Guns like Recluse, which somehow can kill a player before they realize they are being shot, armor that allows players to use a 1 hit kill melee attack without ever needing to cooldown. Armor perks that allow players to see through walls, and use Jade Rabbit's perks to 1 shot lower leveled players in Iron Banner. So yes, the problem is this... You are giving out the BEST guns, which have a distinct advantage for the modes that they are derived from playing. See any issue with that? It's like playing King of the Hill, against a Gorilla. It might be okay, if it were you and a group of your friends, vs. this Gorilla... but it is not. It is your team of random people you don't know, against a team of Gorillas, that know each other, and have tactics. That's Just the PVP side of the issue. The PVE side of the game... The balancing makes absolutely no sense. Why would you raise the difficulty of the entire game, as the player goes up in level. I have personally beaten Nightfalls on my own, completely solo. It's not a huge undertaking, and I have beaten the Raids on my own in Destiny 1, still nothing to see here. My issue is things like beating a Forge, with a random group of people, is nigh impossible. I have run the nightfalls with absolutely no issues, I just finished the quests to get Izanagi's Burden, Lumina, and Thorn. For some reason, enemies now attack me like I am sitting on my sparrow, firing super fast, doing massive damage, and with ridiculous accuracy. Then I can go into a Lost Sector, and kill enemies with an SMG with a single bullet. I am currently Maxed out at 950. I have +11, and 3 pieces of +2 gear. Yet, out of all the times I have played the Forge (bergusia) I think we beat the Tank 2 times, and both times it was after the timer reached zero... because at some point the tank simply stopped taking damage from anything. Slowly sneaking Match game into the main game is already something I find annoying. I actually stopped playing this game the day that Shadowkeep launched, and slowly made my way back into the game. For me, this whole game simply makes zero sense now. The scaling is ridiculous. The Leveling system blocking people that don't NO-LIFE this game. The content locked behind ELITIST barriers, and the fact that the only way to progress is to have Pinnacle Gear, which is untouchable, to the majority of your fanbase. Take a step back, and realize that you have millions of players... Stop trying to cater to a few hundred dozen, that sing your praises to your face, because they NO-LIFED the game for 3 days, and can now melt the rest of your fanbase, every time they log in.

  • You want the truth? Because the Bungie sandbox and crucible teams balance by feel and don't even use as much math / numbers as members of the community do. Slayerage put up a pretty nice video on Recluse lately, and I bet Bungie devs looked at it perplexed and with nervous laughter thinking "Oh, lol, did we make it that OP? Oops. Gotta take 2 more years to figure out how to balance it!" It's a team of morons just doing what they think feels right, and they're terrible at the game themselves. What do you expect?
