Any tips for solo comp (Attempting the git gud)

You name it, I’ve been killed by it, recluse, lunas, mountaintop, revoker, that’s all I’m seeing in comp. I’m 3/4 of the way to getting fabled and I’m just sucking dude, yeah I hit top on my team but I’m just getting devastated by 2-3 stackers with lunas and recluse, And please save your “don’t solo” Because the ‘gang’ doesn’t wanna help anyone else but themselves or their friends’ friends. I’ve been rocking a gunnoras axe due to its range, but it only works so well, and dagger from IB (which is also... meh) Either some tips or something could be beneficial, I’m so close to fabled but I just keep getting dragged away from the light due to me not being good enough to carry harder. Edit: I finally got to get the recluse a little time ago, I’m now working on the Revoker! Wish me luck!

Use the freelance queue. Play at different times and see if there’s any pattern to when you do better. I’m not a good PvP player and went from 0 to fabled 1 in 23 games yesterday. I had a lot of losses early on and came close to abandoning it, but persisted and got Recluse last night after winning 8 of the last 10 matches. I used a mix of Jade Rabbit/Outbreak with Epicurean or Braytech Werewolf with Jotunn. Edit:sorry missed your edit. Congrats and good luck with Revoker.

  • Solo queue. Use a cheap loadout like bygones/erentil/truth. Took me about 4 hours this season in solo queue and I lost quite a few matches.

  • I went for as much intellect as possible. He who snipes controls the battle. I just got lucky with teammates

  • Depending on what console you’re on, I’m always down to try to help other guardians, I’m no pro, but I’d be more then willing to help!!

  • Best tip: Put the controller down, turn off the console, go outside and enjoy real life. If you want Fabled, you have to acquire the cheat codes to get there or pay for a carry/recovery. Trust me, walked away from this game and am much better off for it. Do I miss the game and playing with friends, yes, absolutely. But much happier without it.

    • Run what feels most comfortable and what you feel best with. Its better than using what someone says is good but you have no practice with. Stick with your blueberries if things head south. If you notice them poofing away lives stick with them. Either go 2v1 or even out a gunfight if they had 2 on him. Use one bang supers, not often I found myself getting much from my roaming supers, moved to quick burst (sharpshooter, blade barrage. Nova bomb, thundercrash, etc). Try to save for a shutdown, never go for less than a double if not shutting down unless its tie game and you need to live.

Pick the right time of day and go into survival solo que. I got fabled in about 5 hours. Couldn't lose a match. Played again at a different time of day and lost every match.

Your greatest weapon is patience. Whenever you die, try not to get angry, instead ask yourself “why did I die, and how do I prevent that next time?” Loadout is up to you, but I’d recommend picking a super/subclass to counter other supers since they’re more of a factor in survival. Go get that bread guardian!

    • Middle tree arc strider (super reflects some of the most used supers - blade barrage, Nova bomb, hammers; beats many supers straight up - spectral, golden gun, sentinel, etc) Stompees. Many lower skill players have a terrible time dealing with high mobility players. Being able to open an engagement with a slide or being so high in air you're off screen will win you a lot more gunfights than you'd think. Chaperone. This is going to take some work to get good with, but if you can break that skill ceiling you'll be cruising. Something mid to long range for your secondary. Think Luna or Kindled Orchid. Your bread and butter is gonna be chaperone, so this is just for winning mid range when you have to. Keep a Jade Rabbit on you at all times just in case. There are going to be those matches where the enemy is going to try to team up and close range murder you with shotguns. Many of those players don't adapt well. You can easily sit back and cap them (and flinch out snipers). A cold beverage. A lot of this is going to feel very rng. You'll have matches with potatoes on your team and you'll wonder what tf is going on. Keep cool. Keep hydrated. Questions?

Play the freelance playlist, you can carry solo if you have to provided players on the other team aren’t as good or are better skilled then you. Against stacked coms, it’s gonna be a long day. Basic comp strategy regardless of playlist is to always go for teamshots over 1v1’s.

    •
Because the ‘gang’ doesn’t wanna help anyone else but themselves or their friends’ friends.
Doesnt sound like you look very hard. I've helped 16 people get to Fabled in Seasons 5-8 for free. I have also seen many people volunteer to help people get to Fabled for free. Maybe join a PVP clan if you dont like LFG.

PLAY THE FREELANCE PLAYLIST. Standard comp playlist is unwinnable solo. If you are a titan, use middle tree striker, if you are a hunter, use blade barrage. Use the super of those classes to shut down other supers. If you are a warlock, use top tree stormcaller and throw storm nades or arcbolts into groups of enemies for easy multi kills. Use a high impact fusion (like Erentil) with backup plan, if you don’t have one, pull a Shock and Awe out of your collections. Run around with a primary, but switch to the fusion as soon as you see an enemy for the instant kill. Got plenty of hate mail, but this is how I made it to 5500. If your on PC, idk what to tell you cause it’s infested with hackers.

    • Go into private matches to learn names of map locations (name is on the left side of screen), good for callouts when you play in a team. That can help with map knowledge and then you can also practice jumps and how to travel around the map.    Playing in the mornings can be easier than in the evenings. My favorite is weekend mornings.   Using meta weapons and a strong offensive super definitely helps. Use what works, use want Bungie gives you that is strong and don't mind what people say about "cheap" weapons. Take what's yours!   If you cant find good people in LFG to play with, its probably because their skill level is better than yours (no offense meant), I also run into this issue. I have an approximate 1.2 KD and 1.7 KDA. I try to use solo matchmaking help me find friends. If you play some matches and you like one or two people you played with, send them a "GG" good game, and ask if they would like to party up and play together. Why I think this is a good idea, Bungie matched you up with them, they probably have a similar skill level and are in a similar spot in grinding glory.  Use bonus points to your advantage.  If you play 3 games a week, you can get a 120 glory bonus.  If you play all 12 weeks, that’s 1440 free points. You only need 660 points to get to fabled.    Practice in Rumble or QP new weapons and supers    Practice in Rumble your one on one skills. If you cant kill one person by yourself, it will be much harder for you to help out your team.   Probably common knowledge, If you are the only one with a super, that can be a great time to use yours. No one around to counter you easily with a super of their own. Also you start generating orbs for your team mates so they can get their supers going.    Watch Youtube strategy videos from Coolguy, True Vanguard, CammyCakes, Aztecross Gaming.  Some of these guys even have their own Discord channels where you can LFG with their fans.  I had good success with Coolguys.    Some videos to improve game play.    https://youtu.be/74e3mByi0d0    https://youtu.be/3lkQ5ovg4t4    https://youtu.be/IwjvqF1dh5o    https://youtu.be/hRrLSbizeKk  https://youtu.be/oEqrWYQMoAM    Super Mods, weapon scavenger perks, targeting Mods, Reload Mods, Dexterity and resilience Mods. On console, I use jumper controls. It allows me to punch and jump without having to take my thumb off of the look stick (practice new controls in pve, try doing a jumping punch (or shotgun) on someone's head). I also use an Elite controller, it allows me to put a button on the bottom of the controller so I can crouch or slide without taking my thumbs off the sticks. I recently started putting a button under the controller for the action button so I can shoot while I revive or disactivate a bomb and not be a sitting duck. The elite controller allows me to play other games and make the button layout identical to destiny so my buttons don't get mixed up in my head.

I used a pulse rifle, fusion rifle, and either a rocket launcher or the colony. Hit fabled with in the first three weeks this season. *I also did freelance survival.

      • Go freelance and play on Saturday mid morning or like Wednesday nights. Seemed to pair me mostly with people of similar skill not the sweaty tryhards. Use whatever guns get you the most kills... If you lose more than 3 or 4 games in a row take a break and try again later. I'm by no means "good" but I did get to fabled as a filthy casual.

Go to solo survival. I get fabled in a few matches whit Trust and a shotgun (for proximity kills). The most I play, most I gg. I used Trust because I wonder if some day I can get Luna's, so a tip is use a weapon that you feel confortable. Before use Trust my prefered weapon was Loaded question, it's a beast. You can use the tipically, jotun, Erentil... and you will have a lot of kills, sure. Play carefully, don't get angry, and if yopu loose 2-3 in a row, go away, drink something, take a walk, and later return.

      • Are you entering the Survival Freelance queue? That one removes all chances of running into stacks since everyone enters solo. That's how I went from zero to Legend and now sporting a new NF.
