So I play crucible a lot, I’ve always enjoyed Playing PvP and I have about 120k kills at the moment(not bragging just trying to say I know what I’m talking about), I’ve played Destiny 2 since launch and I’ve never seriously wanted to quit playing PvP or put down Destiny 2 until now, and the reasons are actually rather complicated. The problem isn’t that fusions are just incredibly overpowering and that everyone who plays PvP will use a fusion to win, but rather how much EFFORT and SKILL is put in to get a kill with a fusion. Oh what’s that you say? Because it has to charge the rifle it rewards good movement and a skilled hand? -No, most fusion users won’t touch the left stick since they don’t need to, why you ask? Because if you go against a fusion IN THE OPEN your more then likely to trade because you hit perfect Head shots with your primary for the most optimal ttk OR die to it because you either; 1)missed a shot 2)he had back up plan active 3) your primary won’t reach FUSION distance(how disgusting) 4)your primary is a primary and your not running a sniper rifle so your ttk with your primary even at doable range won’t kill fast enough (how insane) and the list could go on. I’ve never felt this pressured when I’ve engaged in a fight, yea snipers are scary and shotguns are crazy, i totally understand, but I have never seen ANY special weapon kill me this CONSISTENTLY, game after game, death after death, wether I’m running a max range shotty build with max mobility or playing a bit more passive and run snipe and hc/recluse, wether I’m going against a 5500 6 stack or a team of PvE guardians with 10k crucible kills IT DOESNT MATTER, by the time you hear the fusion START charging near me, I automatically assume that I am dead, how crazy is that Bungie? The only thing I could compare this is maybe a wardcliff coil? If I hear that next to me I usually assume I’m dead, just like a fusion. It’s bloody insanity and it’s been waaaaaaaay overdue for a nerf. So to sum it up, Fusions. 1) way too easy to use for something so rewarding - pre charging does not take skill, and you’re most likely to learn to tap the trigger at all times so that your fusion is already 1/3 charged before a gun fight which means you don’t have to be evasive because you have the TTK. 2) No outplay potential (at all) - if you’re wanting to outplay a fusion user you’ll need to use cover to time your peaks so that the fusion doesn’t hit you, but the problem with that is you’re obviously not going to always be near cover fighting someone, and to make matters worse fusion users know how to play it safe, at a safe distance where they can’t get shotgun’d OR BE outranged by other guns. They stand exactly in the right spot so they can kill anything that appears on their screen with minimum to no effort and aim required. Oh and I almost forgot if lag comes in to play (which it always will from time to time) cover isn’t an option for you anymore, thanks to aim assist and ‘superior internet connection’ the fusion user is now able to shoot you right through walls, and I don’t mean more fusion bolts are going to hit and only some are going to hit the wall, literally every bolt will go through the wall and hit you no matter what. It is downright not okay. I was going to keep listing more things but I’m just going to leave it here and hope to hear some others in the community feel the same way? And if not please tell me why you think so! I’d loved to discuss more about this issue. I really do not want to quit Destiny 2 lol.
Yes! I use them myself and I feel dirty every time. No one gun should be this rampant in crucible, d1 used to see so many different loadouts, d2, now, is just so predictable. I've got friends dropping it until it's fixed. I have never seen pvp this toxic
Edited by Laser Kittens: 11/13/2019 8:05:06 PM***EDIT*** As it turns out, it's a PC issue. If M&K users are willing to give up their lack of recoil, the problem would be solved. ***End Edit*** So I had been in the camp of "they're fine" until I watched some clips of some disgusting 1shots (full health) at unimaginable ranges. They don't need much of a change though. Could be one or more of the following: - An increase to recoil to help prevent all bolts landing at longer ranges. - An increase in Charge Time to punish a user relying on out TTKing their opponent instead of playing smart. - A tweak to Backup Plan: either reduced duration (only 1 burst), or reduced damage for the "backup shot(s)" - Make Fusions projectile weapons instead of Hit Scan. - An addition of damage dropoff to Fusion Bolts. I don't feel too strongly about them though it seems many just really don't like em, or being killed by them at least.
Just remove backup plan and curb their range significantly problem solved. A fusion user should not he able to confidently shoot at me and kill me at Scout/Sniper range.
