Antaeus wards a fun perk that doesn’t work

Antaeus wards is probably one of my favourite exotic on paper. However, when you are in the game it is awful. The registration of the reflection either doesn’t work or works yet you still take damage after you reflect. I don’t know if this is how it should be or if it’s bugged but can you make it clear wether you should take damage or not. The amount of times I have clearly reflected anything yet still died even after I can see the projectile going is uncountable. Please Bungie fix Antaeus wards.

  • It honestly feels like there are two types of damage that goes on in a battle, the damage the games registers as received on your end, and then damage that registers are dealt on the enemies end. Therefore making two types of damage registers, resulting in enemies dying late, or not dying at all even though you seemingly deal enough damage to kill. Same would go with the wards, your side registers as deflecting, while the enemies super or whatever they used to kill you, doesn’t register as being deflected.

    • They're fine. Your timing is just off. Once you start to master the timing they're one of the best exotics in the game.

          • I think its bugged. You can reflect the projectiles in a way that you shoot yourself off the reflect.

          • these things suck so bad I deflect shots back against knights and ogres and it did about 1% of the damage of one bullet. Yeah, not broken!!!

          • Bump These legs get me killed way too often whenever I have them equipped. It’s almost as if I’m nerfing myself when I wear these suicide boots.

          • They are very bugged. The game code will sometimes register bullets as ricocheting off the inside of your shield, and will deal 2-3x normal damage, resulting in a misadventure. Its super frustrating, but reflecting a Jotunn makes up for it!

          • Its really bugged. When it works is awesome but it doesnt work half the time. I dropped it after 20-30 matches.

            • The perk wasn't made to make you a god. As soon as you deflect the damage, that in game item becomes yours, and you take damage from your own attacks. When you deflect something, aim up higher than usual, and the blast won't be thrown in your face. Also, it reduces damage, but doesn't negate it. I've tested it with many, many things, and used them mostly during LoW meta, cause it would shut down someone with it. With supers: It can eat a tether, bounce back one set of blade barrage, i think bounce a nova. It can deflect a golden gun and one shot them, deflect a dawnblade and one shot them, Hammers can easily be deflected, but be careful of a sunspot, you take considerable damage from all of these (Or die). Fusions don't work because there is a small gap between you and the shield, so you can deflect one bolt, but the other eight just fly into you, behind the shield, especially if you're sliding at the enemy. Shotguns get deflected back at the enemy, and you lose about half health, a slideways shotgun pairs well with this exotic. Rockets, Gl's, and guardians grenades and throw able melees all readily deflect, just don't aim down or you take the damage anyway as it explodes at your feet. I've tested, and abused these for a long time now. They're a skill based exotic that are well balanced and would be hell if they were simplified. Practice more or put on another exotic.

                If you think Antaeus wards are bugged YOU ARE NOT USING THEM CORRECTLY. I can’t tell you how many times they have saved my ass but they do not make you immortal. The wards reflect SOME bullets and will reflect MOST of a super. There are a few things they can not deflect 1. Auto/pulse/smg fires too fast to effectively push with Antaeus. Do not expect to survive 2. Mountaintop AOE will probably always kill you due to the way single shot gls work. You can effectively block heavy gls 3. Nova bomb and Blade barrage will almost always trade with you. The aoe will kill you. Antaeus is extremely lethal in a good titans arsenal. They can be used to push snipers, live shotguns, and have the same Aggro power as the one eye mask. I predict that when one eye is nerfed, these forums will be up in arms about the power of Antaeus shouldercharge combo.

                • How about they change the exotic perk to make Titan Barriers reflect attacks? They can break after the same amount of damage.

                    I beg to differ my friend. All it takes is practice. I rarely get misadventures nowadays when I use them, and I have SO many more deflections I could post. It takes time to master them, but they work really well

                    • Just slide around all the time and youll generate super energy pretty effectively, then swap to a different exotic that helps your super once you get it.

                      • From personal exp with them the perk is fun and can shut down so many people (such as blade barrage spamming no skilled hunters) and yes it is a bit finicky to use BUT in defense for the kinda high skill cap for them they are kinda on the thin line of being over powered. I mean if antaeus wards was any easier to use or lasted even 1 second longer they would possibly be more OP than OEM cause you reflect EVERYTHING with them. From handcannon shots to rockets and grenades you can even reflect nova bombs and blade barrages. Like these greaves are on the border of being over powered and the high skill cap is the only thing stopping them from being over powered. Cause if you take the time to master these greaves you deserve the kills you get with the reflects.

                        • I think what happens is an explosive projectile can actually go UNDER the barrier dependent on the terrain. Ensure the shield extends lower on the z axis and most issues will be fixed.

                            • Yeah they're a fun idea but i see a very thin line between useless and stupidly OP. I'd say it's very hard to get middle ground on this perk.

                            • The more i use it the better it feels, reflected a blade barrage at a hunter, he had some salty things to say on psn. To be fair i was just as suprised as he was.
