Can we get rid or change the ridiculous stomp mechanics on (mini)bosses?

It's one thing to give bosses and minibosses a melee attack to fight Guardians that get too close. In fact, I'm all for that because there should be some risk with getting too close. But seriously, why does practically every boss and/or miniboss have some goddam sonic stomp that sends you flying several meters away? Even the Overlord Hydras on the Moon have some sort of electro-fart that sends you away, and they don't have legs! I'm assuming the point was to reduce the effectiveness of swords, shotguns, melee supers, etc, and I understand that they can be pretty strong if specced for it. However, the knockback is so reoccurring that it feels unrewarding, and often plain obnoxious, to use close ranged weapons/strategies because there is apparently a lack of efficient melee combat for large enemies. We already have a select few bosses that allow melee/close ranged engagement, and they're actually more engaging than most other enemies because there's more potential strategies to experiment with. Could we please have something done about this overused boss ability, either by changing current bosses, making new ones that are more efficient with melee combat, or something else? I'd just like to be able to diversify my loadouts more when fighting the big guys without them yeeting me against the wall or off a cliff just for using a close ranged weapon; that's what the Phalanxes are for.

  • I got stomped twice when there was no boss around. On the Moon strike Beyond I suddenly shot sideways off a bridge with only a red bar knight nearby. In The Sludge I was doing a public drill rig event up on the cliff. There were fallen around, but no boss. Suddenly I was thrown off the cliff so hard that I hit the wall at the other side of the valley! Or are some bosses invisible? Tell me they aren't!

    I got "stomped" by a Hydra so bad yesterday on the Moon.... I respawned on EARTH, in the EDZ....

  • Even just a cooldown would be nice. As it is they can just friggen spam it. At least with the sword if you time a swing right it can keep you from flying away but that only delays the inevitable, plus wastes “ammo” (ammo for swords is such a stupid concept...) It’s rather just see it go away altogether though, it’s just annoying as hell. WAY too many things use it WAY too often.

  • You mean you don't like getting sent into space when you jump over the bosses head and then they stomp sending you into orbit...Yeah, it sucks. It's needs to be a melee that knocks back the guy attacking in close, not everyone in a six mile radius of him.

    • Theres actually a new modifier that strengthens boss stomp. 😂 So many people complained about it when Reckoning was "the thing", so Bungie decided to double down.

        • Thus the reason why people camped in the back with snipers or scouts. But the weapons were considered too strong and that was the most used tactic in the game. If you're playing a hard activity where there's a boss surrounded by ads there is no way you can get up close and survive. When we played against crota in d1 nobody ran up to him with invectives to down him. If anyone did they died and might have been kicked from the fireteam.

        • Maybe just increase the fall off rate, or limit it to a power attach. Right now the boss can stop like every 2 seconds and there is no fall off. if you're like 1.5 meters away it's just as powerful as 0.5 M. Reduce the stop mechanic to about 15 seconds and add in a bit of drop off. The number of times I've been stomped killed for trying to run pass the boss to the other side of the map ...

            I wouldn't mine it as much if it wasn't a generic stomp for every boss. If an ogre backhanded me when i got too close and launched me away, i'd be fine with that, because i could get behind it and deal some damage before it turns and flings me across an arena.

            • But if you do that, Bungie would have to actually come up with something imaginative and interesting for them. Why do that when you can do the same thing on EVERY SINGLE BOSS AND MINI-BOSS IN THE GAME. It's so much cheaper/easier when you don't have to make any new code.

            • Be awesome if some boss can just pick you and toss you, kick you, swing at you, or hit you with their guns, if you get too close. This way you can’t just gang up on a boss with a sword.

              • The only thing I really hate about it is how you can be OHK'd by a wall Boss Stomps, Phalanx shields, random pebbles falling on your head sending you flying Its all the same to me

              • Just enjoy the ride, it's better than being squashed into the ground. They aren't changing it, pve would be a shotgun and sword mess.
