the option of matchmaking being on/off should always be an option for the player to have imo the main exception is probably raids since guided games pretty much failed in player interest with unknown wait times

Thats cuz its flawed by design. If it was true matchmaking it might've been better. But needing a clan too actually go as guides and people going as seekers never worked.
