Special Weapons Are Still Going to be Really Strong in the Crucible

So I hear the special ammo economy is getting nerfed in the Crucible. It sounds like a step in the right direction to me. Primary weapons might even become a big topic. But I doubt it's going to last. I think many players that are using the everyday special weapons in the Crucible are still going to be using them just as much as they've been. A Dust Rock Blues is still going to be one of the best shotguns in the game. Same thing goes for Erentil, Mountaintop, Revoker, etc. They're still going to be just as strong as they are right now. I'm worried that more players are going to switch to these weapons after the update later. With the desperate need for special ammo, what's the point in using anything other than the best weapons? I'm not sure how the ammo economy is changing exactly, but if players are still going to respawn with 2 special ammo shots, then this all-around change isn't going to be that big of a change at all. I think special weapons need another tuning. Not these particular weapons themselves, but the weapon archetypes. It's just too unbalanced. Have an adaptive fusion rifle fight a high-impact fusion rifle. The adaptive fusion isn't going to win because of the damage and accuracy. High-impact fusions are just too versatile over other types. What happened to adaptive fusions, by the way? The only Year 2 adaptive frame fusion rifle in the game is Techeun Force. It isn't even that good. It has poor accuracy and low ammo reserves (not the lowest). This got a little off-track though. My suggestions? - Increase the bolt spread of high-impact fusions as a counter to longer zoom scopes. Maybe the damage falloff can remain the same. - Reduce shotgun midair accuracy. This was a problem in Destiny 1 too. It got patched later. Perhaps making it where Icarus Grip mods can't be applied to them could work too. I'm just tired of getting jumped on by a Hunter. Slightly increasing the pelt spread of precision frame shotguns might make other shotguns more viable as well. Not saying other shotguns can't be really good with the right perks, but precision frame shotguns are really easy to get and, in my opinion, don't require a lot of effort to use. - Um, Revoker… I have a feeling that with the special ammo economy nerf coming, this gun is going to grow even more popular with its Reverse Fortune perk. This sniper might promote camping later, so maybe make it where if you miss a shot and you have no ammo left, the bullet doesn't come back. If we still spawn with 2 special ammo shots, the perk will still be potent in my opinion. This one is mainly just a prediction. These suggestions are just my opinions. You don't have to agree with me. Anyone else have any ideas? EDIT: I've only heard about a special ammo nerf in the Crucible from my friends. But if the scavenger perk changes impact special ammo in the Crucible the same way it was shown in Strikes, then that sounds like a nerf to me. It's the reason I made this post.

  • Just played against you in Comp on Xbox. GG btw. Honestly, it'll be way to exhausting constantly going against Special. Especially in a 3v3 scenario and 4 lives to go through. I've played Crucible since Shadowkeep launched and you really notice how broken Special Ammo and OEM is. My only problem with Revoker is it rewards bad players and the only counterplay is to snipe it out. You used to be able to listen for two shots and say "alright he's out of ammo, I can peak now" now you peak after two shots and it's "oh it's Revoker... Cool". It's one of the most irritating things about it. The only real thing I miss from D1 is how Special worked in Crucible. You didn't spawn with it for cheap kills, you had to go earn it. That and Heavy Ammo NOT spawning every round... One can dream.
