I think there is something going on in the background with precision damage. I consistently have issues with outlaw procing on my redrix. I can tell I got a precision kill as it does the animation on the enemy I killed (such as cabal helmets poping off) yet outlaw won't register the precision kill. Or I will start a reload expecting it to be quick as outlaw should have been activated, but there will be a delay and outlaw will show up on the left of my screen halfway through the reload animation. Thankfully desperado will still kick in after the reload, I just have to suffer through that slow reload animation. I have also found there to be times (mostly when I'm using hand canons) that I will kill an enemy with a precision kill (again based on the precision kill animation of the enemy) but the damage numbers that pop up are not displayed as a Crit and it will just show as normal damage.

Do you hip-fire a lot? I’ve noticed the game has a serious issue with counting hip-fire precision kills as actual precision kills. It can say you landed the crit and show the proper animation, but it won’t activate Outlaw or any of those other perks.

  • No this has purely been when ADS for me. Oddly enough I have never had a problem with it registering on a hip fire precision kill.

  • Interesting, I did not know this: I do use hip fire with precision weapons on some guns, although not usually on ones that have Dragonfly so hard to tell in the heat of combat if I hit my crits or not.

It’s still a bit finicky about registering precision shots even when you ADS, but it’s definitely worse when you hip-fire. I usually hip-fire when I play without a HUD, and it seems like 80% of the time it doesn’t trigger Outlaw or Dragonfly on headshots. Not really sure what they can do about it though, lol.
