Unfair ban

I have been a loyal player of destiny since its beta release of destiny 1 I have been a loyal fan of bungie since the release of halo but never have i EVER been banned with no reason, and for the reason i suspect being that i have a 3rd part debbugging program i use for video editing and game debugging software for making mods I.E skyrim, i have been banned And from what i can see there is no way of disputing or contacting bungie over it, ive read the ban policy thoroughly now and whilst i say "right on" to banning anyone trying to cheat, this is far from it, ive never been banned from any online game for having this run in the background bungie please speak to me about this, with shadowkeep on its way i refuse to let this go, seeing as ive poured alot of my time into this game

  • Your account was banned on Sep 13th when the Destiny 2 process, while running, was directly accessed by a program capable of - and designed for - reading and modifying game memory in real-time. Your ban has been reviewed and upheld. For additional details on behaviors that can lead to account bans, please visit https://www.bungie.net/bans

  • Whilst i agree with most everyone here about your predicament, theres no way to prove that you werent the one who made the interactions between the program and destiny, it is known however that some of these programs will interact in some manner without the user prompt I.e initially when the program asks for windows permission to do something (again not that that matters). I use cheat engine for borderlands 1 and 2 for example, it makes for some pretty fun scenarios, for instance, you can change difficulty scaling, removes or add item pools from the game to make it harder or easier, it changes the games dynamic and makes for some very fun play time after youve done everything and finished it for the 10000th time. I'm lucky i saw posts on this well before your post my friend so I'm lucky that I've made sure my program wont be making any sort of interaction when i switch over to pc. so your experiance as horrible as it is will hopefully reach those that do use any sort of debugging or editing software and hopefully warn them about it. This would be aspecially unfortunate for the people who arent aware of such an interaction or who arent as proficient with programming to know it would come the 3rd party application part of the ban policy, I personally think there should be a process in which a team at bungie should dedicate some time to making sure that these people who are being banned are being done so with proper care and attention. based on what ive read from all these replies there hasnt been much compassion shown to this person at all, bungie's stance on cheaters as just as it is, needs some reviewing. hopefully my post is met with constrictive criticism or at the very least no negative backlash, after reading alot of the replies in alot of the threads the community here doesnt seem to be a very nurturing place goood luck to you my dude, hopeful bungie didnt just slam the ban hammer without reading their logs properly

Bans, Restrictions and Suspensions. LEARN THE DIFFERENCE. BANS are permanent and apply to the whole game. The message usually says: "NOT SO FAST! This account has been banned." And looks like this http://imgur.com/gallery/Tw7g7Jg RESTRICTIONS are temporary. The message usually says: "RESTRICTED! This account is temporarily restricted from _______." And looks like this http://imgur.com/gallery/st40PuU If it is your 1st RESTRICTION it's USUALLY 2 weeks. If it is your 2nd RESTRICTION it's USUALLY 2 months. RESTRICTIONS can stack on each other, usually due to the severity and frequency of multiple reports overtime. So 2 weeks AND 2 months, so to most players there won't be a 2nd splash screen and the RESTRICTION ends later than expected. RESTRICTIONS USUALLY end during the reset of that week and not the day of. If you have had 2 prior RESTRICTIONS a 3rd penalty can either be a much longer RESTRICTION or a lifetime RESTRICTION from Crucible and Gambit or a full on lifetime BAN from the entire game. Sometimes you will be given a splash screen that looks like this http://imgur.com/gallery/GpYKBGG warning you of an issue so you can fix it before a restriction is placed. In-Game Gambit/Competitive Crucible SUSPENSIONS are only 30-60mins and placed AUTOMATICALLY if you leave too many games in a short time span for ANY reason. Whether it be a ddos, error code or power outage. The message usually says: "TIME OUT! You left a ______ match before it was complete…." And looks like this for Competitive and Gambit http://imgur.com/gallery/stqxYIj They WILL NOT respond or message you. They WILL NOT tell why a punishment was issued. EDIT: [Recently (as of June 28/2019) SOMETIMES BNGSecurity will give a general reason why the punishment was placed. They look like this http://imgur.com/gallery/eSY1iGc] They don't have to. They don't care. Loyalty. Time played. Content purchased. Gear earned. When you started. Intent. Threats. Begging. It is all irrelevant. They make the rules. We have to follow them. Break them and they penalize you. There is NO course of action to appeal any punishment issued. They WILL NOT lessen or remove any punishment issued for any reason. They've had this no tolerance policy since Day 1 of D1. It won't change anytime soon. The reasons most ppl have a punishment issued to them is: For some form of cheating (ddossing, afk farming). Playing with cheaters (paying for a carry, sharing account info, or staying in a lobby with a cheater for too long and benefiting from their illegal actions). Or having consistently terrible internet connection that it affects OTHERS players and not just yourself. You may be playing fine. But to others you may appear as an unkillable red-bar. For most PC tagalongs: They are banned because SOMETHING installed on your PC was viewed as a POTENTIAL threat to D2 and those are PROMPTLY BANNED. The process for BANS and RESTRICTIONS involve reports coming in from players or their flag system towards an individual. The Bungie monkey at HQ reviews it. And they decide if it was warranted or not.
• Bungie generally doesn’t ban for just having it running in background. However, it sounds like it actually tried to interact with the D2 game files (either intentionally or unintentionally). Unfortunately, you’re correct that there is no way to appeal and/or overturn a ban.

Bungie Security only bans users after reviewing logs. Usually they say: the evidence has been reviewed and the ban has been upheld or something.

        •
and game debugging software for making mods I.E skyrim, i have been banned
problem is there is no way to convince anyone that the 'game debugging' software wasn't open for the purpose of interacting with the d2 processes. sorry dude, being on pc you should know you are responsible for the programs you have open when the game is running.

          • Bungie should have had their D2 PC client warn the user about potential issues with other processes running in the background so end users would at least have some warning and a chance to turn off said problematic processes, rather than basically planting a spy inside your machine that informs on you to Bungie, even with apps that have absolutely nothing to do with cheating, and then Bungie banning people for a false positive. It's 2019, and if Bungie can't sort their false positives for cheating on PC, they should never have released the game on PC to begin with.

            • Bongo should at the very least release a comprehensive list of software known to trigger false positives if their policy is to religiously trust and enforce their automated anti cheat measures. So many innocent or unrelated things could inadvertently trip the anti cheat detection, while some of them are known and whitelisted (discord or rivatuner trying to hook for their overlays etc.), there are certainly so many that aren't. Heck, didn't even shadowplay trigger false positives on pc launch?

                • Bungie has stated multiple times that if you have a program running that does interact with a game, ie debuggers or cheat engines, even if it’s not directly interfacing with D2. Then the anti cheat is to going to flag the account, always make sure that you turn off anything that could interact with any game. Also you state that you read the ban policy in-depth, so you know that Bungie doesn’t overturn bans even if it was an accident. At the end of the day it’s tuff luck and your fault for having a debugger open while D2 was playing.

                • Also, Bungie really need some codified justice system including an appeals process. It's unconscionable in this day and age that a game on which so much money has been spent/wasted, that has charged customers, end users so much for the base game and all its DLC, to have no proper, robust legal system with checks and balances including an appeals process. I'm guessing that $500 million over 10 years that Bungie took from Activision, very little of it was earmarked for catching cheaters, or providing basic customer service, or indeed, having an appeals process for unfair bans. It makes me wonder where all that money went, because it sure didn't go into making the game any better or the end user's gaming experience any better. /and makes zero sense to invest zero cents into dedicated servers

                  • Next time make sure the debugger is closed in Task Manager before launching D2. Better yet, keep Destiny 2 on another PC that is free from all debuggers.

                  • No such things as unfair bans. Bungie detected something in your PC running that could have been a cheat. Or you got banned for having really bad connection over time.

                  • Regardless im not gonna take this lying down, ive been a loyal member of this community for over half my life and i wont see it all thrown away because of some 1 rule for all attitude, i refuse to accept that my account has been banned without speaking to anyone for something that is given more attention than people actually manipulating the network in cruicible, theres even videos of well known destiny players using network manipulation to affect mechanics in raids during their streams, Theres people streaming on twitch showing themselves promoting network manipulation and assisting people on getting to legend without any hard work.... all this is going on visibly and infront of bungies eyes but they see fit to ban me for something like this

                      • It is clearly written in the terms of service agreement you have to agree to before you every are allowed to play. Third party programs are not allowed unless approved by Bungie.

                      • Being banned for any reason will mean you are SoL. Expect the worse: as in no communication, no appeal process, no...anything, regardless of how often you post, regardless of how often you try to rationalize. Period. But also, hope for the best: Hope that a Mentor or Ninja can at least give some different information that is helpful, or that a Bungie account does respond with a means to (unlikely) look into this. That's all you can do.
