Restrictions are placed manually on accounts that are deemed to be repeatedly ruining game experiences for others in PVP, or gambit. Restrictions will not be overturned until their duration has passed. Use this time to stabilise and improve your network connection so that you stop harming games for other players. The first restriction will last two weeks. If you do not fix your connection, the next will be two months. If you still persist in ruining the game for others, you will be permanently banned from PVP in Destiny 2. Please be considerate of others and work on fixing your connection, to avoid further repercussions. You say you’ve fixed it but clearly YOU HAVEN’T done so effectively. 3.8mbps is on the low end for being within limitations. If any other devices on your network were to try and connect it’s unlikely that it would keep above the 1mbps that the game uses.

  • Bungie recommends 1 Mbps U/D available, but the game doesn’t necessarily use that. I’ve run a network monitor going back years since D1, and never seen D1 or D2 demand more than 1/2 Mbps U/D. That said, I wouldn’t advise streaming over twitch on 3.8 Mbps while also playing.

In pvp, I personally have clocked it at .775-1M at my router. As with most things, Your Mileage May Vary, but I think the 1M is a pretty safe bet. Streaming with that 3-4M upload is a bad idea, I think twitch defaults to 2M uploads.

  • I’ve seen occasional spikes over half of a megabit per second during matchmaking. I’m not telling anyone to play on less than 1 Mbps per second upload, I’m telling them they should be fine with that, not that “you only have four times that you need more” which seems to be the trend lately.

  • I usually recommend 2M tested, just to allow room for spikes, dips and other devices. Destiny using up to 1M does not leave much room for others. I used to have 2M and I would lag out of pretty much everything when my wife's iphone connected to the home network and started syncing photos and such, so even at 2M it can stil cause issues, in the right (or wrong) situations.

  • I’ll advise someone not to use other applications or stream if they’re close to the minimum, but I’m not gonna tell them they don’t have enough, just that they need to be smart about how they use it. Of course, if they don’t have one megabit per second, I’ll tell them they need more. I rarely see any advice that goes beyond “get better Internet”, and that’s the kind of stuff that annoys me. Especially when the guy’s tested results are well above the 1 Mbps requirement.

  • If they are at 1M I will tell them the truth, that D2 can and in some cases use all of that... so they would need to make sure everything and everyone is off of the net during play time. If they are above 2M then Speeds are not likely the issue, it would be more of a stability issue.

  • My knowledge is that Destiny USES 1MBPS at all times, and I fully trust the correctness of the individuals I learned that from. You may have different results; but as far as I’m concerned that’s what it needs and that’s what it uses.

  • Required or recommended, always uses or not, OP has more than enough upload bandwidth to play, 3.8 > 1 I am seeing a trend in #help of not just bad information, but hostile replies that seek not to help whatsoever, but to place blame. That’s not very helpful.

  • But it is, in fact, a fact that a network that is just barely over the requirement (which 3.8mbps is) leaves pretty much no room for other devices to use the network at the same time, is prone to drops that dip below what is required, and typically (I find) have additional problems alongside them! My point is that, sure, he meets the requirements... some of the time. His restriction is proof of that; people are having problems with his network and connection logs agree with them. Call it hostile if you will. It isn’t, I fail to see how it can be mistaken for it, and it isn’t the intention. The people who come asking about their restrictions are always - I must emphasise, ALWAYS - the ones who refuse to do anything about their network, refuse to bother reading the information they’re given by the splash screen, or don’t understand how networking works (which is the vast minority). As a result; you have to be cold - otherwise they will simply ignore you, and continue to scream like a spoiled toddler when they don’t get to lag their way to victory in PvP. Some of them still don’t listen; and they get what they deserve as a result. I don’t mean to be hostile, I’m not trying to be, and I’ll even maintain that I’m not. Cold? Yes. Maybe harsh? Absolutely. I’m not being hostile at all. Though if I was to be, I do not condone it; considering some of the people I have tried to help on these forums.
