One one hand, having someone else use your account to do better than you would is like sending someone else in to take a test for you. But on the other hand this is an entertainment product and not physician boards. If I was an ace and my RL friends said "hey, you're really good can you get the recluse for me." I'd do it, I think a lot of other people would too. But that would be it, a few extra go arounds. The recoveries who live in comp are making things artificially difficult for the people who are legit trying.

  • When you put it that way it is kinda like in the old days when you would give your friend the controller to get you through an hard level.

  • I've never paid for anyone to get me anything in Destiny. Thus, there is a lot of stuff I do not own, like the pvp pinnacle weapons. But if i have a plumbing issue at my house, and i don't know crap about plumbing, i call a plumber, and pay him. That does not make me less of a person, I think. If you want to pay someone for a service, why not?

  • The difference is that it turns the entire PvP system into a pay-to-win game, and ruins whatever modicum of 'matchmaking' D2 actually has, since the matchmaking is based on that newbie recovery account's PvP stats are, which means if that person hands their account/controller to a better, more experienced player, it means the match is now suddenly way more difficult for the opposing team because the teams are not balanced properly with people of roughly equal or equivalent skill fighting each other. Sure, when it's a single player campaign level that you can't get past for whatever reason, feel free to get a friend to do it for you if you like. I don't even necessarily have a problem with carries (although I frown on paid carries for the same reason as above: it leads to pay-to-win situations and hiring ringers), so long as the carry is done by the experienced player using their own main account, so there is at least one person on the opposing team who is of at least equal/equivalent skill as the person doing the carrying. But account recoveries or even handing your controller to your MLG friend, screws up the PvP matchmaking system and ultimately ruins the competition aspect of PvP completely.

  • I had not thought about the opossing team and the effect on them. Well explained, and you are right. Cheers.
