Hold my beer. Let’s take a look at Warlocks shall we.
Skull of Dire Ahamkhara: got nerfed too hard. Needs the Tether treatment. Crown of Tempests: God tier add clear. Highest add clear super in game. Tether doesn’t count because it’s not a roaming Super, it doesn’t flat out kill enemies, and it requires Orpheus to Tether repeatedly, which has been nerfed twice. Eye of Another World: just flat out reduces all cooldowns. Going to get better with Shadowkeep and return of Intellect Discipline and Strength. Going to refer to these as “stats” from now on. Nezarecs Sin: absolutely godly if you know what you’re doing with it. Recluse with this thing is a monstrous combination. Just got a Gnawing Hunger with Demolitionist which means I’m practically shitting Grenades. The Stag: carried me through Vorgeth encounter of Solo Shattered Throne. Will be good in 3v3 elim. Verity’s Brow: Another god tier helmet. Focuses on Grenades rather than everything like Nezarecs, with Top Tree Nova Bomb’s Overcharged Grenades and a set of Armament mods? Heavy EVERYWHERE. Apotheosis Veil: ew. Astrocyte Verse: Top Tier PvP Exotic. Almost TOO good, makes Blink feel terrible when you take it off. Sunbracers: infinite Solar Grenades for a short duration. Would be god tier if the melee proc worked properly, but it needs fixing. Karnsteins: basically Devour on any Subclass. Like bruh. Winters Guile: needs a buff. Aeon Soul: all the Aeon gauntlets need a buff. Souls aren’t special. Ophidian Aspect: faster reload, ready speed, and melee range. Like come on. Claws of Ahamkhara: will be better when stats are realeased in Shadowkeep. Contraverse Hold: Handheld Supernova’s best friend. Getaway Artist: will be better when stats come out. Still good now, especially with a Demolitionist weapon. The grenade eat animation needs to be faster, it’s annoying to reactivate every 20 seconds when it’s that slow. Starfire Protocol: Two Grenade Charges means double healing Grenades for middle tree DB. Wings of Sacred Dawn: will probably be more useful when Scouts get buffed. Vesper of Radius: the main focus of the exotic is Rift energy. The Arc shockwave is secondary, same thing with Khepris Horn. However a buff to those secondary abilities would go a long way. Chromatic Fire: not bad, but not the best either. Was highly disappointed to find out that killing enemies with the AOE while using Lumina didn’t generate additional Remnants. Phoenix Protocol: put a Well down and start 30 seconds of invincible rootin tootin bad guy shooting, Get a high score and you get a free play again. Sanguine Alchemy: ew. Transversive Steps: Warlock version of Stompeez and Antaeus Wards. Reloads your weapon on the go. Nuff said. Lunafactions: literally Raid meta and still will Be after nerf. Geomags: UNLIMITED POWER. Triple Geomag can kill a Primeval at Slayer x1. Basically we’ve got 10 Exotics that are absolute god tier in their respective aspects of the game. Crown, Nezarecs, Verity’s, Astrocyte, Karnstein, Ophidian, Phoenix, Transversive, Lunafactions, and Geomags. Claws, Getaway, Eye of another World, Contraverse Hold, and Starfire will get better when Stats come back so you can allocate stats to reduce cooldowns for those specific things you want. Stag: the rift that drops under your ghost when you die should stay until you revive. Skull: needs to give at least SOME Super energy. Apotheosis: needs a rework. Sunbracers: need to activate properly. Burn DOT should count as a Solar Melee Kill. Winters Guile: Warlock melee is too slow, and Guile needs a longer timer. Aeon Soul: all Aeon gauntlets need a buff. Vesper of Radius: the Arc Shockwave should be a lot bigger. Sanguine Alchemy: effect should remain for a time after leaving the rift. Similar to Weapons of Light on Bubble. So 90% is a MASSIVE exaggeration. Of course there’s Exotics that need buffing, but that’s the case with EVERY CLASS. I could go into detail about Hunters and Titans Exotics that are in the same boat but my thumbs are tired and this has become a wall of text.
So yeah.

In crucible there is a reason they are the least used class. Jump is floaty (even though the other two Jumps) are largely not used. Only burst glide sees regular use. Most warlock exotics are just ok. Steps, aspects and sometimes the sins of limiting a void set up. I mainly run the sins until I build the storm super and switch to the crown. Warlock exotics DO need a major rework in the crucible.

  • I cant believe you actually think verity and eye of another world are actually viable, if you actually bothered to use them you would realize just how bad those exotics are. Just because it sounds good on paper doesn’t mean its good

Step into Gambit with me bud. I’ll always have Heavy ammo. Verity’s Brow can give you a 20 second Grenade cooldown. Throw on a couple of Armament mods and you have unlimited heavy. I’ve basically soloed Primevals with Thunderlord and still had ammo left to invade. You’re focusing on the exotic alone and not considering what ELSE you can do with it. Synergy is part of any MMO. Edit: Feel free to inspect my Warlock, I’ve got Verity’s equipped at the moment. Take a good look at the rest of my loadout too, from the mods on my armor (armaments and ordinance) to the perks (enhanced impact induction) and my Weapons (Recluse, the best f*cking energy primary)

  • The OP was talking about currently: Skull of Dire Ahamkhara: Sucks Crown of Tempests: Good at PVE add clearing. PVP not so much Eye of Another World: Sucks The Stag: meh Apotheosis Veil: Been useless since D1 Astrocyte Verse: Top Tier PvP Exotic. Freaking awesome. About time Warlocks got some movement back in PVP Sunbracers: Has potential nades need to stack. Not worth the exotic slot currently Karnsteins: suck in PVP.....warlock melee is too slow Winters Guile: suck...see Karnsteins Aeon Soul: Totally useless since day 1 Ophidian Aspect: pretty good but melee range increase is over rated because warlock melee is too slow. Claws of Ahamkhara: suck. melee is too slow Contraverse Hold: pretty good but not great Getaway Artist: Neat idea but sucks in PVP Starfire Protocol: only good in a well Wings of Sacred Dawn: Totally suck in PVP. You're a sitting duck in the air Vesper of Radius: Kind of on in PVE....sucks in PVP Chromatic Fire: Cool in PVE. Sucks in PVP Phoenix Protocol: Still really good Sanguine Alchemy: USELESS!!!!! Transversive Steps: Not even close to Stompees. Not as good as Astrocyte. Its ok Lunafactions: Really good Geomags: By far the best PVE exotic for a Warlock not playing a support role. God Slayer! Nezarec's Sin: If...and that is a big if.....if your a PVE guy and you have Recluse than its awesome. If not it just ok at best. Most PVE types don't have PVP pinnacles making any exotic much less usefull. I have recluse so I get what your saying but most out there don't.

  •
Crown of Tempests: Good at PVE add clearing. PVP not so much
What the heck are you smoking? In PvP it extends stormtrance, its THE exotic warlocks use when running either of the two subclasses. Your nuts.

I mean you can make do just as well with a Gnawing Hunger or Kindled Orchid or Hero’s Burden. Recluse is beefy, but other weapons still work well enough with Nezarecs. Exotics aren’t always meant to work for both PvP and PvE. They usually lean into one role or the other. And Transversive Steps are incredible. They’re like Stompies except they reload for you. Vital to run and gun shotties.

I think Stag is pretty underrated as it's very good on survivability if you're constantly getting hit and can find that second to drop healing. It got me through Vorgeth too. Sunbreakers needs to stack damage per grenade again too or have some sort of increase at the very least, it takes its single target power away Apotheosis is also a bit underrated, if only it's instant health actually saved your life mid cast, been my Transendance alternative for Nova Warp The Aeons need more range and give their full effect regardless of that person wearing it, its synergy still depends on others using it, but for it to even be helpful to others, it should just give full power.

Two particular buffs I’d like to see are that the Stag leaves a PERMANENT healing rift under your Ghost when you’re dead that disappears when you are revived. It would act as a draw to get Blueberries to revive you, and in something like 3v3 Elim that’s coming back it would be beneficial to a team to keep them alive after death (Deerly Departed) and to help them get your Rez. And the other one I’d like to see is a complete overhaul to the Aeons. Make them work like the old Memory of Skorri, where if you have your Super charged then anyone in close proximity to you gains increased Super regen Speed. This would work more aggressively for other Aeons, as well as maybe giving Melee and Grenade energy since it’s an Exotic instead of just an Artifact. I don’t like Apotheosis just because I’m not one for hitting the panic super. I can definitely see it’s utility in those “oh shit” scenarios, but it just feels like there’s better Exotics tbh. Sunbracers should stack damage up to 2. The real issue is as I said, the Exotic doesn’t activate when enemies die to the Burn DOT, just the initial impact. Which since a Burn DOT Melee has less initial impact than a regular melee, it screws with your head trying to remember to shoot something BEFORE you melee it.

  • I think less on panicking and more on restoring what is lost when closing the gap for engagement

  • That’s fair. It’s just to me if I’m running PvP I’ve got things for more static buffs as opposed to situational. Transversives, Contraverse Hold, Astrocyte Verse (still don’t have :’) The more I find myself using it the better I like it. As opposed to something I might see the effects of twice a match, yknow?

  • There are a few things I disagree with on this list, but none more than you saying wings of sacred dawn could be better when scouts are buffed. Scouts are the worst weapons for in air shooting, cause they have horrible accuracy with the in aie nerf. The only perk warlocks get to turn off their in-air accuracy penalty is top tree’s melee effect
