Another very interesting and also pretty scary SCP that isn’t a butt nor ghost. The basic summary of SCP 2718 is that once you die, you remain conscious yet immobile and feel everything (If you’ve ever seen law abiding citizen; when Darby is paralyzed by the pufferfish venom but the rest of his nerves are intact, it’s pretty much that). The story goes like this: The transcript begins with O5-7, Miriam Prayther, stating that the Overseers frequently artificially extend their life, having used 19 known methods to do so. The only exception to this was Roger Sheldon, who refused all of the processes and took frequent unannounced vacations, of which both actions are now completely forbidden. On one of these vacations, 18 years ago, Roger dies from a stroke and is left to rot. His body is eventually recovered but it’s more or less just bones. When he is revived using extensive means by the council, he instantly runs into SCP 106 (The old man who corrodes almost everything) attempting to cut a deal with him in his pocket dimension. He is then detained and finally reveals why he acted so fast. Roger was conscious after he died and was fully aware of the world around him. He could feel himself decay and be eaten alive. He felt like his breath was being held for 18 whole years. Once the council hears about this testimony they freak out and order amnestics to be given to everyone in the council. The reason why is because belief in SCP 2718 is what creates the effect. Roger suffered it randomly but it spreads by belief in it by other people. So if the O5 was to hear about this from roger, should they die SCP 2718 would take control and keep them conscious. Roger then runs after the O5 decides to kill him and SCP 106 breaks containment. Rogers fate is unknown but it’s suspected he’s in the pocket dimension 106 can create to avoid his fate. Like before threads, this is vastly oversimplified and I implore you to read it.
