Let me tell you a story..pt. 3

Charlie looked inquisitively at Chuck. Three words can stop a man in his tracks, but she never anticipated five would have any effect on him. As she waited for him to answer, she took inventory of his person. Jeans, faded in spots, but still robustly blue. A small hole (most likely from wear and tear) was on one knee. His shoes were black, non-descript. something usually found on people who are not struggling with money, but are not in excess. His shirt, brown with three-quarter length sleeves fit well on his slight frame. The skin on his arms was pale and veiny. His face was well-formed, but not attention-grabbing. In short. He was easily lost in crowds. Chuck's most profound feature was his stare. It was intense, hungry and hypnotic. The icy blue eyes administering the piercing blow burned with the fire of a who was a man determined, but not desperate. His mouth opened, he started to say something, then his gaze shifted downward. His eyes bounced upward with a start and he turned around. "Charlie," he started "could you put on some clothes." "No." "Why?" he asked. "What is wrong?" "You're naked." "Obviously," she responded dryly, "but I want to know why you are here." "I can't tell you. put on some clothes and follow me outside." "Ok," she responded cheerfully. "I'll do just that. Want some coffee while you wait?" Charlie hopped off the slab and walked to the edge of the room. On a table next to the door, she set up the coffee machine. "Wait here for me, will you?" "Sure," muttered Chuck. Chuck walked over to the table, picked up a cup, then poured the fluid. His mind wandered with the smell of the coffee. He knew why Charlie was making coffee for him. He knew why she only dressed when he asked her too. He knew. He did not understand why though. He only came around when he needed something. Charlie, way too nice to sit idly-by waiting on his beck and call. She was the only host who disposed of her time in that fashion. Charlie returned and asked him if he was ready to go. with a quick nod of affirmation, Chuck put on his sunglasses and stepped out the door. [quote]© 2019 John "HoTh" McWaters.
