Warlock Holmes begins to walk through the ice and the cold towards the temple his coat waving rapidly and dramatically in the chilling wind. In one hand he held a book and a pen and the other he used to block his face with. Although he wants to hurry he keeps his senses and perception alert at all time for any detail although that being hard in the strong storm.
“This storm is almost as worse as those battle seagulls. At least it is kind of cool where they live”
can I use dice for this?
You may! You begin making your way towards the source of the bells. The storm reduces your visibility to a few feet ahead of you. Through the wind you hear cries for help!
-
I am going to cautiously approach the sounds of the cry’s. Making sure I don’t trip and trying to get a closer look at the scene so I can assess it before running in.
-
Before you seems to be a crowd of civilians being attacked by others!
-
Others? As in other people or other creatures? Let’s get a better look while preparing fire bolt.
-
On closer inspection, the attackers seem to be human, but their bodies are twisted in places to form weapons of flesh and bone! You recognize some of their faces to be the same as their victims!
-
You know what screw patient observation. It’s cold and people are in danger. *i cast a fire bolt at on of the other creatures*
roll and add modifiers. 16!
-
It hits and the Doppleganger bursts into flames! It screams as it runs off, vanishing into the storm! The others turn to you and charge!
-
Since I am unable to see that far due to the snow and they are all charging at me I will quickly cast scorching Ray and throw three rays of fire at three of the creatures.
17, 13, and 12
-
The first is incinerated while the second and third miss! They close the distance and slash at you with their boney arm blades!
14 and 6!
-
I nimbly dodge one of the attacks but the other strikes me in the side. Quickly I chant the words for a spell and with roaring thunder I vanish about 15 feet into the storm as I cast thunderstep!
everyone said this spell wouldn’t do much but it will work! It’s from -blam!- guide I should have cast spells for protection before the battle.
-
The Dopplegangers are zapped and fall to the ground, unmoving! The survivors seem to have used your distraction to escape!
-
*i am going to walk to the corpses of the creatures and investigate them. Also you going to cast detect magic*
-
They are not magical! Their bodies seem to be melting into piles of flesh and bone...
-
*i am going to keep walking towards the bells slowly and cautiously while casting defensive spells. Starting with mage armor and if I have time than mirror image*
-
You push onward. After a few minutes of walking you see a light ahead of you...
-
I will slowly approach it. Trying to learn as much as i can about this light before proceeding
-
As you approach, the ground beneath your feet changes from crunching snow to slogging water... Looking down you see that it is thick and inky. Suddenly, a milky white tentacle slithers up your leg!

Edited by Warlock Holmes: 9/3/2019 9:49:08 PM“By the grasping army’s of Hadar not the milky white tentacles!” The wizard exclaims while searching through his spellbook. And try’s casting misty step”
i assume I cannot see that far so I don’t think I will be able to teleport that far. I want to save my high level spell slots. I am usually careful about those
