Is Bungie Using The FOMO Tactic?

With the recent ambiguous reveal that Bungie will be apparently taking away some amount of seasonal content after each respective season ends, it sure seems to have the remnants of a FOMO (fear of missing out) tactic. I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that they wouldn’t do something so underhanded and shady, but man...I can’t help but wonder if this is truly beneath them or if the greedier heads at the corporate table are focusing on profits now more than ever since the Activision split. Hopefully it’s the former, not the latter. Sure, they’re a business and need to make money, but to pressure gamers, specifically their unbelievably loyal fan base who’ve stuck with them through thick and thin, into purchasing seasons to experience the “cool new thing”, only to then take it away while the next cool new things come out in the following season, would be pretty shitty. Either way. They need to get out in front of this. And I mean ASAP. Regardless the outcome. We need to know what, exactly, we are getting with the season. And more importantly, what EXACTLY we will be losing after the season ends. Before it drops, so as to make an informed decision. They’ve said that some armors and weapons which might be removed after a season ends would be brought back as rewards for a different loot pool in a different season. Then....why remove them at all? Why would we rush to purchase the new content if it’ll come back at least in some form, at a later time? It’s a very strange approach to be taking. To be fair, I completely understand that they can’t expand indefinitely forever and just keep adding content, and I have no problem with trimming the fat of underperforming content (Mercury as a whole). Although never again will I preorder an “annual pass” from them and find out what I bought after the fact, only to be extremely disappointed...(I’m lookin at you, Curse of Osiris.)
