You say you don't like the argument that if you don't do the raids then you don't need to be above 950, but then do nothing to explain why it's a bad argument. It doesn't matter whether or not D2 raids are worse than D1 raids (I mean, come on, you're gonna tell me Crota's End was a better designed raid than Last Wish?). The argument still remains true. You don't need to be endgame level if you're not doing endgame activities. Nothing about it is "sweaty, unless that term is synonymous with "logical".

It's about, as a game that requires people to buy and play it, I would think that making more things accessible to more people would mean more sales; but I wasn't a business major so what do I know?

 • Destiny has always been this way, I don't know what to tell you. Since vanilla D1, raids have usually had the best content. That is how this genre of video games is made. You know, the biggest and hardest content will have the best rewards. That is the whole ideology behind looter shooters. You think Destiny is bad about it, you should try World of Warcraft. And as it stands right now, these activities are significantly more available than ever. Getting to the appropriate level is ridiculously easy and will become even easier with the new artifact system. Bungie will get a huge jump in player count with New Light anyways. I'm sorry to say that I don't understand your argument at all.

 •
raids have usually had the best content.
Right. I didn't say anywhere in my post "I don't want to raid." I said that "D1 raids were better."; because of replayability. I didn't do the raids because I wanted a number, I didn't do them after I hit 30 because I was chasing anything, I did them because they were fun. The content was fun, not the level number I got.
And as it stands right now, these activities are significantly more available than ever.
Doesn't mean they're fun or accessible for most players.
Bungie will get a huge jump in player count with New Light anyways.
This is a fallacy for the most part. The only "new" people they'll get are the 5 year old kids who weren't alive when D1 launched. The other 13 million people who played this game and left already understand that you're playing this game for a *chance* at usable/endgame rewards due to PRNG from activities, and that once you get used to certain things in the game they will be changed or completely removed from the game. While it "keeps things fresh" it disregards all your invested time, money, and effort.

 • I mean, I find D2 raids to be fun. They are plenty replayable, this is a very subjective point that can't really be argued either way. That's why I'm trying to keep this conversation objective so we can actually get somewhere. And yes, it does mean raids are more accessible. That's kinda what "available" means. They're basically synonymous in this context. Compare getting proper gear to raid now and back in vanilla D1. They're honestly not even close. It's a night-and-day difference. Real difficult to prove it's a fallacy that will end up only being taken advantage of by five year olds. Kind of a weird thing to say, not gonna lie. Again, Destiny is infinitely better in this sense than other looters. In fact, Destiny 2 is much better about this than Destiny 1 was. Here I am almost in Shadowkeep and I'm still using weapons from the Leviathan. With Armor 2.0, it isn't removing your current armor either. You can change over whenever you please, or not at all if you really feel that way. Additionally, all gear in the game is being moved to a Power floor of 750 and can be infused. Your argument about previous gear being useless was valid in D1, but how is completely void.

 •
Compare getting proper gear to raid now and back in vanilla D1. They're honestly not even close.
D1's raid gear had raid specific perks so you're right.
Again, Destiny is infinitely better in this sense than other looters. In fact, Destiny 2 is much better about this than Destiny 1 was.
Possibly, but like I said 13 million people have already quit this game. Just because the old stuff is "free" doesn't mean people will play it. It was already free on PS+ and PC. Anybody who plays video games understands that this game relies on "a chance at" loot, so it's not a looter, it's a slot machine. It's a gamble any time you do an activity. "Will I get 1KV this time I do a raid run?" Not everyone wants to do stuff for a chance at rewards. I would think that 13 million people quitting this game would have made that a realization.
Here I am almost in Shadowkeep and I'm still using weapons from the Leviathan. With Armor 2.0, it isn't removing your current armor either.
That's possible yes, but I was referring to super/ability nerfs or nerfs to weapons.
