It’s not okay that crucible was neglected for a year because it was going free-to-play

Edit: people don’t seem to understand that these are Luke Smith’s words, not mine. I’m not wildly speculating here... he flat out says that they neglected pvp on purpose because it’s going free to play. If you hate pvp then just think about everything in pve that’s been neglected. Think critically about the bigger picture and Bungie’s attitude. Don’t just read “pvp” and crap your pants. We now know why crucible was left to die... Bungie purposely neglected it because it wasn’t going to be part of the Shadowkeep package that they could sell to people. It’s free to play in October. This sucks. I know that this is a business decision and money is important, blah blah blah, BUT - this was a giant “F U” to the players who bought your game. Pvp wasn’t free for us and we deserve better. This, coupled with the Eververse power creep (which needs a nerf far more than our guardians), really shows me what your priorities are, and it sucks.

PvP is an add-on for what should be primarily be a PvE game. Find something to do with your life other than queueing up for your 5000th meaningless quickplay match.

    • There is no f2p Destiny. It's another attempt by Bungie to redefine terminology. Small DLC became "expansions"! I have seen some hobby small team games with more actual content. Only the sound, music and gfx department is excelent.

It's ok everyone! Now that Destiny 2 is going Free2Play it's time we go into PvP with the most cancerous setup we can imagine and pubstomp these Newbies into dust. Make 'em regret ever stepping into our domain. I'm taking all the cheese. - DustRock, Luna/NF, Wardclif with Stomp33 spectral blades. - Bygones, Erentil, Truth, OEM strikers. - Mountain top, recluse, 1k voices Warlocks with Crown of tempest... We gotta absolutely Meta tier trashpile these fools.

    • So will new players on PS4 and XB1 need PlayStation plus and Gold to play PvP still?

      • Crucible in this game is the worst multi-player experience of any game I've ever played. It's gonna take more than a nerf to fix it too.

          • Bungo didn’t wait ’til they were goin’ free-to-play, free-to-enter, or wha’eva they’re callin’ it to address Crucible. They simply don’t have a plan for it and even the numerous changes they’re makin’ to address Crucible with Shadowkeep are more Band-Aids than outright fixes.

          • I think you may have misinterpreted what he meant, by they knew it was going to be available with new light, so they didn't invest more time in it. I don't think it was done based on greed, but rather the long history of complaints by this community, when people don't think they are getting enough bang for their buck, with new paid for expansions. You know, that had they focused time away from activities that people were going to spend money on in Shadowkeep, to bolster pvp, that is going to be free to everyone post Shadowkeep, that those in this community that hate pvp, would automatically complain about that time and energy spent. And blame that time spent on pvp, as why there isn't more pve activities in Shadowkeep. And to be fair, many people will still complain, regardless. Many gamers today, want 100s of hours of content for little to no cost to them. I think his statement also, kind of glossed over the fact that so much time and resources were used to create Gambit and Gambit Prime. Which were not as universally loved, as they had imagined those activities would be.

          • Crucible will never be fixed. If it's free then Bungie doesn't care. Bungie literally said they haven't payed attention due to PvP being free. Remember when Eververse broke and it was fixed within a 7 hour window? I sure do.

          • They have 800 employees. I'm starting to think 796 of them are janitors, HR and Luke Smith (plus his donut guy). The other 4 must be devs and the art guy.

            • Pvp in this game shouldn't be taken seriously anyways. It should be something to fill time when you dont have something to do, or just mess around in. Peer to peer in pvp is the first sign it shouldn't be taken seriously.

              • Sandbox updates happen rarely, bug fixes are slow and PvP is left to rot the only time the first 2 seem to happen is right before a content update that Bungie has sold or the bug has caused an exploit, Luke Smith made it clear if Bungie is not charging us for something or it does not drive up sales in the cashshop (events) then they have zero motivation to work on the game.

Doubt (to your title) that is the case. The update has very little to do with the f2p. They didn't know wtf to do with pvp and didn't have the time to fix it. What with the dlcs and the AP. Edit: they said right before forsaken they new they were neglecting PVP and they had stuff in the works, ToO and faction rallies are on a long hiatus. If anyone thinks they're updating PVP just because the free-to-play element you're an idiot. They already promised you they'd be fixing it. If this is a problem don't buy or play. I'm not buying but not for stupid reasons.

Crucible wasn't neglected, it still has problems that stem from vanilla launch. They put a bunch of bandaids on and went to work redoing the whole thing. Its why there are SO MANY changes coming in Shadowkeep.

                        • Nevermind the fact you got new maps and gamemodes, regardless of how popular they are among the majority of players. Do you people all collaborate with each other every morning to think of new things to b**ch about on here?

                          • I don't think that's the reason why. I think Bungie is super lazy and didn't know how to fix crucible so they just left it alone. Either way though it's messed up how they have not touched crucible since forsaken. It would be nice if from time to time they would just fix things and make things better without them having to stick to some bull shit schedule. For example it would be cool if one day you would log in and there would just be 1-2 new pvp maps. Or a new strike or a few new guns or new public events added into the game that were never announced several months in advance. Just add stuff to the game Bungie. Just add it in whenever. People would love it.
