  • And it's arguably more work than a normal job because you're running your own business and need to stay up to date on news, patches, events, content creation, etc

  • uhh, no. I guarantee you any of the muppet streamers/content creators tried any of the jobs I had or even jobs like being a roughneck, those pansy-wastes would quit within hours, be fired, or just flop over all limp like. I've done the 1% raiding in WoW back in Burning Crusade during my college years and the work that went into that, while some would consider "extensive", wasn't really all that bad, just the time dedicated to a hobby made it seem like a "normal" job. But let's cut the bullshit and quit acting like it's an actual job. Most content creators have nothing that's close to what you would consider an actual business. You literall ask people if you can use X, or you might pay an artist for content a nominal one time fee while your video goes on to generate money over time, etc, etc. You don't have employee's, 401k, insurance to worry about for many people, you don't have to worry about having a business lawyer or accountant/bank to handle big time finances. Nothing these weebs do is anything close to owning your own business. I come from a family that's owned/operated a construction company since the 60's and I can guarantee you that any influencer or content creator wouldn't last a day.

  • Okay.. congrats. At the end of the day it's still a job no matter how "easy" you think it is. For gods sake being a bus boy is a job and you just have to wash dishes. Just b/c they don't have to worry about employees, insurance, etc doesn't mean it's not a business. Being a streamer/youtuber falls under the entertainment umbrella. You can't compare construction to digital content creation. My parents are business owners and multiple property owners/landlords and they do not spend 80 hours working tf.

  • Then either they have had the "business" for years, and being a landlord ain't shit. My family owns multiple warehouse/offices, the only time we ever do any work with them is to fix something on the sites. BUT starting it up, we had to build those... no one paid my family to build them, weekends and nights outside of the regular 7-5 were spent building it up.... You clearly don't know shit about making something your own.. Just because "my parents" have this don't mean you know dick

  • Im trying to start YouTube and streaming and dude, its rough. It takes days upon days just to get yourself set up with all your basic stuff to actually be presentable. You have to find tools you like. Depending on the type of content you're making you need to be able to write a good script, provide accurate information, give a detailed and clear open ended opinion, be funny, be spontaneous, understand current trends, predict trends, appeal to an audience, edit etc. Its hard work And anything that earns you money and a good living is a job whether you like it or not. Thats the definition of a job And it is owning your own business. Big creators make their own brand and have to have a strong public image. If you sell any kind of merch, boom business. If you do art stuff like commissions and make vids of it, thats business Many channels do have employees actually. They employ editors, general advisors, financial advisors because YouTube income can be spotty, etc. You clearly know nothing about this so stop acting like you do. Take it from someone literally studying this stuff and trying to learn how to do it for themselves

Oh but I do from time to time and I'm almost always proven right, from Dead by Daylight to Smite to warframe, destiny, even super Mario. I could go on but you get the point. I wonder who would win the biggest douche award between dmbrandon and gladd?

We are talking about gaming are we not? Why would Dr. Pimple Popper have anything to do with the initial conversation? You are reaching for the stars. To infinity and beyond lmao

In the context of gaming which is what we are talking about. You taking things way out of context is reaching for the stars. Stop trying to bring animal planet into a conversation about how streamers and you tubers shape the game because the development team doesn't value any opinions other than theirs. Was Luke's direct referencing of Datto and Gladd too much for you grasp? When did he mention the endless posts of thousands of people complaining about the same things for ages? Cosmo and dmg almost never appear on anyone's posts and when they do its satire at best.

First off, everything here PALES in comparison to owning a real business, especially if its a business that has public shares. And hiring CONTRACTED workers to do some tasks for you IS NOT having an employee. You know nothing about running/owning a business. Tell me, what's the very first thing you do as an employer hiring someone? Have the answer? Probably not but I'll help you out. It's a background check. IE govt gets involved. You have to then also file, most commonly, a W-2/4. Also then you have to make sure state taxes are included. You also then are required, if its full time, to provide the option of insurance(s). You then also, depending on how big your company is and how valuable you consider your employee could be have to offer incentives like a 401k, matched to a certain percentage they would pay into it. You then also have to worry about lawyers/accountants to handle sometimes millions of dollars of money earned and spent. Before you want to act like picking which color palate looks best on your backdrops, maybe take a second and actually quit lying to yourself and own up to the fact you don't know shit about a real business

  • You're trying to compare a business in the real world to what is usually going too solely be a digital business and workspace. And we're talking about starting one at that. When you start a business unless you're loaded you're not going to be offering all that stuff, especially insurance at first. Background check is obvious, even YouTubers do it but not to such an extent with most things because they dont have that kind of access. However they themselves do check around about whoever they're bringing on board. I know that you have to file a W-2/4 and include state taxes, Ive taken classes on this stuff before lmao If the YouTube channel isn't a big company, 401ks and all that other kind of crap aren't going to be involved, thats just not how it works. Its different, especially when comparing the media/art field in the digital sense to anything else As far as a YouTuber goes, thats again like I said before something that is taken care of as well. They have to be ready with those tools due to how vulnerable of a position you can be in as a YouTuber or streamer. However none of this changes the fact that there's a job, brand, and business at play. You're netting your platform and yourself money and you have your own brand that you are pushing which is your content and its form. You can keep acting like you know everything but there are key fundamental difference to this that you're either oblivious too or straight up ignoring and it obvious. "Real" business. If it makes money that you're living off of, thats as real as it gets. Get of your fake high horse.

  • Just quit lying to yourself. No content creators do background checks. I bet you half the streamers/creators don’t even know the real names of most of their moderators. Nor do they even ask if the person can legally work within the US. No one is refuting the fact that it’s their job. They get paid for it sure. But not as business savvy people. I’ll tell you what, if you would agree that they are essentially painted w h o r e s getting paid by voyeurs who sometimes get to influence what they do, and their pimps are YouTube and twitch. Then sure it’s a business

  • Do you know what start up capital and business loans are for? And yes... even if you’re a brand new company hiring full time employees you HAVE to offer those things. Here’s what you weebs don’t realize... anyone partially skilled enough to not look brain dead on stream can do it. Some of its luck, some of its timing, but take a hard look at 90% of the content creators, especially for Destiny, and you’ll see they’re all the same. You will also see the YouTubers for Destiny, most of the time, are just trash at the game. Not talking about people like CammyCakes here, I’m talking about all the 1-2videos a day guys like Khakis and others. They get carried through half the shit they do, they have to use other people’s accounts to show off new shit, of which most of the time they have shit information or it’s the same rehashed shit and they’re just parroting it. They turn what could be done in 30 seconds by someone, and stretch it out to 12 minutes. And here’s the saddest part about all this. There are people who actually think they are releasing content. The only Destiny YouTuber I’ll watch is Byf, sometimes MyelinGames. And that’s literally only because they release lore content of which I’d rather listen to while playing some mundane activity.
