• Luke Smith you should do video dev updates making updates and responding to the community sorta like over watches director jeff kaplan you could address community concern talk about future plans and change things according to what the community wants i dont see the need in redacted content unless its like whisper or zero hour

  • Just think what it would be like if Luke and/or the development team addressed the community like this since the beginning... Well, Luke Smith would still be the same old Luke Smith, ,but the community wouldn't have to play such a shitty guessing game on wtf is going on. In my opinion, Bungie does not deserve the level of loyal fans it enjoys. Luckily for Bungie, there will always be plenty of disciples. I've got an idea for you Luke, put all the Eververse merchandise on the initial loading screen. Remove as many steps as possible for the disciples to the gift shop. Make them have to click through it before the game will actually start.

      • My 2 cents on community interaction. Cent1: Disable these forums, seriously. The forums here are nothing but a breeding ground for hateful little people who want nothing but for y'all to fail, and fact is, you're nowhere near failing. The game is in the best place it's ever been, and there are many other options for real time feedback. Cent2: Stream your observations, all of them. If you're looking for real time interaction, transparency, and feedback...then conduct these updates in a medium that can actually provide these things. Connectedness won't be achieved by posting something on a billboard and waiting to see the response. Broadcast it, live, and actually read and reply to chat in real time. I think you'd be surprised how quickly the community would rally with you if they (we) felt involved.

This is what I got from Luke's rant.... The Annual Pass was so hard, it was and I quote "who had jumped from release to release-- about the grind of working on Destiny. Working on the game was starting to wear people down." What about the grind of the player base??? "We're going to take this problem on in D2Y3" said Luke Smith. Are you going to do the same for the player base? Are you going to address the grind issue that you have caused? Shadowkeep is make it or break it, and will set precedent for D3 and Bungie's future. The rest of the rant is just a rant and confirmation that the Management Team only interest is to cater to the Streamers and they give a rat's bunghole about the community. His rant also confirms he is completely out of touch on the Community. Luke is one of the many reasons why the game has crashed and fallen as far as it did. Get a better leader with a better vision, the future of Bungie depends on it.

I’m so glad we will be able to access Eververse from orbit. That information was vital and needed to be conveyed ahead of time. Glad you took the time to address it. I would’ve been kicking myself if I didn’t know this and spent time traveling to the tower. ——————————————————————— Edit: Couple of quick suggestions: 1) Please increases the font size of displayed Silver amounts to 48pt. 2) Please decrease the font size of Bright Dust and Glimmer to 4pt. I want to clearly to clearly see the differences based on importance.

        • Most of the people I played D1 with left D2 long ago and the rest have stopped as well in the past few months. I took a break around the time outbreak perfected came out and then returned when a friend wanted to get bad juju (he jumped back into the game for a few hours and never came back to finish the quest). I've kept playing since. I often ask myself why I'm still playing because for the most part, this game no longer brings me joy. I pretty much solo everything at this point so I have never completed a D2 raid and still never got WOTW or OP and feel like I'm missing out on most of the game anyway. I loved D1, the world, the aesthetic, the feel of the game..besides a few small things I feel like D2 has been a disappointing regression and a waste of so much potential and it makes me sad. I don't think any of my friends are coming back for shadow keep and so far, especially after the directors cut, I'm not sure I will be either. I really want this game to be amazing but it's been a long time already and I'm concerned that if we're not there by now, we never will be. We'll see what the rest of the directors cut says but I'm very skeptical.

It was extremely difficult reading past the ego and arrogance. It felt like I was being talked down to the entire time, like a child receiving a scolding. Maybe next time, it'd be better if he tucked those two ugly human qualities away when trying to connect with the community. :( You don't connect with people by talking down to them.

              • Rpg Elements lol, rewarding, challenging. Frickin lies. Every reward like nf specially nf got nerfed. This are death sentence for a game. No words about pvp not one like the the competetive Bug that's still on going doesn't let you spawn in Countdown and survival also the dmg Bug that sometimes Player one Hit you with a primary shot. No words no fixes. This kind of things Show what you guys really do for pvp exactly nothing for Weeks. Frick that no one really cares about supers that much personaly i don't care because supers are easy to out perform or to kill already. This is an absolut joke. I will not buy shadowkeep if things stay this way.

There are more awesome comments on here than I’ve ever seen in one place. This is my massive upvote for the general tone of feedback here, which is just people being honest. Personally, it’s great to hear this much in a forum comms from Bungie’s LS. I just wish it had come a lot sooner. I think that is one “learnings” that needs to be embraced. Doing it now will leave an aftertaste of desperation. Not saying it is, but people are going to think it and then start saying it. The learnings is that you can’t let it stop you. You have to push forward. Speaking of good/bad looks, if you want to get ahead of a nerf, don’t refer to a streamer, especially by name. Putting aside how folks generally feel about streamers here, it makes you look like you’re deferring to them. It’s like, if you can’t explain it, and stand on your reasons as the leader of the company, revolt is inevitable. It looks like you’re not in charge, or setting up a scapegoat. Are people advising you? I’ve had a few roles in dev ops. I understand what it means to develop in parallel, and the technical debt that follows. I’m trying to stay positive here, so I’m not going to touch the notion of how hard it was for you to deliver the AP. I’ll take your point, and grant that you believe your devs were hard-pressed. I will say, though, that stacking dev that way requires premeditated decisions on how much technical debt you’re willing to let run wild, and how loose the integration between each value stream can be. If your teams are mixed with 3rd party contributors, and they are large and/or numerous, some of it’s understandable. Daily stand ups are meant to mitigate, but they can be intrusive and disruptive with too many people or if held too often. If you really believe it’s been hard for your devs, considering all the reuse you had, then your problem is likely context-switching. It causes fatigue. That’s a problem that starts with discovery/planning and ends exacerbated by technical debt, loss of tribal knowledge and lack of common language among teams. I think this does sort of explain why the only new enemies we’ve had since D1 are the scorn. I can appreciate that. RE ammo economy- if you’re going to nerf mechanics that circumvent it, you’re going to have to fix the economy itself. Honestly, it seems more like an ecosystem IMhO. The point is you cannot allow the long stretches of drought we currently have, followed or preceded by one activity where there’s more ammo than we can use. If that cannot be fixed, then let us keep and store what we find. Then it will be a quasi economy. Or you could let us buy bricks again. Don’t get me wrong, there’s way more ammo in the wild in D2 than D1. I’m just saying that nerfing isn’t the first step to take I think. Maybe address the drought issue first? IDK, dude. Maybe I’m way off. I don’t really care, this is a great distraction for me rn. I guess if you only take one thing from this, let it be to take the feedback here. I haven’t seen a post here from anyone that doesn’t sound like they love this game. I’m sure there are some, but the fact I haven’t seen one says a lot! Look past the bitterness and occasional angst. Take the feedback unfiltered. I can almost promise you find a vision that inspires you all.

A seat on the board of directors and a share of the profits of course , but what else ? Is there a team of Bungie employees working with NetEase ? Can we expect Destiny Mobile some day soon ? I'm just curious since we haven't heard anything about NetEase on the Bungie home page since the original deal was announced.

                  • I have to disagree about Luke’s no content droughts this year. Personally this was the biggest content drought from the entire franchise. I play Destiny for campaign and strikes, I spent literally hundreds of hours in D1 strikes. It’s been over a year since we had a new strike, an increase in strike playlist difficulty or any new campaign. All of these are by far the biggest droughts of there kind. This really makes me think he has no clue what he is talking about.

Yeah, look. I'm not excited for Shadowkeep anymore. This entire first post just read... badly. It addressed nothing. It served no purpose but to say the same old song and dance that we get in TWAB every week. In fact, aside from stating the obvious (your devs working way too hard, your ideas not working, your insufferable urge to turn this game into WoW and then ruin it in the exact same way), all you did was kill the interest I had for touching Destiny ever again. WHY do you need to continue expanding Eververse? Why do you keep wasting the talents of your artists on cosmetic stuff that, let's be honest, you have NO right to be selling as microtransactions? They should be included as gear for the actual gameplay, not locked behind soon-to-be-banned loot boxes and paywalls. You have not done a single thing that justifies any purchase of Silver. "oH wE mAdE zErO hOuR oN eVeRvErSe fUnDs"- BULLSHIT. You already had Zero Hour made with Forsaken and were just waiting for the right moment to release it, so using the hard work of your developers to try and bait more MTX purchases out of the playerbase is yet another shitty idea of yours, Luke. I hope the other two parts this week don't contain more of this self-serving, unapologetic and "go-F-yourself-and-play-the-game-my-way" attitude, but it's a veeeerry low hope. I know for a fact that you guys in upper management don't give a rat's ass about the playerbase and its desires. We can see it in your work.

                        • Gonna C&P my thoughts on this from elsewhere
It'll be interesting to see how Bungie approach this. For all the complaints about the Power Creep etc, its this very sandbox that played a large part in rejuvenating the franchise. I know a huge part of me leaving D2 for a good 5-6 months was how toothless and bland everything felt. Supers were mostly dull, disappointing and rarely earned. Exotics offered more novelty than practical use in most cases. Movement was sluggish... What brought me back was the increase in super effectiveness, quicker, snappier movement and Exotics being rejigged to offer exciting gameplay possibilities once again. Everyone has to remember that this is a game, and nothing murders a games enjoyability faster than high difficulty coupled with painfully dull gameplay.
Tl;dr - I understand not wanting Power Creep, but lets not give it the "Dire Skull" treatment eh?

                            • I'M A HUGE MORON. LOL. Like I really know, I am. But who else but Luke Smith can deliver to us the game we want? He's asking for feedback. Nothing about what he wrote suggests to me that he's not trying. I fully support everything he wrote. I don't care about the past. Let it go. It doesn't matter. He has learned. Bungie has learned. A lot. He is putting his focus on the future because you have to do that if you want to get anything done. He understands that, obviously. He's going to deliver. Everything they are doing is moving things in the right direction. Bungie, as a team, is the best we have and they'll pull this off. They're awesome. They're doing their best. Nothing about what's going on now suggests anything else. Is Shadowkeep not going to be great? Yes, it is going to be great. Give them credit for that. They did that. How can hate help anything? What? Mistakes can't be made? Things improve because people learn from mistakes. Destiny, certainly since Forsaken, has been improving. A lot of experimentation but that's innovation, that's how things move along... you have to try stuff, ideas. Forgive. Feed them good energy. They're the only ones working on the game we all love. Support them. Don't suggest that they don't love the game. Don't suggest that they hate us. Point to a single Bungie employee who hates the player base or community. That's stupid and is not helpful. It's silly to see a company try and suggest that any such effort is worthless. None of it is worthless. Every thing about all of this is woven into the fabric of this game. Good, bad--it's all Destiny. Accept what you love with an open heart and mind. Don't feed it hate. Hate kills. Bungie isn't some boogie man, bad guy. There's a beating heart, there.

The influence streamers have on this game is made pretty clear here. What do streamers do? They stand inside Warlock shenanigans with coordinated teams and stack buffs/debuffs to pump out insane dps to make cool videos. I've been talking about stacking for a while now. When I saw Lumina I thought to myself "Oh God here we go again, another stacking piece for coordinated streamer teams to abuse...". But NOPE! Bungie saw that sh1t coming and preemptively said NEIN! Lumina was the first indication that Bungie understood the issue with stacking. And now we have it in writing: stacking nerf inbound! And Well is obviously part of that.

                                • I just got back into playing maybe a month or two ago after taking a long break ( around the time black armory came). The first of the new activities I did was the menagery, and i quite enjoyed it since there was no way to fail which allowed me to learn how each room worked. I haven't done the heroic yet since I don't have many people to do a fireteam with, but I'm fine doing just the regular version. Picking my rewards is a nice addition, especially since I could run it all day to get what I want if I really wanted to. Then once the solstice came and I had to do the gambit matches I wasn't to excited about that. Then I saw people were saying gambit prime worked towards it, so I decided to give that a try since classic gambit always ended poorly. Mainly cuz my teams would get crushed 90% of the time. So my first gambit prime match didn't go so good, mainly because I wasn't too sure how it worked. I ended up winning cuz I'm pretty sure the other team was just throwing, but my matches after that weren't too bad. I just seen what "roles" my tm8s were doing and I ended up being the invader/ killing invaders. If there was a way to determine who has what role I think would be a good improvement, maybe something like how overwatch does there character selection. Other than that I really enjoy gambit prime over classic gambit. Black armory is ok, especially if you need a specific weapon to get your power up. For the part about the powerful rewards maybe it could be made that each activity gives a certain powerful gear, like gambit weekly engram rewards a helmet or another piece of armor, crucible rewards a primary or secondary weapon. Maybe even give a choice on which weapon or armor piece you want/ need, sort of like how it was in d1 with factions. All in all i think the game is a lot better than it was when I took my long break. Yes there is still stuff wrong with the game, but I just like how there's more of a selection of activities and rewards from close to a year ago.
