• “We’ve been moving away from Dlc” No, you have moved towards dlc with a season pass that introduces a game mode and little content to keep naive fans grinding

    • This post left me feeling mostly concerned. I started playing D2 about 3 months ago and as such spent a lot less than most for the same content. I feel I got my money's worth, but once again I spent a fraction of what most paid. This game isn't worth its full day one price. I can't help but feel this next expansion might be better after discounts as well. But we shall see.

        • It’s an interesting read. Looking back is important but for the next year there needs to be massive development on the past years mistakes and criticisms. There’s been a wide range of feedback and toxicity (my toxicity included) but in the end many of us do want improvement because we want to enjoy the game more. Destiny is in a great spot. When I came back in January there was much to do with Forsaken so I didn’t know where to start. Black Armoury was a thing which I was intrigued with too. The problem with these to me was that when they were done, that was it really. You get your weapons and rolls but then stop. The worst way to handle this situation would be to force people into those game modes. There needs to be more incentive than just loot which is a hard thing to overcome. Since you’ve decided the same is going full MMO, there are many ways to deal with this such as skills (ones which can be swapped on and off individually similar to D1). There would need to be LOTS, and they’d have to be developed when using certain weapon types and such. The skills themselves could benefit weapon types like handcannons, where they deal bonus damage under specific circumstances or can have combos with character abilities and such. To many this would be an awful move, but in the end it’s one of many options that come with making the game an MMO. There’s massive possibilities with what to do with the game, but that’s pretty much always been the case. Please make a better next year for everyone to enjoy.

Good job by the Scarab Lord himself, to take the time to 'unravel' his thought processes, as HE drives forward this beautiful game... You asked for some feedback? Well, just take a look at my very, very long list of posts, made on this Forum, since D1Y1, and you'll see, they pretty much all point to the same thing viz. Destiny is Getting Worse and We Guardians are on the Wrong Side of a Toxic Relationship. After the debacle of firing the Bungie 'A' Team, the Bungle 'B' Team took over...and slowly, but ever so surely, things got progressively worse: nerfs, xp throttling, lies, deceit, more lies, broken promises, failures, radio silence, hiding behind the Bungle Ramparts, NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THIS FORUM'S COMMUNITY DIRECTLY....and you wonder why many became 'toxic'....well, there you make an error: your version of 'toxic' was, in reality, for the persons' contributing thoughts to help improve the game in all its facets, that 'toxicity' was merely Guardians' FRUSTRATION - because you just simply blanked them/us...ignored them/us....hid behind a wall of radio silence... Then the debacle of D2Beta - oh my?! For many, that was a foretaste of what was to come...and so it proved to be - just that! Another Class 1 Cluster FVCK! SNAFU + FUBAR = SNAFUBAR That's when many of us voted with our feet. Me too. I went to WarFrame - and enjoyed that for the following few seasons; until, one day, talking about D1 with my wingman, I watched a video I'd made (one of many) of my Wingman in action...and I got hit by a wave of nostalgia...a quick visit to Destiny Forsaken...and I rejoined, and started the grind all over again. Now, I've just completed my 3rd Set of Solstice gear, so, here are a few of my thoughts about how I see the game in its current state, and, where I think it could go... But first, a little aside concerning Datto. Personally, I quite enjoy watching his vids, along with other 'influencers' such as, Esoterikk (although he speaketh not much, but is an epic player, so much can be learned by watching how he goes about his missions!); FalloutPlays, NinjaPups, Ebontis, CammyC, and more besides...these are great sources of information on many facets of Destiny's gameplay. Now, back to Datto: a lot of negativity is foisted upon him for his few comments that have been followed by an instant nerf to said item he was complaining about; coincidence? a timed event? whatever! It matters not, but, Datto now has a GF to support, so, his priorities are somewhat different than they might have been before vis a vis commercial considerations, the household budget, and - let's not forget - commenting on video games seems to be how he earns a crust. Go Figure! Back to my thoughts on D2 Forsaken... Gambit: is a rigged game. (See my recent post...easy to do from your end, if desired) No mistake about it. It is NOT FUN to play. After I achieved Dredgen, I steered clear...until Solstice requirements sent me back; and, not much has changed. I detest the 'ex machina' game mechanics in Destiny. I absolutely detest the way such are employed within Gambit and Gambit Prime...whenever I got the slightest advantage in any way, a horde of insta-kill enemies would spawn behind me or I'd get shot by a red-bar sniper hidden behind the moon. The only saving grace that puts Gambit P above Gambit = is the shorter time spent until the round is over. Other than that, nothing. Reckoning: I loved the idea of the different roles, and the armour sets to identify such; I got a full set of each colour, but for me, my typical roles were a mix of Reaper and Sentinel...they were ever thus. When I looked at Tier 2, and then at Tier 3 - to me, it was one hoop too many, notwithstanding the stomp mechanics of the bosses. Seriously, not fun, no way, no how. Part II to follow.... QP vs. Comp: simply dreadful. QP is where the frustrated stomp crowd strut their stuff, lording it over newberries and blueberries alike; to watch them in action, simply boggles the mind. But, can one blame them? With nowhere to go, e.g., Trials, then, once they've achieved the pinnacle weapon(s), they, for one, do NOT want to go against players of a superior calibre, hence, the hop over to QP. As for Comp: it needs restructuring...tier 1 playlist/queue - for any player until they have acquired a pinnacle weapon, then, they are automatically moved into tier 2 playlist /queue - to continue the grind for the next pinnacle weapon...or not. And NO ONE is allowed into QP if they have a pinnacle weapon in their loadout. Also, for Comp - remove the points loss mechanism as it serves no purpose other than to hamper one's efforts. Raids: last one I did was the Siva one...and even then, the hoops were getting way too many for my liking. After you nerfed Touch of Malice, a pinnacle weapon that was a grind-and-a-half to acquire, then, when the whole purpose behind getting that weapon was to use it along with my Titan/Bubble to help players do Oryx on Hard Mode, and to help close the Moments of Triumph book for that year, as the deadline for such was rapidly approaching, it felt like a double kick-in-the-wotsits...but, what it really said to me, was - 'what's the point?' Indeed, what is the point of doing just about anything in D2 Forsaken when everything gets nerfed into almost total uselessness? The exotic sniper that I've owned three times (talk about 'old wine in new bottles' - to the max), was nerfed yet again: I am not grinding for it for a 4 time. In fact, there is so much that I don't want to do in Destiny because what you've actually achieved is to make me not trust you, and by 'you' I mean 'Bungle'. And now you're complaining that your poor little workers are overworked?! Well, how is that anything to do with the Guardian Community? It's your company, modify your workplace to not stress them out...and pay them well if they're performing 'over and above' the call of duty (lol) - just like any other business!!! Paywalls and EverWorse: not good. I personally have no problem with a ski resort / theme park - 'Fast Pass' model; those that can afford it, can join the Express Lane, the Middle Lane, or for those who can't afford it - the Slow Lane. That said, the Slow Lane should be able to acquire every item in the game through a lengthier grind - and that's okay!...but, not a stupid grind, as is currently the way in D2F Solstice Event. There are lots of ways to derive income streams from the game, and I am quite convinced many sensible Guardians would happily support the venture - if, and it's a big 'IF' - it was done sensibly and sensitively, e.g., monthly subs. But, the problem is, you (Bungle) have deceived us so many times in the past, how can we ever trust a word that springs forth from those cake-holes? Lag / Latency: this needs fixing. Maybe it's your antique steam-operated 'Engine' driving the game that needs replacing, if so, make it so: get a warp drive and install it pronto! That's where 'monthly subs' could enter the picture?! Positive Stuff: there is so much to like about Destiny - the environment, the artwork, the music, the freedom of movement, the absolute brilliance of being able to share a virtual space with up to 5 other players from every corner of the planet in 'real time' (almost, lol) and engage in 'real time game play'...to me, it's simply astonishing! And that's what draws us back, time and time again. In my case, me and my wingman came here from HALO...and the Bungie of those days was the 'A' Team...then, began the shenanigans....and everything went pear-shaped... But, D2F was a big step in the right direction, imho, and, engaging directly with this Community is another great step. Have the confidence to build those burned bridges, talk directly with us, and establish a good basis for the mutual respect to re-establish and be rekindled...and you will reap the rewards. In all the years since I've been a Guardian, I have yet to see anyone 'bear down' on the actual game of Destiny itself; yeah, a few moans and groans about the shortcomings earlier on, but, for the most part, this Community has remained constant in its message to YOU: Stop FVCKING this beautiful game over, and 'fixing' stuff that does NOT NEED FIXING (NERFING); and cool your jets - especially for short-term avaricious gains. All we want is for YOU to MDGA! Anyhoo, there's probably loads more to add, but, I'm old and I forget stuff... lol Just my 2d worth. YMMV. Cheers! MDGA (Make Destiny Great Again)

            • Zero hour wasn't paid for by whisper ornaments, the ornaments simply brought in money to match what zero hour cost. There's a difference. Without eververse we'd still have content. Details matter. Greed is bad. Fancy some new moves, maybe a loss of players?

You had 5 years to learn from your mistakes. You made Destiny nearly perfect in year 3 post Rise of Iron and, for some ridiculous reason, decided to start Destiny 2 from scratch rather than improving upon the already incredible system that was working sooooo goood. Look at where we are now. A Destiny 2 trying to be a wannabe Destiny 1. Imagine how far along we could have been if you people didn't start over. In year 3 post Rise of Iron there was loot to chase, activities to do and fun to be had for casuals, hardcores and everyone in between. What happened?

Firstly the main thing wasn’t addressed and that’s encounter design. How can we say Well of Radiance, for example, is too much when pretty much Boss encounters are built around surviving until you need to stand in one static spot and dump all your weapons to pass a DPS-check. Come back to that though... It worries me to hear about the difficulty associated with the season passes, juxtaposed with the fact that a bunch of things about power fantasy and nerfs are mentioned, but there’s pretty much nothing significant about Reward and Incentive. Things are often over-thought with Destiny. We asked for Strike Rewards back. We got this troublesome Nightfall thing we like 2% drop rates, when we just asked for what was already done well in D1. Yes, SOTDrifter was too narrow. But that narrowness could have been largely overlooked if there was a similar intentional system to Black Armory. Instead there is the dislike of Gambit, the brokenness of Invader armor and cross-map one hit kills, PLUS the fact the best new weapons have ridiculous drop rates. On top of that, most live events dropped with all the new items that would have made them worthwhile, locked behind Eververse. So, you want me to do this huge laundry list of micro-grinds, for a sparrow or a bow, but all this new loot and gear is in Eververse exclusively... with a limited time of availability on top of that. Then there’s events where you’re grinding for all these packages, in a Year 2 or 3 event....... but, inside the packages is all Year 1 Vanilla Rare Items and planetary mats 🤔 but Eververse has new gear, sparrows, ghosts, ornaments, you name it. So, why am I grinding this meta game? Okay.. now.. moving on, a lot of this sounds identical to the type of signaling that happened, for example, with Luke saying HE didn’t want us to choose weapons “based on a color” — and that led to a domino effect of things... |Elemental Primaries removed -Loved Weapons being “left behind” —End game activities rendered obsolete —-Future Raid Gear losing appeal / significance ——Redone raids later on nerfing weapons via “Exotic” classification (Fate Bringer was not in the same class as Hawkmoon or Thorn, bruh) ———The tragedy that was D2 Vanilla’s weapon system Please, don’t. Not again. Now. Power. The thing is... while power increased, correct me if I’m wrong but our actual physical guardian also got weaker in terms of scale of damage taken, particularly with the delta changes in Forsaken. Character Level literally doesn’t even mean anything outside of the gates to max level placed on what weapon and armor you can equip at the time, and access to select activities. At max level, your actual Light Level to some extent feels the exact same, except in activities where there is DPS check / overwhelming hidden modifiers (raid, heroic menagerie, etc) The fact we’re made of piñata paper, and stepping into an activity where the enemies are 2 levels above, there’s hidden damage modifiers, AND mechanics at play... necessitates things like Warlock’s being stuck on their subclass. Especially when you put that together with repeated encounter / boss design that groups you up in a central location where this horde of OP enemies can focus on you, and you’re completely surrounded. And the aimbot force is strong with the most lethal enemies, especially Hive. Acolytes can hit you with fireballs from cross map without even needing to be able to see you. Hive Boomers are the same. Then there’s the sniper character of all races, no matter how mobile your character is, they can always hit the perfect shot on a moving target, even though their weapon only fires in a straight line 😂 This also goes back to incentive. Namely, the balance of effort and reward Example: Going back to do Escalation Protocol for fun. Much lower leveled enemies are still delta’d to flinch and melt you into oblivion. Or other activities where the recommended Light is... whatever your Light is. Yet, while the activities are scaled up to you — the weapons and armor are obsolete. So... weapons got stronger, characters got more fragile. The Forges have done pretty good at staying relevant. But, that speaks to yet another issue with the season pass.... Vendor Refreshes. We’re still getting the SAME Y1 Armor and Weapons in like 95% of those drops, including all of those Powerfuls he mentions. Even if we could, for example, get all-white reskins of the Forge gear with new rolls and new shaders. Cool. Same with the planetary vendors. New activities send us to grind on these planets... 10 Public Events on Nessus, 25 Patrols on the EDZ.... and all the drops while grinding these out are the same drops from D2 Vanilla. Jump into the EAZ... same thing... same drops... of course, it’s for the armor... but it’s an update of the same armor, but incompatible with the glows... which are, again, Eververse exclusive.. along with all the other new content. Supers. Supers are not unkillable in PvP. The thing is, they move so Fast. You die, spawn across the map, and they’re over there. Plus the emphasis on roaming has made it so that many of them are just too hard to track, to even be able team shot them... unless you’re in an enclosed space, which case you’re already dead lol. Did I mention spawns are terrible? Yeah. That. The problem with nerfing them is, this is going to gut them in PvE. Most of them are only good for ad clear as it stands. Titans certainly cannot stand any nerfing, on the PvE side. So, maybe, for example... Guardians return less super energy than Minions of the Darkness, rather than just a blanket nerf to health and up-time. Same for the roaming void hunter.. you NEVER see this subclass in PvE, even with Shattering Strike lol. It doesn’t last long enough to do much against Majors, aim detection goes right past enemies, etc. So, again the PvE vs PvP issue

                    • Heres what i got from this (in random order because my memory sucks, sorry) 1) Bungie felt overburdened with putting out content when they had activision and its 2 other studios helping them. Which means that WITHOUT them, bungie isnt going to be able to keep up with anything, and lead to content droughts. "Working on the game was starting to wesr people down", thats sad. 2) Gambit sucks, quite literally. With the reckoning being the only way to get the armor (that was stupid) to play the "roles" by the time a full decent set of armor rolled, playing gambit felt pointless because the chances of getting anything worth while out of gambit is pathetically low. Get rid of it. 3) the reckoning, you guys didnt even play test that crap. Dont even pretend you did. Its not WoR fault that reckoning sucks, its the entire game mode itsself that sucks. The slam mech on a bridge barely 10ft wide? What crayon eating moron thought that was ok? Then the snipers that literally 2 tap coming from both sides with absolutely no way to hide from them all the while having endless thrall spawn with bosses using stomp mechanic. If well hadnt existed reckoning would have been damn near impossible. But again, yall dont play test a single ounce of "content" so this us doomed to happen 4) eververse. We get it, theyre cosmetics and do not influence gameplay in anyway, duh. Anyone thats ever touched a game with microtransactions know that. What DOES suck is that absolutely NONE of it is earnable while it has the most content out of the entire game. You have legendaries and exotics that are literally only worth the mats you get from them. You have legendaries that are used until something better comes along and then completely dismantled, some just get instantly dismantled because why use a crappy 749 light weapon when my 745 has 10x better perks? That 4 light trade off isnt worth it. So abput 80-90% of the "loot" isnt even the slightest bit useful making eververse seem as though it has 10x more content. Eververse should be a way to buy something IF you want to skip the grind to EARN it. Everything in eververse should be EARNABLE in world. 5) WoTW was just a stupid idea from the get go. You KNEW how having that weapon work that way would end because YOU DID THE EXACT SAME THING IN DESTINY 1. You literally did the exact same thing in D1 and then had to nerf it into the ground to where it was never used after that, then you think it was a good idea to do the same thing in D2 as if it wouldnt happen again? How moronic can you get to make the exact same mistake TWICE and "fix it" the exact same way TWICE making the exact same gun useless TWICE? Fire that guy. 6) the pursuits tray. Oops, big deal. I thought it was MEH but people blew it way out of proportion. The hot key idea and the new layout you showed is a really good idea, i like it. I think itll be a lot better. GG on that. 7) escalation protocol. Just make it similar to how the forges work, you start it, it begins MM then once you have 6 or 8 players it then launches the event. The instance thing sucks. EP is fun as hell but trying to get enough people to beat it sucks so it just gets ignored by alot of people. 8) the chalice. We need more of them. A way to dictate what we get makes activities 10x more fun because you know at the very least youve got a 100% drop rate on the loot you want which makes the activity seem like less of a chore and more like fun. I should be able to choose to get a spare ration from reckoning. Id grind it all day for that perfect roll. But a chance at a chance at a chance? Not a chance in hell. This post didnt have very many good vibes coming from it. Im feeling that shadowkeep is going to be a massive let down right now mainly because of my very first point. If you felt burnt out putting out content when you had activision their other 2 studios helping i have a feeling its either going to be worse going solo or content is going to be barely dripping in and the game as a whole is going to suffer. Especially when it comes to fixing bug, glitches, and over all game breaking problems. I have an extremely bad feeling about shadowkeep

I feel bad for your devs. They work hard. What I don’t like is how you treat this game and where you lead it. Sell the ip to another studio or something. it’s making me sick seeing how bad things have turned.

                          • So all this post shows is that Luke Smith doesn't play his own game. That Bungie rely far to heavily on streamers to tell them what needs to be changed instead of listening to the fans base. I understand if you look in the wrong places there's a lot of negativity but that comes with making a product. There will always be good and bad and bungie need to get over themselves and pay attention. Eververse. This just shows that they want even more money from us after we have all paid out up to and over for some $200. Eververse already got bigger after the split and now it's getting it's own didcated area on the director?!?! Are you kidding me?! This is being introduced with them getting rid of bright dust? Does no one else see this for the money grab it is? It's not even just ships, ghosts and sparrows anymore. No, now we will have to pay because we want our titans to have better looking shoulders! That's beyond ridiculous. Finally let's not forget that eververse was originally introduced to take the pressure of then when it came to making content. It was originally intended that because of eververse, dlc would be free. Instead it's ridiculously expensive and there's no balance between in game cosmetics that we can earn and what we have to pay for. What gives Bungie? Gambit. It's mentioned how one of the game modes is basically going to go. Well we already know which one. Gambit prime will be here to stay as it's got the reckoning attached. Why even make it out like there will be a decision. Its obviously already been made. We, the fan base won't get asked what we think. It won't matter which mode the majority want to keep. Annual pass. If Bungie had trouble keeping up with the content then why are they offering another annul pass with Shadowkeep? Luke Smith said it was too difficult so why are they putting themselves in that situation again? Apparently it was too hard for them which is obvious seeing as Acitivion had to get 2 other studios in to actually make the content. What did Bungie do with vicarious visions and high moon worked on their game? I would honestly like to know because this just baffles me. Are Bungie simply trying to deliver too much or too silly to take a step back and look at what they can realistically achieve? At the end of the day this article has made me lose even more faith in Bungie and their ability to deliver anything that isn't mtx. I know people are going to give me a load of hate for this, but I hope there are others who feel the same. This is all written in the form of constructive criticism and really just the desire to have Bungie explain some of the rather odd choices they are making.
