in case anyone doesn't understand the point: its a celebration, i dont know how you do celebrations from where you people live, but places like Glass Fest where we celebrate the achievements of the (ex) glass capitol of the world (thanks corning for moving half the glass facilities to Ohio, we lost to the damn Chinese because of that), they literally hand out little trinkets and items thematic to the event, hand blown glass tree bulbs, glass fish statuettes, prisms, etc we are not forced to make these item our selves, or do random tasks to get these, its a celebration YOU DO NOT FORCE PEOPLE TO GRIND FOR CELEBRATORY REWARDS i could go on an hour long rant naming off events and what they give out because they are celebrating an achievement or holiday, but for sanity sake lets go with Ecuador summer solstice celebration since its the closest resemblance to this event, the literally have food, games, parades, and for tourists you can get shirts, Incas themed accessories, snow globes, and canes. some thing you have to buy, but its also cheap compared to the fact it would cost hundreds of dollars to ship them to you, but the bigger point YOU DO NOT MAKE PEOPLE TO GRIND FOR CELEBRATORY REWARDS have i said it enough for y'all to understand, that is the point BOOMSILENT is trying to make. grinding can be nice especially in an MMORPGFPS like destiny, but not for celebrations.

  • No, you are missing the point. This is a game. What would you like them to do? Make your character eat in celebration? Look at animated fireworks? Go do that irl.

My point is it's not a real celebration and you cant expect it to be like one. Ofc people in real life aren't going to grind for celebratory rewards, what the hell does that even mean? Imma jump through a bunch of hoops to get presents? In video games the events can be whatever the hell the devs want. E.g. In Overwatch, same thing, you have to either grind for or buy celebratory rewards for events. I dont know what is expected from a mock summer solstice in a grindfest video game...besides another grindfest. People should know the game by now.

  • the point would be celebrations are suppose to be fun, not shit tons of stressful grinding, the game mode it brings is usually pretty fun, but most of us are tired of borderline month long grinds for something that really isnt worth it after we have it, the celebrations should be reworked into something that gives you fun mini-games, activities, and interactions, maybe even a free ghost/emote/shades pack/etc, one of those not all....unless they wanted to. *wink wink nudge nudge devs* as for the {insert vulgar insult ending in -ing here} moron above that commented about dont give participation rewards(looked up while typing this and it was gone, might have been a bug or a helpful mod that removed it),thats the same mentality that gave rise to monopolies, and they destroy economies and shatter human rights, plus this game is 50% participation rewards. the major point is games are for fun, we shouldn't have to pour our lives into it plus if they call it a celebration and dont make it a celebration then thats just a dick move, thats like going to a store and they tell you there is a sale but all the stuff is "marked off" but higher prices than before the "sale"

  • I agree with you, but at the same time, what do you expect from bungie? Theyve turned this game into a spam powercreep grindfest. Everyone is complaining about how grindy solstice is, but its been this way for the past year. We didnt see it coming.

  • you would think with the break off from activision they would start listening to the community, but its starting to look like they may become worse than activision, seeing as they are increasing the grind ever since the break up happened
