If you want to restart Zero Hour, Whisper, or the Bad Juju quest, you simply exit and start again (from the beginning). If you are in a Nightfall and wish to restart, you return to Orbit and restart (from the beginning). Ditto for strikes and story missions. Shattered Throne is the only activity in the game (excluding original Leviathan raid, I believe) that doesn't allow you to restart from the beginning.

Restart means you also reset your chance to get loot. So only strikes and nightfalls.

One reason for reset is doing the solo flawless. Once you get the drop for the week, you don't get loot again, even if you reset it.

Everything else in the game (except old neglected raids) has a reset option if it's there, Shattered Throne should get it's own map icon for fast launch and also a reset option.
