Endless Checking for Update screen

After you launch the game and either click or press Enter to start the game loading you character selection, I have the screen show, in the bottom right area, the message "Checking for updates," and it won't go away.... I left it "checking" for over an hr and did not change. I have scanned and repaired multiple times. I have also tried uninstalling the game and re-downloading it, same results. I have run out of options and need help. Should also note the game launches and loads fine on my old computer on the same network connection.
